The Vikings don't need to bench Donovan McNabb, nor should they any time soon. You know why? It's not his fault.
The people proclaiming he needs benched are those that haven't watched the games or the Vikings fans who are irrational. If you watch a game, you see he doesn't have time to sit in the pocket and throw the ball. And the few rare times he does, he makes good throws.
Case in point is his first TD pass against the Chiefs. It was a perfectly thrown 40-yard pass to Devin Aromashadu.
Fast forward to the :20 second mark of this video to see the play
Which brings me to my next point: the wide receivers. Right now, Bernard Berrian needs benched. He's not performing on the field despite ALL the faith Frazier put into him this off-season and now he's becoming a distraction off the field. He doesn't have the speed anymore and has some of the worst hands in the NFL. The WRs just aren't getting open and when they are, McNabb is scrambling for his life.
If you put Ponder in, you're only going to get him injured, which was his achilles heel in college.
Let's be smart here people

McNabb's BALLIN, let me tell you. lmao
McNasty isn't doing it anymore..
in 4 games, McNasty's got 4 touchdowns.. wow.. see the greatness..??
a 78.1 qb rating..
and a 0-4 team...
I've been a McNabb supporter for a hot minute now, all last year in Washington, and for the first two games, but NOT ANYMORE..
Andy Ried I guess was this dude's guiding light..
haha j/k I respect Mcnabb trully, but he doesn't have his mojo anymore..
It's sad to see, he's ruining his chances of a hall of fame speech, McNabb's complacent in the 2nd half of games, when it counts the most, ONE WHOLE TD in the 2nd half of games THIS YEAR..
YOu do the math, HBK.

Every stat you gave has nothing to do with McNabb himself. I repeat, have you watched a game? Like I said, in 90% of the cases, McNabb doesn't have time to throw. And he isn't as good as he once was in terms of scrambling, so he is suffering.
I think the 2nd half have nothing to do with McNabb and most to do with the coaching staff not making suitable adjustments.
Like I've said in the comments, leave Donovan in the games for now and let him take the beating. Let the offensive line get things fixed a little bit, see if the Vikings can make a run. You need to wait much longer than 1/4 the way into the season. It's been just 4 games. You brought McNabb in for more than 4 games. I realize Ponder is the future, but this is the present and that's not what we need him for.
Bringing Ponder in now is a silly solution to a complex problem. The Vikings problems aren't at the QB position. They are at the OL and DB. Fix those issues first and then get to Ponder

It's funny you bring up Allen Iverson, because McNabb is playing like he did when he left the nba, half ****..
I wouldn't rock a purple McNasty jersey, I don't have a slot on my fantasy bench for the guy, and the Vikes, like it or not, ARE, 0-4.
I'm not the biggest Ponder fan, I know WEbb's there too, but something's gotta give..
We all know how vital the quarterback position is for a team's success in the nfl..
Mcterrible, he needs another Chunky soup commercial, and a little hagen daaz on the couch..
McNabb ranks 26th in the league with a 78.1 passer rating.
McNabb might not "suck" persay, but like i said, he doesn't have the mojo, or fire, that was left in philly..

So you've told me over and over how bad McNabb is, but haven't offered up any type of solution.
And I can also tell all you've done is watched Sportscenter and read McNabb's stats to make your decisions. You haven't addressed the fact that the OL sucks, the WRs (particularly Berrian) suck, and they just aren't getting the job done.
If you bring in Ponder, how is that going to change the OL play? How is that going to change the fact the coaching staff has far too much faith in Berrian and won't not play them? Will it change the fact that they are one of the most penalized teams in the NFL?
There are problems across the board with the Vikings. They are all small, fixable problems, but problems nonetheless. And if you throw in a rookie QB who doesn't have a full grasp of the offense I'm sure given the fact he didn't have OTA's into the mix, it's going to cause more problems. 4 games not the year and you're putting in the rookie QB means your giving up on the season, which is not a message you want to send.
There's a lot of problems with the Vikings, but the answer isn't Ponder.

Is MCNABB THE FKNING FUTURE?
the Vikings spent a 12th overall pick on PONDER, no he can't help the O LINE in 2011, but he CAN help the Vikings in 2012..
Give McNabb one or two more starts to prove himself, if they LOSE BOTH, bring in the FSU ALUM..
thanks for you time..
MCNABB'S NOTHING LIKE HE USE TO BE, THAT'S A FACT JACK..
You're a semi right, in that it's NOT ALL Mcnabb's fault, how many players on are a roster?
