There's a lot of TDs on the board about "Best MMA card w/ (insert certain specification)". Well, I want to do one without any specifications. Simply make the most entertaining 5-fight card you can. No restrictions to UFC.

Main Event

Anderson Silva vs. GSP

Simply put, it's been the most anticipated fight in MMA history. It WILL happen, and it's going to be epic. Regardless of the outcome, it's going to be a money draw.

Co-main event

Alistair Overeem vs. Cain Velasquez

One brand's heavyweight champ vs. the other. It's a superfight that would probably be a better fight than Silva-GSP, but wouldn't be as big a draw.

Brock Lesnar vs. Fedor

It was the most talked about fight for about half a year. Then they both lost a couple and are on the downslope. Still would be a fight everyone would pay for.

Bones Jones vs. Rashad Evans

The bad blood is there. And whether or not Bones is ducking or not, it's caused drama. I don't think it'd be a good fight, but it's a money draw

Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard

Completing the trilogy to open the card would be great. These two had an epic war last time

First le me say great card, Rude.

"Alistair Overeem vs. Cain Velasquez"

Overeem would be overmatched against Cain.

He struggled against Werdum. Watched that and was highly disappointed. It was soooo disappointing the fan in Dallas booed them. Cain's power would be too much for Overeem and stop his winning streak.

My first change is Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen over Silva-GSP.

Saw the first fight between Sonnen and Silva. And like most was surprised. The fight was dominated by Sonnen until "Spider" caught Sonnen and submitted him. This match needs to be made to see if the first time Sonnen was legit or Silva was lucky.

From what I have read it is unlikely GSP would go up to Middleweight. He is too concerned with his "legacy." Similar reason Mayweather doesn't want to meet PacMan.

Dominick Cruz-Urjah Faber instead of Lesnar-Fedor.

They just fought and it was an awesome fight earning "Fight of the Night" honors. Capitalize on this fight immediately and have them meet again for the 3rd time. It would be a huge draw after their most recent match.

More to come.

BRING IT!!!!!

Arguing the legitimacy of a fight is stupid considering we're using Strikeforce guys against UFC guys. On top of that, taking away the most anticipated fight in UFC history would be down right dumb. And replacing it with a fight that Silva would most likely dominate makes less sense

In the first fight, Silva had broken ribs and Sonnen was on steroids and Silva still beat him. Imagine a healthy Silva versus a roid-less Sonnen. It'd be embarrassing.

Silva-GSP would be a much better fight and would have a much higher draw. Sonnen's mouth can only gain so many tickets. It would never amount to that which Silva-GSP would get.

Secondly, you're lack of MMA historical knowledge is showing. Judging Overeem off one fight isn't smart.

*Machida whooped Rashad and it was donned the Machida era. He was then whooped twice by Shogun
*Brock looked unstoppable for about 4 fights, then got destroyed by Cain

There are examples like this all over MMA. Making knee jerk reactions off one fight is the popular thing to do, but not the smart thing.

Overeem-Cain would be a fair match and a war.

Brock - Fedor would not be a good fight.

Why are you letting this TD die? That's a great card, IMO.

GSP / Silva isn't going to happen. EVER. GSP is far too concerned with his legacy to move up to 185 and challenge Silva, or himself for that matter. Perhaps if Matt Serra hadn't shocked the world, and put just a hint of doubt into GSP's brain which is still there today- GSP would take this fight. Or maybe GSP is fine with dominating at his natural weight. Which is fine. Whatever the case, this one won't happen (what, Dana White LIED? Nah...).
Brock v. Fedor? Um, no thank you.
Cain v. Ubereem? Fight has legs, but after watching Overrated barely beat Werdum on his feet, it's lost some lustre. IF Overeem wins the GP - which isn't a given - perhaps.

A better card...

Main Event
Anderson Silva v. Chael Sonnen - face it - Sonnen is a **** that everyone loves to hate, he promotes the hell out of a fight, and he beat Silva for 23 minutes last time out. So you have a kick ass fight, and fans wanting to tune in. Win-win.

Co-Main Event
Velasquez v. JDS - apologies to Overeem apologists, but the two top HW in MMA right now are Cain and JDS. K1 isn't MMA, and Overeem didn't exactly destroy Werdum the last time out. Look at Carwin after he fought JDS and Werdum after he fought the supposed best striker in MMA. Um, which guy would YOU rather be??

Also on the card

Gilbert Melendez v. Frankie Edgar - while Maynard/Edgar II was great, if you saw the first fight those guys had, you'd realize there is a chance the third fight will be a snoozefest. Melendez v. Edgar has NO chance for Zzzzz. At least not for the audience.

Jon Jones v. Rashad - look, Jones is going to murder Rashad. Which is fine. This will still sell a lot of PPVs.

Brian Stann v. Mike Bisping - can we please end the Mike Bisping era before it begins??

Brock v. Roy Nelson - a closer fight than most people realize. And Brock being on the card makes sure we have 1,000,000 buys.

How can anyone say Overeem would be over matched by Cain? If you watch the Overeem and Werdum fight you will see Werdum was refusing to fight overeem and just flopping to the ground. Overeem is a smart enough fighter to not fall into that.

As for Cain, he has fought one good striker in his brief career. He was getting owned in the standup game against Kongo. He took the fight to the ground to win a decision. He beat up Brock who's standup game is pretty non existant. He beat up an over the hill Nog.

No doubt Cains wrestling would be a huge factor in the fight, but if he decided to stand with him, Cain would get KO'd.

GSP doesn't have to move to MW to fight Silva. I think it takes place at a 177.5 catchweight. On fight night after rehydration, I'd estimate GSP will weigh about 194 (he usually weighs 187) and Silva will come in around 206 (vs his usual 212). So we'd only be looking at a 12 pound weight difference instead of 25).

Silva's reach, precision, and leverage will be the big advantage, but Silva's biggest weakness (wrestling and take down defense) is also GSP's biggest strength. And unlike Sonnen, GSP has exceptional submission defense. Having Bones as a training partner will also help GSP train against the reach and unorthodox angles that Spider uses.

I do think Spider wins but I don't think it's as lopsided as many people believe. The fight needs to happen - and Dana will incentivize them financially to make it happen to fill the void with casual fight fans while Manny and Money continue to dodge each other.
