These Questions were put forth in the CBS Sports magazine for each team: I will answer the Q yes or No.
Disagree? Throwdown!
Q: Can Randolph and Curry carry the Knicks to the playoffs?
A; Not this year-
Look at the playoff Locks
Heat, Cavs, Magic, Bulls, Pistons, Nets, Celtics,
Unless something stupid happens those are 7 of the 8 spots
and then we look at the Wizards and Raptors plus I think the Bucks are going to suprise.
Take the Knicks with that lousy coach are going to pass the Wiz and the Raptors?
Me Neither

I'll say this again.
On March 10th, the Knicks played Washington and beat them on a Steve Francis buzzer beater. That shot put the Knicks at 7th place in the Eastern Conference.
However, in that game, David Lee was hurt. Without their best rebounder and solid low post scorer, the Knicks lost 15 of their last 19. Stephon Marbury and Quentin Richardson also suffered season ending injuries during the stretch. Jamal Crawford had already done that.
This year, the Knicks are better than they were

As are the Raptors- and the bulk of the conference-
Tell me who do they knock out? The Celtics? The Nets?
7 spots are gone- and you think Zeke can coach em up to take the 8th?
Not this year

You can't count on 8 locks. Injuries can absolutely kill a team. Take Arenas off the Warriors, Lebron off the Cavs, Kidd off the Nets, Lewis off the Magic and they're done. The Knicks one main strength is pure depth. They have solid backups at each position (Except maybe C, but Curry is one of the best in the East).
You can't really call a team out of contention when they were in the mix right until the end and improved over the offseason.

they are a team of backups to a championshiop team! Other than Zack and curry
and you are absolutly correct - If Kidd, 'Bron, Howard, Bosh, KG, Deng, Hinrich, Wallace, Hamilton, Shaq, Arenas, Wade and Joe Johnson go down- the bobcats will get 65 wins and make the NBA finals
everything is IF
and they were 8 games under 500- tied for 11th with Charlotte- not exactly a close loss to the playoffs.
Lets not forget the coach stinks and he has caused additional problems for the club as well

The Knicks were 8 games under .500, AFTER LOSING 15 OF THEIR LAST 19! That's -11 right there, so before Lee, Marbury, QRich, and Crawford got hurt, THEY WERE A PLAYOFF TEAM!
The Knicks have two 20-PPG guys (ZRandolph is more versatile than you'd think, he's got a good shot), a couple great hustle REB guys (Lee, Chandler), shutdown defenders (Balkman, Jeffries, Collins) high energy guys (NRob, Crawford) versatile scorers (Nichols, QRich, Marbury). There's plenty of depth right there. Healthy=playoffs
