lets assume some things to set the stage
lets assume that bama/lsu both go undefeated with the obvious exception of their game

lets assume oklahoma is expsoed for what it is...a great team but struggling vs unranked mizzu..... and lets say they drop 1 game. maybe UT...maybe OSU

lets assume, for the fun of it...that boise is also undefeated

IF oklahoma has 1 loss
IF boise has 0 losses
IF bama/lsu maintain the current level of domination
IF nobody else is undefeated

bama/lsu should be given the title game

the loser of bama/lsu would deserve the spot ahead of a 1 loss oklahoma
a 1 loss bama/lsu would deserve the spot ahead of an undefeated boise

yes im a homer...and yes im watching LSU's defense destroy West Virginia

Yes, I will call you a homer.

Let the assumption games begin! If, if, if...

You weren't quite clear with all your scenarios, so I think we're assuming that the only undefeated team in the country besides Alabama/LSU would be Boise St.

I think your deal is that the SEC deserves two spots in the title game because it is the best conference. That maybe so, but I think you're missing the point. How can you possibly think that giving the loser of the SEC title game a shot at the BCS title is right?

How come another one loss team, or an undefeated Boise State can't get a crack at the SEC champion instead of the SEC team that already lost to them? Why?

You're insulting the conference champions with a min. one loss.

To tell you the truth, the SEC isn't even that dominant this year, with only four ranked teams, and Miss. St. barely got by mighty Louisiana Tech earlier today in OT.

If Alabama and LSU are undefeated when the SEC championship game is played, and Alabama loses, than that's just too bad for Alabama. They had their chance and blew it. Give your Alabama ANOTHER chance? No.

Undefeated Boise or a one loss conference champ goes over SEC runnerup. Duh.

[1]....you must not have done your homework

bama and lsu play each other during the reg season...they are in the SEC West
hence they CANT play in the sec champ game.....the winner of lsu/bama will play the winner of the sec east

[2]...you cant count
#2 Bama
#3 LSU
#12 South C
#14 Da Hogs
#15 Florida

and in the "other receiving votes", just out of the top 25 there are
Auburn, Miss State, Vanderbilt, UGA, and Tennessee

[3]...YES...I am saying if Bama goes undefeated and Boise is undefeated and LSU only has 1 loss (to bama) then LSU DESERVES THE SPOT OVER BOISE

Boise plays a cupcake schedule

Lets compare LSU's foes to Boise's to see WHO HAS THE HARDER ROAD

Oregon.........Georgia [LSU]
NW State......Toledo [BSU]
Miss State....Tulsa [draw]
W. Virg.........Nevada [LSU]
UK................Fresno State [draw..slight edge to bsu]
FL.................Colorado State [BSU]
Tenn.............Air Force [LSU]
Auburn.........UNLV [LSU]
Bama............TCU [LSU...by a mile!]
West Ken.....San Diego St [BSU]
Ole Miss.......WY [LSU]
Ark...............New Mex [LSU]

Ok, so let me get this straight.

You think that an LSU team that can't even win their own division should go to the BCS title game?

No.

Look. The SEC is practically awarded a spot in the BSC title game no matter what. You can't warrant an LSU or Alabama team that isn't even a divison champ a SECOND chance against the team they lost too.

This is almost like saying that the Yankees and Red Sox should play each other in the World Series. Do you think this should be the case if they had the two best records in baseball?

The same scenario can be made in every sport. The point I'm trying to make with college football is that you have to draw a line since there isn't a playoff. You just can't deny all the other teams across the country a chance at the championship because you think LSU or Alabama is a better team because of scheduling or what not.

LOL, and I like how you did the side-by side comparisons of the scheduling by each week. Sure, that's a good measuring stick. LOL.

At the end of the day, it's your opinion. And if you really think about it, you'll realize that you're just being an SEC homer.

The SEC champ isnt "GUARENTEED" a spot
they have to EARN IT
and they do so by playing the TOUGHEST SCHEDULES week to week

what division has the toughest defenses? SEC
what division puts more players into the NFL? SEC

If LSU is the nation's #2 team...and their only loss is to #1 bama

then why couldnt the championship game be between the #1 and #2 team?

think of it this way.......if bama goes undefeated...and boise is undefeated....and lsu has just 1 loss (to bama)........it would still make sense that LSU gets that spot

UNLESS YOU ARE STUPID ENOUGH TO THINK BOISE COULD BEAT LSU!!!!!!!!

please please tell me you dont think boise could beat lsu!

and please explain how you could say that boise deserves the spot ahead of lsu....WHEN EVERYONE KNOWS LSU WOULD CRUSH BOISE

Sir, I'm not stupid.

You seem to think that LSU is invicible when they're not. Boise State is a great football team, and you really don't have a good measuring stick to matchup the two schools.

You're also not addressing the point that you want a team that didn't even when its own division over teams that won their conferences. Dude?

Seriously?

No.

Unless something ridiculous happens where LSU's only loss is to an undefeated 'Bama and every team in football has at least two loses, you can't argue that a non-division winner should have a rematch against a team they already lost too.

Without a playoff system, the only fair thing to do is give as many teams a chance at the BCS title. You won't be doing that with Alabama (I think LSU will beat them ;)), becauseyou're essentially giving Bama two chances at the title.

And I didn't say the SEC is guaranteed, but more like PRACTICALLY guaranteed.

Denying potential one-loss conference champs like Stanford, Boise, Wisconsin, or OK because you think LSU (I think Bama) deserves a rematch because of strength of schedule or conference is ridiculous.

Wah.

Until that last drive, that is. 27-14.

September 24, 2011  10:37 PM ET

Hey Bear, what about the other undefeated teams like Wisconsin? GO MOUNTAINEERS! lol.

September 24, 2011  10:38 PM ET

LOL.

September 24, 2011  10:38 PM ET

That's a lot of assuming without enough details. Would be awfully tough to put a second SEC team in the NC if there is still an undefeated team floating around. Boise would have to look pretty bad while going undefeated for this scenario to play out.

"lets assume oklahoma is expsoed for what it is...a great team but struggling vs unranked mizzu"

-- Well, you assumed this too early, look at the score now, chachy.

September 24, 2011  10:52 PM ET

How is anyone supposed to even argue if you are just going to assume all of this stuff happens? If someone says "no it won't", you will sit there and say "we are assuming this plays out?" Ok, then what is there to argue? The fact that you are stubborn and think the SEC is the only relevant conference, when it clearly isn't?

September 24, 2011  11:02 PM ET

Uh oh. Happy learned how to putt....

September 24, 2011  11:03 PM ET

Wow... amazing kick off return.

I think we've all learned a valuable lesson in karma, tonight. Mmmm k?

September 24, 2011  11:27 PM ET

West Virginia didn't get the memo, Bear.

September 24, 2011  11:35 PM ET

Ehh... Y the hell would I want to watch a rematch?

i like wisconsin. they usually play good defense...solid run game...and only ask their QB to be efficient. reminds me a lot of ___________(insert most SEC teams)
But they usually drop a game they shouldnt. MSU last year, Iowa and Northwestern in 09, ...and in 08 they lost 5 of 6 in one stretch.

It is a simple concept.... Oklahoma has 1 loss...Boise goes undefeated.....LSU/Bama only have 1 loss between them. This isnt rocket science...its a plausable scenario. And I dont think the SEC is the only relevant conference...you idiot. But I do think we've had years where the #1 and #2 teams were from the same conference.... but the last few years the SEC winner has beaten the **** out of _____________(insert another team from another conference)

It's not very simple when you are using a lot of assumptions and ifs. Now I am an idiot for mocking you when you clearly express that you believe the SEC is the most amazing conference on the face of the earth? I'll take it.

Also, not to knock on the Crimson Tide, but Colt McCoy didn't play most of the game and last year was one of the worst displays of a national title game I ever saw from both teams, poor performance.

Still would have lost.

Oklahoma beat Missouri handily.

My prediction: Oklahoma goes undefeated and goes to the National Championship. Stanford goes undefeated, and goes to the National Championship. LSU and Alabama each lose 1 game, and miss out. The SEC riots and calls for a playoff, ironically after being so against it a year ago.

I actually like the sound of Oklahoma-Stanford.
