I AM GOING WITH THE SEAHAWKS. THEY HAVE THREE OUTSTANDING LINEBACKERS. AT MLB THEY HAVE GOOD OL' LOFA. HE IS A GREAT YOUNG LINEBACKER THAT HAS A CHANCE TO BE SOMETHING SPECIAL. HE IS A SMART PLAYER THAT IS ALWAYS AROUND THE BALL. HIS LEADERSHIP SKILLS ARE OUTSTANDING AS WELL. HIS SPEED ALLOWS HIM TO EXCEL IN PASS COVERAGE AND HIS HITTING/TACKLING SKILLS ALLOW HIM TO BE A GREAT RUN STOPPER.
AT THE OLB POSITION THEY HAVE JULIAN PETERSEN WHO IS A SACKING MACHINE. HE IS STRONG, RIPPED AND VERY FAST. NOT TOO MANY DEFENSIVE PLAYERS CAN GET INTO THE BACKFIELD AS QUICK AS PETERSEN. HE IS VERY ATHLETIC AND CAN COVER THE BEST TE'S AND CAN KEEP UP WITH MOST WR'S. HE IS ALSO HAS A NON-STOP MOTOR.
LEROY HILL IS THE OTHER OLB AND IS THE LESSER KNOWN OF THE THREE. HE IS SUPER AGGRESSIVE AND AN EXCELLENT TACKLER. HILL IS A SOLID RUN STOPPER AND ALSO IS ABOVE AVERAGE IN PASS COVERAGE. HE, AT TIMES, OVER PURSUES BUT HAS THE ABILITY TO RECOVER QUICKLY.
WHILE THERE ARE BETTER INDIVIDUAL LB'S IN THE LEAGUE I THINK THESE THREE ARE THE BEST GROUP. WITH SEVERAL PROBOWLS BETWEEN LOFA AND PETERSEN; HILL WILL SOON FOLLOW.

I like the Seahawks lineup, I do. As for being the best set of LBs out there? No. Just off the top of my head I can name:
Redskins: London Fletcher, an admittedly aging vet but who has a ton of talent left in the tank. HB Blades, a great looking rookie with the bloodlines to be awesome. Rocky Macintosh is a stud. Marcus Washington is an amazing athlete who covers a ton of field and makes many many plays.
Just down the raod in Baltimore, theres ray Lewis, Terrel Suggs, bart Scott, and Jarret Johnson, all better than Seattle as well.
Over in NE, they have Mike Vrabel, Tedy Bruschi, Adalius Thomas, and Rosevelt Colvin, not to mention Junior Seau and Larry Izzo.
I would take all those squads over Seattle.
NORCALSURFER777 said 10/05, 12:15 PM
I see your point with Baltimore it pains me to say that but you make a great argument. They are kind of old though and too cocky. NE's guys are good but again I think Seattle's linebacker's are more athletic and younger. I am sorry I don't think the Redskins linebackers are anywhere near Seattle's. That could be that I don't know a lot about them.
Hail2daSkins says RIP #21 said 10/05, 12:21 PM
Well, lets look at the stats attached to your claim. In reference to tackles this yr made by any LB spot, the top Seattle player is #15 on the list, Tatupu. In front of him is not one but 2 Detroit lions LBs, Paris Lenon and Ernie Sims. Listing the league out by total tackles for an overall defense, Seattle is 13th. LBs are the main stopping force on teams that are good against the run, lets see...Seattle is 13th. I sense a pattern here. Seattle is a team near the top one-third of the league but not even sniffing the top 10, thus there is no way the have the best LB corps in the league. I could go on with the stats, but to be real, i dont see the point.
NORCALSURFER777 said 10/05, 12:27 PM
Seattle's line backers have to do a lot of things. I think they are very important with the passing defense. They generally aren't rotated out on passing downs and that speaks volumes for their ability. The season is only a 1/4 over and I think Tatupu will finish in the top of linebacker catagories. Petersen will finish in top for sacks. Hill be there for tackles. But I will admit The Ravens might be the best. I don't think stats tell the full story on how good players are.
Hail2daSkins says RIP #21 said 10/05, 12:33 PM
I will agree that stats can be a little decieving, but when your team defense hovers around 13th in just about every category, well thats about the talent level. You havent played a really tough schedule so that cant be it. The bottom line and the idea that led to your downfall on this one, is thatthe Seattle LB corps isnt the best, they arent even top 5. Tatupu is really good, but he isnt a top 10 LB by himself. I rest my case and give it to the people, the voters. I whole-heartedly disagree with your assertion and stand by my arguements.

Report Offensive CommentNorCal, again with the Seahawks. In the last three days he has made claim that :
1. Mike Holmgren is the best coach to play for in the NFL.
2. Seattle is the worst place in sports for visiting teams to play in.
3. The best linebackers in the league are....you guessed it, Seattle.
I'm sure in the days to come we will hear that Nate Burleson is the most underappreciated WR in the league.

Report Offensive Commentgood call including the Bucs, powersj. How about Kansas City: Derrick Johnson, Donnie Edwards, Napoleon Harris?
I'd say Baltimore and New England are top 2, easy. Washington, Tampa Bay, Seattle, and Kansas City are close as the second tier.

Report Offensive CommentI'm gonna go with the stats and a complete non-homer pick and go with what the stats are showing so far this year. The stats show Kansas City has the best trio of linebackers in the league.
Donnie Edwards has 29 tackles - 23 solo, a pick and a sack;
Napoleon Harris has 34 tackles - 24 solo, a pick, a sack and a forced fumble;
Derrick Johnson has 26 tacles - 23 solo, a pick and 3 sacks.
They may not be getting all the press of some of the "top" defenses, but no other team has 3 backers among the league leaders at their position.

Report Offensive CommentAs much as I'd hate to say it the Cowboys LB corps is doing pretty well. They will be tested severely in just over a week. Ware is a beast, and the Spencer/Ellis combo is something else. The ILB's aren't spectacular, but they do their job well enough.

Report Offensive CommentHail2dSkins..you're argument doesn't hold water...you talk about stats and that 2 Detroit LB's have more tackles than Lofa...But of the teams you named (Baltimore, Washington, and NE) nobody on those teams has more tackles than Tatupu. None. So that doesn't matter. Who's 2nd in the NFL in Sacks? Julian Peterson....Tatupu is 9 tackles behind the league leader..that's 1 good game worth of tackles.
Tackles are the most useless stat to use in this argument....more tackles means your offense sucks and can't stay on the field. Useless stat.
