Q: Do Pierce, Allan and Garnett make Boston the team to beat in the east?

A: NO

I may be going against the grain here but I do NOT think that the Celtics are the team to beat in the east right now- I'll take the Pistions, the Bulls and the Majic over them off the top of my head- they are tier 2 right now in my mind with the Heat and Cavs

Reason Number 1- Brand new team- it will take time to gel- not that this will hurt them too much but enough to drop them to a low playoff seed and that means road games and harder matchups- round 1 vs the heat/ round 2 vs the Magic/ finals vs Detroit as a 5 seed ( for example) that is much harder road then say Bucks, Cavs, Magic as a 1 or 2 seed.

Reason 2: the coach sux - true he does have the trust of management- but Doc is the Norv turner of the NBA- well he might not be that bad- the Rich Kotite of the NBA?

Reason 3: Whos the point? - you didn't know either did you. Bonus points: who's the Center? Had to look that up too?

Yes these are vets but look at the wear already on them:

Garnett 39.4 Mpg -
Allen 40.3 Mpg- and he only played 55 games last year
Peirce- 37.0 Mpg- and he only played 47 Games last year

These 3 players have a collective THIRTY YEARS in the NBA- and it's not like they only played 20 minutes a game- and most have seen the playoffs so pile on a few more game-

point is none of these guys - save KG have been exactly Karl Malone in the Durability Department- and the fact that there is almost NOTHING else there- means there is going to be not a lot of rest for the big 3 and and if one of them goes down the season got that much longer.

Plus Doc Stinks.

Who else is in the East for them to compete with? You think Orlando is going to beat them out of the division? You are talking like these guys are over the hill. So you are saying the Celitcs will be a 4 or 5 seed and not making it to the Eastern Conf. finals? The only team I can see better in the East is the Pistons.
KG has never had star players like this before and with him posting up teams will have to double team that leaves the kickout to Allen and Pierce.
