NL has better pitching..
Hamels, Lee, Holliday, Cueto etc etc..
Who do the AL have pitching?
Verlander, but he can only throw 2 innings max!
thee thee, the fat guy that cant pitch..
we all know the AL has a better batting line up..
BUT
Guess what, good pitching beats good hitting EVERYTIME..
Theres that and the AL is missing alot of batters..
FUGHET ABOUT A-ROD, whose like a plastic bag drifting through the wind!
Jeter, still trying to calm down for being mr 3000..
we all know on paper, the AL should win..
But this will be a low scoring game, which favors the NL..
Times have changed..
Theres really only 3 power houses at the moment..
philies, yanks and red sox..
The AL is no longer a "firework"
Boom Boom Boom
Look for Fielder to win the MVP of this game..
He is a "firework"..
He will let his colours burn..
He's even brighter than the moon moon..
He aint working hard cause he's a fat guy?
WRONG..
He just got to the semi finals of the home run derby!
He will grab someone sexy and say HEY!

I will address the overwhelming advantage the AL has on offense in my next argument. It's terrifying.
I would argue that the AL has better pitching as well. Verlander and Jered Weaver have the two best sets of stats in the majors. Better WAR than Halliday. And one could argue Josh Beckett, pitching in the meat grinder that is the AL East, is the Cy Young front runner. So your "two innings an done" assessment of the AL is all kinds of wrong.
Halladay is amazing, no denying that. Cliff Lee had an amazing June after a slow (for him) start. Hamels is having a great year. But Verlander throwing 100 plus, after dealing with 2 innings of Weaver, the NL lineup is gonna be baffled. They might get shut out for 6 innings.
The AL lineup, against any pitching lineup, will not be shut out for 6 batters, let alone innings. NL is going down like Peachy at a Brandon Vera meet and greet.

Verlander aint pitching.
He pitched sunday. Have you ever heard of a pitcher pitching on 1 days rest?
SEE WHAT I MEAN.
You are missing A-rod, Jeter, price, mariano rivera etc etc..
I know we are missing guys too.
But its not as bad as yours!
look for thee thee, thabaitha to get crushed, the dude just isnt quality!
(I know he has 13 wins, but thats only cause he gets mad run support).
Like I said, I know the AL has a scary offense.
But the NL will score 3 runs, which, with their superior pitching, will be enough to win the game!
Yeah Yeah boy!
Im predicting NL wins 3-2..
Think of this as a changing of the guard.
NL is younger and "prettier"
If you think the NL should be called the Triple-A league, then your argument su-cks!
philies starters + Braves relievers = Betty crocker win!
NL will get early lead, and the middle relievers will win the game!
Im a big fan of power middle relievers, and NL reeks of it.
Dude, I dont know where you have been the past two years. But its the year of the pitcher!
Batters stopped taking the juice about 8 years ago.
Home field advantage is severely under rated.
NL builds on their winning streak
Powertrip said 07/12, 06:20 PM
You forget to mention that the FIRST NAME in your argument is also out due to having pitched on Sunday. That is Cole Hamels, and is a BIG loss to a pitching staff that is light on lefties to begin with. However I will defer to the NL having a better pitching staff, albeit slightly.
While we're talking about who's IN and who's OUT, you mention Jeter and ARod are out for the AL. I respect Jeter, but he's got an OBP of .330 this year with 3 home runs. So the AL is "stuck" starting Cabrera. 14 home runs and slugging almost .500. That is a HUGE upgrade.
Lets be honest, the AL lineup isn't a "little" better, they are worlds better. The only NL batters that would crack the AL lineup are Prince and Ryan Braun. And oh yeah, Braun isn't playing! Beltran is a suitable fill in, but is a definite downgrade.
The AL lineup is terrifying! Year of the pitcher my rear, the entire AL lineup has an OPS of over .870 except for Beltre, who has 17 dingers on the year. You are missing Reyes (DL) who has the highest batting average on the NL all-star team. The NL has nowhere NEAR the firepower of the AL.
Winning streak? NL has won 1 All Star game since '96. AL is vastly superior and will win!
HighwayCrossingFrog said 07/13, 08:30 AM
I admit, the AL was significantly favored to win..
But upsets happen, and last night it belonged to the AL..
Your boy cabrera, (who filled in for my Jeter), made a costly error.. One Jeter would not have made..
Wilson showed us he cant pitch to the big boys.. Giving up the 3-run bomb to Prince was suicide..
Wish they started the game earlier, 8.30 is pretty late for eastern time zones!
Your argument is probably better than mine, so stick around, maybe some poor souls will vote for you!
Powertrip said 07/13, 09:55 AM
Well done, your boys win so I'll forfeit. Good thing it's not a best of 7 series. NL pitching was solid. 3 of the top 4 AL pitchers not playing CERTAINLY played a role. And the whole format of only seeing a pitcher for 2 innings hurt the AL lineup more than I thought it would.
Every team in the NL sucks (except Philly)
Pitchers hitting is LAME and boring. Strategy my ****, it's a free out.
The AL will win the World Series (read Red Sox!!)
If you like the NL, you hate America and are probably a terrorist.
Kobe is better than LeBron
Brian Scalibrine is my hero.

the AL have no one to pitch? jered weaver and verlander are arguably the two best pitchers in baseball so far. they rank 1st and 3rd in era in the majors and 1st and 2nd in whip in the majors.....oh yeah, they are doing this without the luxury of facing other pitchers.

Verlander pitched Sunday, he is not at the all-star game.

Holliday better not be pitching. It's going to tick me off if he gets hurt doing that.

Much appreciated as it would have made my first arg a bit stronger. Half the fun of these is learning more about the player / event in the process of arguing.

Because then he's make $40K an inning instead of $8K an inning

Tommy Hanson should be an all-star. Nothing else matters.
Still No Interest

He is only the hardest starting pitcher to get a hit off. No big deal....
I guess Freddy should have called Bochy up and (begged) "lobbied" for Hanson to be on there...
Ridiculous.

the american league will and most win this game, fair pitching staff, but better lineup more discipline at the plate from the hitters, good pitching can over pitch the hitters but it depends what type of hitters will be there, still i believe that the american league hitters have better oportunity to be more discipline at the plate plus they have more patient when it have to do with selection over the pitching, discipline, patient, and foult the borderline pitches best way to nock out any good pitcher!!!
