In your TD calling out Loki, you spoke words of complete homerism with...

"Penn is in a weird spot, based on his jumping around. I'd rank him #2 in LW and WW"

Hold on playa. You'd put Penn, who is 0-2 in his last 2 lightweight bouts and 1-3-1 in his last 5 welterweight bouts, at #2 in both?

CHILD PLEASE!

Now I'll admit I don't have a TON of MMA knowledge, but I do know that you're crazy on this one. You're letting your homerism get ahead of you. Penn hasn't been one to ever taking to training too hard, and with him nearing the backside of his career, he needs to be working the hardest of his career.

At welterweight, his 1 win came against Matt Hughes, who is 37 and nothing like what he used to be.

I would also find it hard to put him in the top 5 in lightweight after being beaten twice by unanimous decision by Edgar.

Basically, you're nut hugging of Penn is as bad as mine with Kobe. I've been called out on my Kobe homerism, now it's your turn to be called out on yours.

So walk away from Penn's sack and defend yourself

LMAO!

Wikipedia is a great tool for guys like you. Let's look at records and not watch fights.

Let's look at facts. According to Freddie Roach, the best boxing trainer on the planet, Penn has the best boxing in MMA. He is the greatest LW fighter in the history of MMA. He was the first American to win the BJJ world championships.

Now you say he is 0-2 in his last two fights at LW. Correct, but both of those losses are to the #1 guy. I never said he was #1 at LW, I said #2. And the 1st fight the majority of the MMA world had Penn winning against Edgar.

Now his WW record. 1-3-1. 1st fight he lost a controversial split decision to GSP, the #1 WW. He then fought Matt Hughes who was the champ at the time and won the 1st two rounds before breaking a rib, and losing in the 3rd. He lost to GPS once again, who's the #1 guy. He then KO'd Hughes in 22 seconds and fought the #2 WW in the world to a draw, where the president of the UFC said he won the fight.

So don't sit here and look up fighter records on Wikipedia and then not even list who is better than him at each weight class.

Lastly, please name 5 better LW's than Penn and stop talking out of your ass homeboy. Start naming names.

Please hide yo kids, hide yo wife, hide yo husbands, because I'm raping everybody here

Now, I can't quote the other TD before but I recall you stating you had been to an MMA fight because you were a "real fan."

You know who else has been to an MMA PPV? This guy

And that's just the tip of the iceberg as I've been an MMA fan for many years now. That's why I know what you're speaking right now is lunacy.

BJ Penn may be the #2 fighter in one of these divisions, most likely welterweight, but he isn't #2 in both.

Now I appreciate you making excuses for each of his losses, but you don't need to. A loss is a loss, no matter how you cut it. His record is 1-3-1, plain and simple. You can say "If he had or hadn't done this, he'd won", but he didn't, and he lost.

In lightweight, he's coming off 2 straight losses. I don't care who he fought, you don't lose twice and stay the #2 fighter in said division.

Honestly, I'm not sure Penn has it anymore. He lacks the home-run hitting power like Joey Votto, who has 9 home runs on the year. Unlike Votto, Penn is past his prime.

Penn is basically an old man enjoying playing with other men at this point.

Run and tell that homeboy

I find it strange that you state you have been an MMA fan for many years but in your 1st arg you say that you do not have a ton of MMA knowledge. Were you sleeping during those events? But I digress.

Moving on. Now that you have admitted Penn is #2 a welterweight, lets focus on Penn's status in the LW division, shall we.

You see pretty hung up on Penn's 2 losses at LW, and I still don't know where you rank him in said division, but lets break it down.

Prior to those two losses, Penn destroyed everyone in his path at LW. He demolished Diego Sanchez stuffing 27 takedown attempts, and stopping him with a kick, where it looked like Diego took an axe to his forehead. After this fight, everyone declared Penn the greatest ever at LW, and said no one would ever beat him.

He then fought Edgar at UFC 112 where he was an 8-1 favorite. According to almost every MMA fan, media outlet, and even fightmetric, Penn won the fight, but was robbed by the judges. That's not making excuses, thats the reality of the situation.

He lost the rematch fair and square, so now I rank him #2 in the LW division. I'm still waiting on your list, not weird comparisons of Penn to a baseball player.

You failed to address the fact that BJ Penn is only on this sport now to roll around with men.

To say he's #2 in EITHER welterweight or lightweight is one thing. That guy can no way be in second in both of them. And that's what your argument is.

You simply have all your MMA buddies voting for you here.

The fact is, regardless of what "almost every MMA fan, media outlet, blah blah blah" said, he lost. He's not the same BJ Penn that once was.

He doest train hard, his cardio isn't there, and his desire is questionable. Basically, he's Cal Ripken if Ripken had never played a game.

Edgar and Maynard are both ahead of him in the lightweight division and I would put GSP, and Fitch, and Shields still ahead of him at the minimum in welterweight. He hasn't beat Shields and a tie with Fitch keeps Fitch ahead.

Now I'mma run and tell that to my homeboys and I recommend you do the same. Also, don't get sidetracked by looking at the back of cbook's head, even though it'd ridcuhlous.

I'm on a boat

WTF? OK. Where to start? First, none of my MMA buddies have even voted on this.

He's not the BJ Penn that once was? Fighting the #2 WW in the world to a draw is not once was? He's not even a natural WW and he beat Fitch 2 out of 3 rounds. And Fitch is ahead because he lost two rounds to a smaller fighter? What sense does that make?

So you finally listed names. You have Maynard and Edgar ahead of him. So I need to argue that he's better than Maynard because you have Penn ranked 3rd. BJ has better boxing than Maynard. His BJJ is light years ahead of Maynards. Maynards only path to victory is to take Penn down for 3 rounds and lay on top of him.

2 issues with that. First, Maynard would have a hell of a time taking Penn down. Great wrestlers like Hughes, GSP, and Fitch had a hard time taking Penn down, and Maynard a 155 fighter can take him down? Penn has been taken down 3 times in his career at LW.

Now, if Maynard could take him down, Penn has one the best guards in MMA. I doubt Maynard could do much. Even he knows it, AS HE TURNED DOWN AN OPPORTUNITY TO FIGHT PENN ALREADY!

So, in closing Penn is the #2 guy at LW. He beat the #2 guy at WW 2 of 3 rounds, so he's #2 at WW

It is definitely arguable that Penn could still be #2 lightweight if he still fought there.

No matter what judges say, Penn beat Edgar in their first fight. Lost the second. And in his fight with arguably the #2 welterweight, Jon Fitch, he beat him 2 of 3 rounds. Should've won, but Fitch got a 10-8 for laying all over Penn, doing exactly NOTHING.

Should be a good debate.
