MAFTE round 1 (Which NFL week 5 matchup will have the closest final score)

I'm going to pick the seahawks at pittsburg to be the closest game this week. both teams are 3-1 at the top of thier division. both have strong offenses and D which should keep the game close. both teams have great offensive weapons (seahawks- hasselbeck, alexander) (steelers- Big Ben , parker, ward) the seahawks D is allowing about 13 points a game and the steelers D is allowing 11.5 points a Game. both of thier D's are in the top 10. thier offenses are both averaging above 20 points a game. This game will come down to just a few points and will probably be determined by who ever makes the fewest mistakes.

That's a great pick but I'm gonna go with two downright (below) average teams--the Jets vs. the Giants. Both teams are pretty meh on both sides of the ball--they're both in the bottom half of the NFL in, well, everything--and I think that will make for a close, evenly matched game. The Giants' defense is coming off a great game vs. Philly (thanks Justice!) and the Jets will be hungry after a comeback came just short. This game is already must win for both teams so I expect a close, hard fought matchup.

I dont agree with you there. the jets havent looked that great on either side of the ball. but the Giants D wanst just great it was AMAZING!!! Tied nfl record for most sacks in one game! The offense will be good with Eli who has been a plesent suprise this year and burress and tommer to throw to. they should beat the jets about 35-20 on the other hand both the steelers and hawks both lead thier division and both have equal talent on both sides of the ball. i see the steelers winning 27-24 in a VERY close game.

Well, the Giants got half of their sacks on a rookie who couldn't block my 150 lb frame and didn't have to face Brian Westbrook, which would've massively changed the game. Eli's been alright but he's still throwing picks and the Jets just fell short last week so they'll be hungry for a win, especially vs. the Giants in a double home game of sorts. I think the Hawks are gonna study last week's game film REAL close and figure out how to stop and beat the Steelers. I think they'll pull out a 10 point win and the Giants will win by either a TD or less.

Well the seetlers are home so i have them winning by a field goal. They are both leaders in their divisions by only a game and will want to try to put some distance between the others in their division. the jets havent done anything this year i dont see them having a chance aginst the giants. the offense of the giants is to good. The giants would have gotten all those sacks with or without westbrook. westbrook isnt very big and isnt the greatest blocker. as for eli throwing picks, everyone does it happens but he has improved alot.

I wasn't talking about Westbrook's blocking ability--I was talking about his ability to catch screen passes like crazy, which are a blitz's biggest enemy. And even if it is Chad Pennington, the Giants pass defense is beyond atrocious and you or I could fill in for a d-back and get burned just as well as they do.

Seattle looks REALLY good and I think they're gonna pull into Heinz field and get a convincing win. The Giants' offense is anything but too good, predictable is the word I would use and I think even the Jets can counter them.

My predictions: Seahawks20 - Steelers 10; Giants 14 - Jets 10.

Cool throwdown.

Yeah, you should thank Winston "Six Pack" Justice. He blew most of the game. I wonder how many of Umenyoria's (sp?) cleat marks he still has on his chest.

are we doing a loser forefits thing or...?

Report Offensive Comment

no its not an in game TD.

Report Offensive Comment

Polamalu and Hampton most likely being out is also a big factor for this game so....

dammit, i hate being at UConn sometimes. i have Pats/Browns instead of Giants/Jets. weak sauce. i want to actually SEE if i'm going to be right. meh, maybe my Giants will get some luck without me watching.
