I totally respect GSP and his dominance in the welterweight division, no questions about it..

But

ya'll have to be kidding me about the "dream fight"?

How is this going to help anything besides the almighty dollar in Dana's pocket?

GSP is going to get crushed.. Anderson's Standup was prevalent the other night against Okami..

Dude looked like Muhammed Ali in the octagon, I was amazed.. He left his hands down, got mad, through very vicious combo's, I mean, who am I kidding, Anderson's knocking folks down with his **** jab these days..

lets be real..

from Dana White's standpoint, big money in this fight with GSP and Spider, guess that's why he's making it..

but

it won't look good for GSP's rep.. You have to remember this guy is pulling ALL Canada natives in, he's GREAT, wins Canadian of the year all time, and was sponsored by Gatorade...

seriously.. You don't want this ICON in the welterweight division to get crushed, do you?

I agree with Anderson, the only thing that might can beat him is his clone, or some heavyweights in the ufc.. lmao.. not serious, but kinda.

Remember this TD is about the fight not being a dream matchup and not an Anderson vs GSP TD. Throwing it out there for the Anderson nuthuggers.

In actuality this is a dream fight. Who are currently the undeniable 2 best pound for pound fighters in the sport? GSP and Silva. Why would any fan not want to see the top 2 guys go at it? That's silly and preposterous

I don't doubt Anderson would win, but to say he would crush GSP is over the top. GSP is the best wrestler in the sport. Anderson has shown that his weakness is wrestling. He's only fought two wrestlers in his UFC career and struggled with both. Henderson and Sonnen.

GSP also is a black belt in BJJ so he won't be subbed like Sonnen was. He also has top notch striking which he uses to set his takedowns up with.

Most MMA fans both hardcore and casual have been salivating over this fight for almost 3 years. They are the two best fighters in the sport. They need to fight now when Anderson is still at the top of his game.

GSP might lose but he will not be crushed, and it would not hurt his legacy or his marketability if he did lose. People would still view him as the best 170 fighter the sport has ever seen.

He's only fought two wrestlers in his UFC career and struggled with both. Henderson and Sonnen.

Yeah, he's choked both of them out.

here's why I'm high on Anderson Silva..

Win Streak: 14 fights

Consecutive Title Defenses: 9

Wins in title bouts: 10

knockdowns: 15

Sig. Striking percentage: 68.5

All those records are first in the UFC..

GSP might lose but he will not be crushed, and it would not hurt his legacy or his marketability if he did lose. People would still view him as the best 170 fighter the sport has ever seen.

Gsp's standup is NOWHERE near to Anderson's, that's the deciding factor for me, and why i brought up getting "crushed"..

He did choke both of them out but thats where having a black belt in BJJ and training under Renzo Gracie comes into play.

GSP has won 15 of 16 fights, 9 in a row, and 6 title defenses in a row. He also has 10 wins in title bouts like Anderson. So, whats your point?

Stand up? He's a black belt in Kyokushin. He trains Muay Thai under Phil nurse. He trains his boxing with Freddie Roach. With the threat of his takedowns, which are the best in MMA, it will be hard for Anderson to get his timing down.

This is a much more difficult fight than you think for Anderson. Should Anderson be the favorite? Sure he should. And as we speak the betting odds have Anderson -170 and GSP +140. When was the last time Anderson was under a 2-1 favorite? Its been quite a while. He was just a 6-1 favorite over Okami and 4.5 to 1 over Sonnen.

The oddsmakers have this fight right. It will be a close fight, and not a blowout.

The UFC needs to make this fight after GSP beat Diaz. Both guys will have cleaned out their divisions, and both guys are the top 2 ranked guys in MMA.

This is a dream fight. A fight the UFC needs to make for its fans. Would you rather have Anderson fight Okami again?

Would you rather have Anderson fight Okami again?

Jim, you're not funny...

I want to see Anderson Silva vs the Stann vs Sonnen winner..

Listen, we've already seen Sonnen can bring it to Anderson, I'm pulling for Sonnen to win against STann.. Anderson lost 4 rounds to Sonnen, then snatch, spider's web!

That's what I want to SEE

Chael Sonnen vs Anderson Silva 2

GSP has won 15 of 16 fights, 9 in a row, and 6 title defenses in a row. He also has 10 wins in title bouts like Anderson. So, whats your point?

Dude that cat lost to Matt Serra.. lmao..

Here's the dealio, it's dumb of Dana to set GSP up for destruction, against Mr. Silva.. Yeah, yeah, pound for pound versus pound for pound.. that's great and all, but how GSP gonna win against Anderson, in this soo called "dream" matchup.. Is GSP going to just lay on Anderson, and make another boring ass fight, like he's been doing? We all know Anderson will abuse him on the standup.. I don't think a "dream" fight should be boring, which would be if GSP did the onlY THing he could do to win, lay on 'em..

This td is not intended to diss GSP, he's one hell of an athlete.

I also want to see Anderson fight the Stann-Sonnen winner, but that does not take away from the fact that the GSP-Anderson fight is a dream fight.

Laugh all you want about GSP losing to Serra. This is MMA and anything can happen. GSP got caught, it happens to everyone. Look, Anderson lost to Ryo Chonan and Daiju Takase for gods sake. Who cares? Its so irrelevant in today's discussion.

You keep talking about Anderson abusing GSP in the standup but fail to realize that the threat of GSP's takedowns makes Anderson more cautious on the feet. Plus when has GSP been abused on the feet? He's got legit skills standing.

I can easily say GSP will abuse Anderson in the wrestling department. And lay and pray? Sonnen had the same gameplan and that turned into a fight of the year candidate.

So, all in all, you have failed to say why exactly having the 2 best fighters in the world is not a dream fight. LOL, and LMAO isn't getting you off this time.

People have their opinions on this fight, but who really knows until these guys get in there. Any true MMA would want to know exactly what would happen, and we can guess all we want but we will not know until it happens.

LETS DIGEST THIS SUBJECT GIVEN GSP BEATS DIAZ.. thanx.. lets say..

How smart is Dana.. I remember a couple years ago.. When the fight for best fighter was Anderson vs Fedor, Dana was holding on to Anderson tight, preaching he's the best in the world, not too many people at that time thought he was better than Fedor.. Look at it now.. lmao

GSP getting crushed? Time to watch a GSP fight Peachy.

I did, his last, shields lost by 1 point on two judges score cards.. I'm not hating on GSP, but Anerson's striking is lethal.. GSP couldn't handle it..

Nah, I've watched GSP and Spider for a long while now Jim, i think i'm on to something..

Saw GSP beat Hardy in the theaters, don't think I'm suspect, thanx..

1 point on two scorecards while the other scorecard had GSP sweeping 5 rounds. And then add in the fact that GSP fought two rounds with one eye, and Shields is no joke. I think Jake could give Anderson a tough fight too.

maybe..

This is like the Pac-Man versus Pretty Boy Floyd match-up all over again.

if Gsp beats Diaz, i think Dana's got this in mind for the Superbowl card..

September 1, 2011  05:24 PM ET

I think a GSP-Silva fight would hurt the UFC more than help it. Sure it could be the highest ever selling card but one of the golden boys if going down. And by one of them I mean GSP.

GSP would be dominated by Silva because he will give up too much size to Silva. Even at a catch-weight fight, Silva would still be favored.

I for one would no longer wish for the Silva-Gsp Fight. I'm thinking Silva-Jones is the match up I want right now.

September 2, 2011  09:13 AM ET

I think this is the first time I've ever seen PCH be correct....GSP would get crushed by Silva...

I've been saying that since before Jones beat Rua....it's about time some other people see the light...
