Ricky smoked weed. So what? I only say that because out of all these infractions, it's probably the least:

Possession of a concealed firearm
improper exhibition of a firearm
aggravated assault with a firearm
Aggravated assault
resisting arrest
Suspicion of obstructing or resisting an officer in the performance of his duty
Resisting arrest
drunken driving
Assault
Assault
Assault
Domestic assault
Domestic assault
Providing alcohol to three underaged females
Unlawfully carrying a weapon and discharging a firearm
Unlawful possession of a handgun
Vandalism
spousal battery
obstructing justice
Drunken driving
Drunken driving
Drunken driving

These were all charges brought up against current NFL players. If they are playing then why not Ricky. I know he has violated the rule before, but he had a legitimate mental problem. Ricky has anxiety issues, he used Marjuiana for self medicating the issues. He has since gotten help and can contribute. It's illegal but no where near as bad as the charges listed above. If they can play then Ricky should too. He isn't banged up and could contribute in the rushing game.

Ricky should not be reinstated, smoking marijuana is against the law, plain and simple. He's had multiple chances to make a new life, he's failed. It's against the NFL's substance abuse policy and he's broken the rules, he simply does not deserve another chance

This time is different, he has admitted a problem and sought help. It's not like weed is herion, or cocaine, where addiction can occur. Did Ricky hurt anone? Did Ricky cheat? No. Did he do something wrong, sure, hence the suspension. This country is all about 2nd and third and fourth chances, why not in Ricky's case. If a player that took HGH or another Performance enhancer can return, why not RIcky?

Because this is the same story over and over again. All he has to do is NOT SMOKE POT, has he been able to do this NO. This is a country of second and third and fourth chances, but the NFL does not have a commissioner that is leniant. He should not and probably will not reinstate Ricky because he has done nothing to prove that he belongs in the NFL. It is possible to get addicted to marijuana and is as much a drug as heroin and cocaine. How many more times is he going to do this? He's proven before that he cant stay clean, and I see no reason to believe hell do it this time

Just like no one is taking performance enhancers right? Ricky has done nothing to prove he blongs? Uhh have you seen him run the ball? He is a beast when he wants to play. He had mental problems, now he is right in the head, I mean depression is no joke, and if you don't treat it with professional help it can tear you apart. Ricky needs ongoing treatment, but should be allowed to play. He didn;t do anything no where near as bad as all the guys listed above (they are all active in the NFL)

If you get caught with steroids you get suspended, do it multiple times, you get banned from the league. Same with substance abues, why should Ricky get an exception? I have seen him run the ball he was great in Texas and his first years in Miami, how'd he do in the CFL? His offense may not be as bad as those you have mentioned, but he is a repeat offender, he hasn't learned a darn thing and reinstating him will do nothing to enforce the leagues substance abuse issues.

Reinstate him again....he'll fail another drug test, it's like the sky is blue, ricky gets high. Ricky and pot or peanut butter and jelly.

Its like Micheal Jackson and 12 year old boy.......Ricky and Pot are inseperatable

reinstate him.

Who would even want him at this point? You can't count on him staying clean and one slip up and you lose him for good. On top of that, it's been too long since he was actually a top RB.

October 1, 2007  07:51 PM ET

you mean to tell me no one needs a decent rb? cmon now there are tons of teams that could use him as a third down back....

October 1, 2007  07:52 PM ET

he's not a decent back anymore, he couldn't cut it in CANADA

October 1, 2007  07:55 PM ET

he didn't want to play. Everyone that has seen him says he looks great and is in shape. The difference being he would want to actually play this time.

October 1, 2007  07:58 PM ET

thats a great selling point to an NFL team, I didn't want to play up there, give me a chance and I'll want to play for you, the only man dumb enough to buy that is Al Davis

October 1, 2007  08:11 PM ET

"The difference being he would want to actually play this time."

And you base that on what? He "didn't want to play" in New Orleans. He "didn't want to play" in Miami. He "didn't want to play" in Canada. Not exactly a good track record to support your assertion.

Even if he is, as you say, still a "decent" RB why would anyone want him with his track record and knowing the odds of him actually dedicating himself to the game and keeping his nose clean are about 99-1 against.

didn't they say that about Randy Moss, and Corey Dillion? they were cancers and would never do anything?
