Biggest Fannation Touney Ever: Which team will be the best fit for Curt Schilling Next Season?

The team that is the best fit for Curt Schilling is the Philadelphia Phillies.

With a weak pitching core now, and now minor league prospects to call up, the Phillies will once again look for pitching help this offseason. They currenty have the 25th worst ERA, 4.76, in all of baseball. Curt Schilling's 3.87 ERA will add a much needed quality pitcher to the Phillies rotation.

Also, Curt Schilling has a very limited mindset on teams he is willing to play for. Philadelphia, however, is one of Schilling's top choices. After leaving Arizona, Schilling requested Philadelphia to obtain him. Ed Wade, the former Phillies GM, just didnt have the money necessary to acquire Schilling, thus the Red Sox scooped him up.

In all likelihood, Philadelphia wont have to worry about the financial situation. Aaron Rowand will most likely not be resigned, and there is the possibility that Pat Burrell could be traded. The only pitchers the Phillies are sure will start for them next season are Cole Hamels and Kyle Kendrick. Schilling would offer not only a quality starter, but also a veteran presence to help shape those two very young starters.

Curt Schilling should go to the NY Mets. While the Mets do have Galvine he has not had the best year he could have. Glavine is coming towards the end of his career and Curt Schilling would be the perfect replacement for him. They could probably get far with Schilling taking them to the World Series even (just a suggestion). With the Galvine era coming to an end, The Schilling era could begin with the Mets. Schilling would probably give the Mets the little boost they need and if that happens the Mets could be going somewhere.

This throwdown is about where is the best fit for Schilling, not which club could use him the most. Schilling has already said that he would not play for either of the New York teams. He also stated that he is mainly interested in resigning with the Red Sox, going back to Arizona, or of course going to Philadelphia. The Red Sox and Diamondbacks dont have any need of him, Philly does.

Also, no "era" will take place on any team Schilling will sign with. He knows he is not an ace and will only play another year or two. That's hardly enough time for an era.

Well even if the Schilling does not want to join either team he would be a good placement there. However since he has not expressed his desire to be there then I will say he should stay with the Red Sox, he is still needed there somewhat and even though he is not having the greatest season, he fits perfectly for the Red Sox.

Even if he wanted to go to New York, it would not be a good fit. That would produce a pitching staff with Glavine, Martinez, and Schilling, all of whom are in the twilights of their careers. In today's game, youthful pitchers are what is working.

As for the Red Sox, they already have a core pitching staff with Josh Beckett, Daisuke Matsuzaka (wont eat huge contract), Jon Lester, and Tim Wakefield. They also have a quality farm system which could replace Schilling. By resigning Schilling, the Red Sox would only be wasting money.

While this may be true the Red Sox would always have that extra man there to give the younger ptchers guidence (not that most need it but still). I believe even though he can't do much and the Red Sox might be wasting money he still could have a part on the team and that part could be beneficial in some way people may not even know.

Philly is the worst place for Shilling. He burned his bridges there. Did you know he came in 4th in a Philly poll of athletes most hated by their Peers?
