6-10

Last year Miami's offense was
21st in total ypg
16th in passing ypg
21st in rushing ypg
30th in scoring offense

Miami lost both their main RB's for the last few years in Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown. They picked up Reggie Bush but he is a receiver out of the backfield and little else. They are going to rely a lot on a rookie RB in Daniel Thomas.

They were in the market for a QB and their only move was to pick up Matthew Moore? Because they were too cheap to pull the move on getting Kyle Orton from Denver. Sure, they still have Brandon Marshall but that means trading for Orton was that much more important since they had some chemistry from when they played together.

The defense last year was
6th in total ypg allowed
8th against the pass
7th against the run

But simply medicore at 14th in scoring defense, which means they do not play good "Red Zone defense."

But without a proven QB? They are going to lose a lot of 17-13 and 20-14 games imo.

3-13

The Dolphins are a mess DJ. You know this. They lost both of their running backs and are going with an unproven rookie running back that wasn't even that great of a running back in college. Henne was just god-awful last year and even with Brandon Marshall, I don't see their offense being a threat at all. In fact, the team they have right now reminds me of the team that went 1-15, except with a slightly better quarterback. I honestly can't see them beating anybody but Washington and Buffalo. In all fairness, they have a pretty tough schedule, but I expect them to be right there with Buffalo and Washington in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.

As you pointed out, they have a decently good defense, but they still give up too many loooooong pass plays. Unless Smith and Davis have gotten better, they aren't going anywhere.

LOL. What happened to 8-8? Just 3 wins? And sweeping the Bills for 2 of those wins? Nope. The schedule is difficult but their defense is good enough for them to beat Denver and the Browns? That is a very winnable game for Miami.

The last game of the year is at home vs the Jets. They always play the Jets tough and last year NY was clearly better. But the Dolphins split with them. Not to mention the Jets could have a playoff spot and may very well be resting key players.

"Henne was just god-awful last year and even with Brandon Marshall, I don't see their offense being a threat at all."

This will be his 3rd season as a starter and I think he improves. He no longer has to worry about looking over his shoulder and Pennington coming into replace him. They acquired Matt Moore to back him up. Not to start. And Matt Moore is no Chad Pennington.

You know who else needs to step up and play better?

Brandon Marshall. They acquired him to be a playmaker and he had a "down year" last season.

86 catches is nice but he had just 3 TD's. And his 11.8ypc was the 2nd lowest of his career and his 185 YAC? 114th.

Pathetic.

DJ, for both our TD's I'll post my argument tomorrow. I'm too drunk to post an argument right now.

For all the hate Henne gets, he has only really been a starter for two seasons and has not preformed unforgivably. I say one more year is fair. After all, if it all goes to hell they can just lose out and pick up Andrew Luck at the new discount rookie rate.

I don't think they are bad enough to be in the "Andrew Luck sweepstakes." Their defense is going to keep them in games but I don't see their offense being good enough.

As a Dolphins fan, 6-10 would suck, but DJ"s right the offense just isn't good enough.

August 12, 2011  09:24 PM ET

They aren't that bad, Heat Own.

Finally someone smart who thinks the Browns can beat lowly teams.

Shut up, PCH.

But he wasn't really all that good at Michigan either... I'm not saying he's terrible, or was terrible at Michigan. But he was fairly average. Maybe slightly above average.

And being good in college means what? How many starts did Matt Cassel get?

When Cassel got a chance in NE, he surprised because he was an unknown commodity.

And because any QB that doesn't succeed in NE should retire immediately

QUOTE(#17):

It means nothing, but that was beside the point. The point I was making is that in all honesty, Henne has never had a great season on any level, including college. And as a pro, he's been the very definition of mediocre.2008: 74.0 QB rating2009: 75.2 QB rating2010: 75.4 QB ratingAs bland as it gets. And his career line of 27 TDs and 33 INTs doesn't scare any opposing defenses either. And sure, Cassel didn't start much in college. But so what? When Cassel go a chance in NE, he surprised because he was an unknown commodity. Henne isn't an unknown, he's just known to be very average. Can't really compare the two.

Henne as a freshman? 60.2%, 228ypg, 6.9ypa, 25 TD's to 12 INT's with a 132.6 Passer Rating

As a junior? 61.9%, 193ypg, 7.6ypa, 22 TD's to 8 INT's with a 143.3 Passer Rating

They were a run dominated team with Mike Hart. Ran the ball 535 times to just 328 pass arttempts.

August 13, 2011  08:36 PM ET

*328 pass attempts*

Miami is hurting right now.

You nailed it DJ (yet, still gave them 6 W's? I've honestly had to go back and check that 3 times - just to make sure it was accurate). No RB's, no QB's (H#ll, even Cleveland, kinda has those) and a good defense, which unfortunately for them....isn't the 2000 Ravens D.

On top of that, all of those "winnable games", are equally winnable by the other side.

Ehhh - even 3 wins, might be...ummm...optimistic?
