I will fire Omar. If you know the mets there whole team is mostly Hispanic. He made trades like Victor Zambrano for Scott Kazmir are you kidding me.Maybe Because Victor is hispanic because this was awful he was an awful devil ray why do you expect him to change.Omar did not give Willie a solid bulpen when could have used his money to help the bulpen he used it on Hispanic old hitters.Alou was gret but he was injured for most of the year.Mets got Mota and resigned him when he did everything when he was on roids.dELGADO was pretty bad this year and so was Scott Schoeneweis who he paid 7 million to get.As you see it was Omar' FAULT

First of all, negative points for racism. Second of all, Minaya didn't make Kazmir/Zambrano trade; I believe that was Jim Duquette (sp?) so you can't fault him for that. If I were in charge, I'd fire them both but if I had to choose, it'd be Randolph.

Minaya did some good (see: Luis Castillo) but it Willie Randolph's horrible management of the bullpen he had, which wasn't all that bad as the Mets had a bullpen ERA of 4.08, (and pitchers falling apart, i.e. Joe Smith) and his lineup--why he had so much faith in Jose Valentin and Julio Franco is beyond me.

Randolph did a very poor job of managing a relatively well put together team so put this one on him and, more so, his players.

Yes but he did not get talent in the bulpen.Mota had to be his 4th best pitcher in the bulpen.By the way I am latin so I am just saying it how it is.Omar did not give the mets enough in the bulpen he resigned Mota Mota.He gave up Brian Bannister for nothing in return and Bell as well. They gave up Henry Owens and Matt Lidstrom {SP] .4 young pitchers for nothing in return now that is bad.

The New York Mets were top five in runs (4,) hits (4), home runs (5), average (2), obp (3), and steals (1). They were also seventh in ERA, third in wins, third in shutouts, seventh in innings pitched, and fifth in strikeouts. The Mets' failures are mostly not due to any wrong doing by the General Manager as the team is pretty good. It is the players themselves and their manager, who failed to utilize what he had and didn't do his best to put his team in a position to win.

Willie Randolph is a downright average who has a great team that should make him look excellent, kind of like his "mentor" Joe Torre. However, where Randolph differs is that he ends up not looking good because he can't manage a bullpen and sticks with players who aren't performing for way too long.

Take for example Julio Franco, David Newhan, and the aforementioned Valentin. Schoenweis (who lives in my hometown, actually) and Mota (despite not having a "full" season) were over used which is Randolph's mistake, not Minaya's. Aside from a few terrible spots, the Mets' bullpen is pretty well contstruced, Randolph just botched the management.

But if omar gave willie more tools in the bulpen he did not have overuse Shoenweis or Mota.WILLIE used what Omar gave him and it was pretty much nothing.Yes Omar did give talent but also he gave elderly players in Alou and orlando Hernandez who get injured.Omar did not give Willie enough pitching help.

Minaya can't control if a player gets hurt and Hernandez and Alou did MUCH better than anyone thought they would in the time they did play. If anything, those are successes for Minaya. Randolph had plenty of tools at his disposal and just did not use them, instead opting for lesser players. Despite the fact that they both might go, Randolph deserves it more. However, most of the blame should be put on the players.

Why fire either one of them? They had a great year and fell short. It happens.

Word on the street is Willie Randolph is calling for Selig's head for allowing the season to go 162 games. He wants to go back to 154.

He also threw God under the bus for the unusually warm weather today that kept Ramon Castro's deep fly with bases loaded IN the ballpark.

Willie blames everyone but himself.

Willie said sorry, not the warm air, which actually should have helped Ramon's ball, but the 9 mph wind blowing in from left.

so Willie's mad at something from 1961? weird.

speaking of old things in baseball, look out for a throwdown from me about a restructuring of the playoff format.

Willie was in denial the whole way through this collapse, and for that he should be held accountable. He took no steps to wake his team up, who was sorely in need of a jolt.

I think he should have benched Jose Reyes at least a week ago. The bullpen will be the scapegoat for this collapse, but look at a guy like Reyes. MVP of the team. His role is to wreak havoc on the bases and create runs, right?

He finished the season without having stolen a base since September 15th. From 9/16 thru the end of the season, Reyes did the following:

BA .194, OBP .286, 11 runs scored, 0 SB in 14 games.

With production like that, it's no wonder this team lost 8 straight at home and 8 of its last 13 games.
