the human vacuum cleaner.. 16 straight gold gloves.. single handedly won the 1970 World Series for the birds and a true class act is the best 3B ever..he was a key part in Orioles history..wat is amazing also is that he stuck with 1 team...

The correct answer to this question is Michael Jack Schmidt. 548 homers, 3 MVP awards, and 10 gold gloves playing for the worst fans in the history of baseball. Brooks has the fielding but Schmidt's also stellar fielding combined with his absolutely great hitting makes him the better all around player.

Brooks Robinson has 2848 Hits, .267 AVG, 268 HR.. 18x all star.. and in the top 26 in MVP voting for 12 years.... He has meant so much to Orioles history

Schmidt edges Robinson in: obp. (.380-.322), slg.(.527-.401), homers (548-268), runs batted in (1595-1357), MVPs (3-1_, and silver sluggers (6-0).

Yes Robinson is the best fielding 3B ever but if we're also taking hitting into account, which we must, then Schmidt has the edge. Also, let's not pretend that Schmidt was a slouch at fielding as he won 10 GGs and was above league fielding percentage for his career.

16 straight GG is unbelievable.. and on top of that being a reasonable offense player and a class act is rare.. he didnt care if he was boo'd he went out and played harder for 20 years...
Mike- lead team to 1 WS W
Brooks- 2...

So World Series wins measures a player? If that's the case, I'm just as good a baseball player as Ted Williams. And, again, Brooks was the better fielder but Schmidt was also very good at fielding his position (again, 10 GGs) and beats the hell out of Brooks offensively. Let's compare their 162 game averages at the plate:

Schmidt: .267/.380/.527/.907, 37 HR, 107 RBI
Robinson: .267/.322/.401/.723, 15 HR, 76 RBI.

Schmidt's offense obviously outweighs Robinson's and combined with his good defense makes him the clear choice. He has great power and on baseb capabilities while Robinson's numbers at the plate are all painfully average. Like I've been saying, Robinson is the best fielding 3B ever but Schmidt is the best all around 3B due to great offense and outstanding defense.

How about the greatest fans ever? Philly is showing that it is a baseball town this year. Just because we boo doesn't mean we don't love the team

Vote to Jet.

Sorry, but it's Schmidt.

Brooks I think is second or third though. I did a TD with yankeelifers on this...I went with Eddie Matthews as the 2nd best 3B every...he had Brooks. I was expecting George Brett.
