1-Edgar vs Maynard II at UFC 125
In my research I found this to be the best fight thus far in 2011. It was action packed and Maynard went for a quick win in the 1st by pounding on Edgar. Frankie survived but Maynard thoroughly dominated the opening round.
2-Stann vs Leben
I watched the fight and saw Leben has had a problem with fighters who have superior footwork. Stann used his footwork to his advantage and surprised people by standing and banging with Leben. He finished him off quickly after the middle of the 1st round. Stann pulled a huge win with this victory and especially, the way he beat him down.
Stann TKO'd 1 of toughest fighters in UFC. And he became just the 2nd fighter to beat Leben via strikes. The other one? Spider Silva.
3-Sanchez vs Kampmann
Sancez face was a bloody mess but he managed to pull out a controversial decision in this action packed fight.
Please wait for at least 2 arguments before voting. I am just a newb when it comes to MMA and way out of my League against UH. But I will give it my best....

DJ, I have some issues with your list.
1. Every fight you picked is a UFC fight, there are other promotions out there.
2. Brian Stann ended Chris Leben in the first round, and it was not at any point a close fight, it was very one sided, and Chris Leben was sick for that fight, I'm definitely replacing that one.
I'm also replacing Kampmann-Sanchez
I agree with maynard-Edgar
I'll be replacing Leben-Stann with Dominick Cruz vs Urijah Faber II.
Yes it's a very recent fight, but there was a title on the line. These guys had genuine dislike for each other. And we saw 5 full rounds of non stop action. These guys are two of the fastest guys in MMA, there wasn't a dull moment in the fight, and Dominick Cruz evened the series up with a close decision.
I'll replace Sanchez-Kampmann with Dan Henderson vs Feijao Cavalcante
The Strikeforce LHW belt was on the line, the two had split the first two rounds of the fight, Feijao had Hendo in trouble, but Hendo used his wrestling for the first time in a while, and then he ended it in the third with his big right hand.
Good luck DJ.

Title fights are the rule for best fights? I beg to differ because some of the most exciting fights are where fighters need to prove themselves. This was just Stann's 2nd fight at Middleweight and he was in a fight where he had to prove himself. Leben is a middleweight contender and this was a huge win for Stann and yes it was dominated.
That excludes it from being 1 of the better fights?
I don't think so.
If he was sick? He shouldn't have fought, let us not make excuses for a professional fighter.
If he was that sick he would not have fought.

Title fights aren't a requirement for this TD, but to me, when something is on the line, that alone makes a fight more exciting be it a title fight or a fight to see who gets the next title fight.
The Stann Leben fight had nothing on the line but a win bonus and a climb on the ladder for a shot at Anderson Silva. Neither Stann nor Leben are number one contenders yet.
If this fight had not been son one sided, I could see it, but Leben had the flu, and he didn't put up much of a fight at all.
I'm sorry, but when I think of best fights, I'm thinking of close fights filled with excitement.
Yes, Stann's one round of pure domination was pretty exciting, but it wasn't a good fight, it was a straight up beat down.
Leaving off Cruz-Faber will cost you IMO.
These guys hate each other, and they were fighting for a championship. We saw the best both fighters had. Both fighters won rounds(except in the eyes of a blind judge), both fighters were aggressive, both landed shots, both kept the same pace for the entire 5 rounds, both fighters cashed in on 75,000 dollar Fight of the Night bonuses.
Cruz-Faber II definitely goes before Leben-Stann.
