Finish the Strikeforce HW Grand Prix

Method of victory can be argued.
Semifinals:
Alistair Overeem vs Antonio Silva
This will be a big test for Overeem. Overeem might be a K-1 level kickboxer, but Bigfoot dominated the best fighter in MMA history in his last fight, and I think he has what it takes to pull another upset here. I'm taking Bigfoot by decision. Bigfoot has a list of blackbelts as long as Overeem's arm, and being a strong Muay Thai fighter, I think he can hang with Overeem standing, and if he can get it to the ground, I think he has a big advantage.
Sergei Kharitonov vs Josh Barnett
Barnett's wrestling will prove to much for Kharitonov, plus Barnett is a blackbelt in BJJ, I like Barnett by second round submission.
Finals:
Antonio Silva vs Josh Barnett
I hate Barnett as much as anybody, but he does have excellent wrestling, and I think he has the ability to take Bigfoot to the ground, and I think he's strong enough, and good enough to keep him down. Both of these guys are blackbelts in BJJ, and I don't see Bigfoot submitting Barnett.

While its true Bigfoot just beat Fedor in impressive fashion I fail to see how it translates with his upcoming fight against Overeem. We all know Werdum beat Bigfoot, and we just witnessed Overeem beat Werdum. None of that matters. Lets break down the fight stylistically.
I know MMA fans are fickle and they will look at Overeem's performance the other night as a negative. But its tough to get anything off when your opponent is flopping all over the cage like a fish.
We know Bigfoot will stand and trade because thats what he likes to do. We saw Mike Kyle almost KO Bigfoot, and Kyle is a natural LHW. I see Overeem being the much faster fighter and landing clean shots and finsihing Bigfoot via strikes.
Barnett vs Kharitonov
Catch wrestling wins this for Barnett. He'll sub Kharitonov quicker then he did Rogers.
Finals:
Overeem over Barnett
Overeem was the big favorite to win this going in and I'm not changing my mind based on one fight. Barnett could try to wear Reem out and finish him on the ground, but I don't think he has the gas tank to do it. I see Overeem clinching Barnett and landing a fight turning knee.

You say Bigfoot was ALMOST KO'd by Mike Kyle, the last time I checked, almost only counts in hand grenades and horse shoes
Overeem was stopped by the following LHWs.
Shogun Rua 2x
Chuck Liddell
Lil Nog
Ricardo Arona
Bigfoot does like to stand and trade, but I think his gameplan will be different against Overeem. It's not like Bigfoot doesn't know that Overeem is a K-1 level kickboxer, and arguably has the best standup of any HW in MMA.
I think Bigfoot will use his size to his advantage, and take this fight to the ground, where he has the advantage. Bigfoot has solid Judo and is a BJJ blackbelt, and he's strong enough to keep Overeem on the ground.
Overeem might be a heavy favorite in this fight, but I think the fight is a lot closer than Vegas is gonna make it.
And if Bigfoot fails to take Overeem down, don't forget about Bigfoot's Muay Thai. It's pretty damn good. Bigfoot does have the best standup of any fighter Overeem has fought in the last 2 years. Much better than Todd Duffee and Brett Rogers.
I look for Bigfoot to take a decision.

My point about Kyle was, that if Overeem lands a similar shot on Kyle its goodnight for Bigfoot.
Bigfoot obviously has the advantage on the ground, but Overeem is pretty slick on the ground himself, and I doubt this fight even goes to the ground that much. I see this fight being similar to the Arlovski-Bigfoot fight. The majority of the fight will be on the feet, where Overeem has a big edge.
I also dont see Bigfoot shooting in and taking Overeem down. It will have to be in a clinch situation and Alistair is strong in the clinch and will unload knees on Bigfoot. I just don't see it hitting the mat too often.
Bigfoots Muay Thai is pretty decent but Overeem's kickboxing is on another level. He's the best kickboxer currently in MMA. He will use his superior speed to frustrate and overwhelm Bigfoot on the feet.
I hope people dont use Overeem's last fight as an indicator for this fight. Werdum did not come to fight against Overeem and embarrassed himself and the sport of MMA with that display. And let's not forget Werdum beat Bigfoot already.
Overeem is the much better striker and a fight that will stay mostly on the feet. Give me the favorite to TKO Bigfoot and move on.

On to the finals.
I still think Bigfoot beats Overeem, but for arguments sake, I will argue Barnett over Overeem.
It's true, Overeem will have a big advantage standing up, but Barnett has great wrestling, and I don't think he'll have much trouble taking Overeem down. Both of these guys were/are roid freaks, but I think Barnett is the stronger of the two.
If Barnett takes Overeem down, I think Reem will have trouble getting back up, and I think Barnett can control the fight from the top for pretty much the entire fight.
To me, Overeem is gonna have to do his work early in the rounds before he gets taken down if he's gonna win this fight, and Barnett isn't exactly easy to KO.
The last time he was KO'd was in 2001, which was 10 years ago. Other than that, the only people to beat him were Big Nog and Cro Cop in his prime.
Barnett has faced tougher competition, he's a former UFC HW champ, and he knows how to win.
I think Reem will be able to defend any submission attempts, but he will be on his back the majority of the fight, and he will lose the decision.

I still think Overeem beats Bigfoot, but I will argue Bigfoot over Barnett for the finals.
I think Bigfoot is the more well rounded fighter, and the bigger, stronger fighter. I'm not sure Barnett can get it to the ground and if it does hit the ground, then I believe the fight is an absolute wash.
Where I think Bigfoot wins this fight is in the standup. As you said in your 2nd arg, Bigfoot's Muay Thai is pretty damn good and I believe he holds the edge over Barnett in this area. Bigfoot's standup has improved a lot over the years. He outboxed Arlovski, and say what you want about Andrei's chin but he still has very good boxing.
I look for Bigfoot is get the better of the exchanges standing. This will be the key to the fight in my mind. Like I said, I see both guys nullifying eachother on the ground.
In a finals match between Bigfoot and Barnett, give me Bigfoot to win a clear decision and to win the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix.
Either way, this is an exciting tournament. It's just too bad this TD is not getting any attention.

Interesting how Werdum flops on his back against Overeem and people blame Werdum but when Maia and Leites do the EXACT SAME thing against Silva, Silva get's crap for it....At least against Overeem, no title was on the line and so it wasn't so much Werdum's responsibility to go after Overeem, whereas Maia and Leites were challengers who refused to engage the person they wanted to take the title from. Werdum's goal was obviously to try to technically win a fight(on points if necessary), not TAKE a title...Overeem had the same issue in a sense....his goal was to make it through the fight, rather than take the potentially risky steps to BEAT his opponent. That's the drawback to having a title holder fight without putting the title on the line...his motivation to win is lessened since the winner of the tourney only gets a title shot, not a title....

I have to agree with left.. Big Foot will probably beat Overeem.. I know Overeem's nasty, but Big Foot is too.. Big Foot has the size to **** with Overeem. Also, barnett was throwing around Bret Roger's **** like Tiki Barber is throwing away his commentating gig. I see Barnett and Silva in the finals.. I'm kinda leaning towards Big Foot, but Barnett's wrestling is top notch.. I like Barnett to win it all.

Antonio Silva and Overeem knock each other out, both losing. After Barnett decisions Sergei, SF will be looking to match him up against someone.
So they pit Fedor against Arlovski in a rematch.
Arlovski doesn't make the same mistakes he did last time, uses the Greg Jackson lay and pray, and defeats Fedor.
