Lebron James should be supporting the home town teams - Browns & Indians. He shouldn't be cheering for the Yankees in Cleveland at Game 1 of the ALDS

I am sitting hear watching the opening ALDS game between Cleveland and New York, and they do an interview in the stands with Lebron James. Lebron is wearing a Yankee Cap. When asked if it was a joke, or if he had lost some sort of bet, Lebron proudly proclaimed that no, he was a Yankee fan and was rooting for New York -- in CLeveland. Labron went on to say that he was a Dallas Cowboys fan and not a Browns fan. I believe this is a betrayal and slap in the face of the Cleveland fans, most, if not all of whom cheer Lebron when he takes the basketball court in Cleveland. I know of no other professional athlete who would be so brazen and naive to wear the colors of an opposing team in a champonship series being played in your own home town. Lebron is wrong to do this. Professional athletes ought to support all of their home town teams in public.

just because lebron plays for the clevland indians dosnt mean he has to support his other team ins he cite hes in i mean i love the twins if i grow up and for example end up in the millwake bucks oraganaztion im not gonna cheer for the brewers and green bay packers just because i play for a team in the same city as them lebron is a amercian citizen its his choice if the cavs dont like it theyll get rid of him(wich i hihlydoubt)

When the Red Sox won the pennant in 2004, the following year when they unveiled the pennant - the entire Patriots team walked onto Fenway Park. When the Pats opened their season, Curt Schilling, still on crutches, hobbled onto the field to a tremendous standing O. Professional sports teams support their brothers in the same city --- they bond with this common home team fervor. I think James is a bit young and immature and he does not yet realizer just how many Cleveland fans he has disappointed

yes but thats the redsox and the pats wat if the patroits players like the red sox whta if curt shilling loves the pats then he can go ahead and like them leborn is an amercian citizen he can like the yankees no one as the right to stop him i dont hink the true fans of lebron would care if tghey are realy fans then they will understand that lebron has to like wateva team he wants

lets do it

Hey, the Yanks are getting their **** handed to them.

I say, keep cheerin' LeBron.

Think about it. If you're a basketball player from Manhattan, been a Yankee fan all your life, and get drafted by the Celtics, you think you're gonna don a Red Sox cap for the cameras? Hades to the naw!!!

Report Offensive Comment

Nonsense. In sports other than basketball he's simply a fan just like you and me. The City of Cleveland doesn't pay his salary, the Cavs do.

Kevin Garnett has walked around in his BoSox garb for years. I guess it's a good thing he plays for the Celts now,eh? Wouldn't want to offend Twins fans when they play the Red Sox...

I don't see why it's bad that he has favorite teams that aren't in Cleveland. It's not like he knew he was going to Cleveland when he started rooting for his teams. If anything, I'd call him loyal (considering I hate Lebron, it's hard for me to compliment him). I'm sure alot of us have favorite teams that aren't in the place where we live or work.

I think i agree with larry a little here. James is an ambassador to the sport of b-ball from Cleveland and although it's his right to root for whomever he wants, i think it shows poor taste on his part..

..and btw, larry, go back to the Jamaican bobsled...

And Noon - that was quite a giant step for you to take; I agree with your choice of words - Ambassador.. Go Jamacia!

mcdadmcall Sorry I do not play with children

Report Offensive Comment

You can have a favorite team but let's be respectful of the home town team --- don't go into the stadium wearing the colors of the enemy ---I hope they boo his sorry **** right off the court

Report Offensive Comment

he should be supporting whoever the hell he wants to. this is a complete and total non-story. does it really matter? no. something tells me the people of Cleveland will forget all about this when the NBA season starts.

Report Offensive Comment

This is almost like Brady wearing a NY hat that one day. What does it matter who these guys root for when they are on their own time? As long as Favre doesn't become a Bears fan and starts throwing games I don't care what other team he pulls for.

Report Offensive Comment

children?? how do you figure??

i have more td's and have been around longer than you. i gave you the first argument why do you have to be childish

Report Offensive Comment

I dont know if you feel like you should be offended for us clevelanders but save it. I can promise you that YOU and ESPN care alot more about which baseball cap Lebron wears than all of us here in Cleveland do. Have you even seen an episode of MTV Cribs? These guys have million of dollars to blow so their closet look like a sporting good store.
- I SEE YOUR FRO BOSTON -
GET A LIFE and save your being offended for a time when you'll really need it like when Lebron wears a Indians cap to support the Tribe when they spank Boston in the ALCS or when Boston College gets exposed and drops out of the polls.....You mental midget!

Report Offensive Comment

Lebron wants to be the richest man in the world so he has something in common with the Yankees.

Report Offensive Comment

So if he was a Yankee's fan when he was young...he should automatically switch because another city pays him...get over it Larry

Report Offensive Comment

He is being paid to play pro basketball in Cleveland but he is not being paid to support the Indians. what's the big deal for a guy wearing a cap in support for his favorite team ? Unless he is **** and in love with D.Jeter
