Seriously, I dare you to find a defensive coordinator who is worse than Juan Castillo.
31 Points allowed against Buffalo.
29 Points allowed against NYG.
35 Points allowed against Atlanta.
24 Points allowed against San Francisco.
Okay cool, he held St Louis to 13 points - they haven't scored more than 16 points on anyone this season. Big accomplishment there.
With Juan Castillo calling the defense, playing against Philadelphia is a guaranteed 100+ yard rushing game. They've allowed five straight 100+ yard (team stat, not individual) rushing games so far this season. Including:
- Frank Gore's biggest game of the season.
- Michael Turner's biggest game of the season.
- Cadillac William's biggest game of the season.
- Ahmad Bradshaw's biggest game of the season.
Under Juan Castillo, the Philadelphia Eagle's pass defense is almost equally pathetic. So far this season, they've allowed:
- A career high four touchdown performance against Matt Ryan. Keep in mind Ryan only scored two touchdowns this season against Chicago, Tampa Bay and Seattle combined.
- A four touchdown performance against Eli Manning, who was playing with a decimated receiving corp.

I found him, (Un). He resides in St. Louis and is coaching the Rams pathetic defense. He has been their DC since 2009 and I had never heard of the guy until researching for this TD.
They have allowed 31 points to the Eagles
28 points to the Giants
37 to points to Baltimore
17 points to the Redskins
The Rams are allowing 179.8ypg on the ground, 32nd in the NFL. Allowing almost 40 ypg more. Oh, and 5.3ypc, 31st.
The Eagles are allowing 5.0ypc, 27th.
The Rams are allowing, 224.8ypg through the air, 13th.
They allowed Torrey Smith's career high 152 yards and 3 TD performance. He has 6 catches for 153 for the season. He is a rookie WR from Maryland.
The Eagles are 7th against the pass.
The Rams are allowing 28.3ppg, 31st.
The Eagles are allowing 26.4ppg, tied for 26th.
"- A career high four touchdown performance against Matt Ryan"
Matt Ryan is not a bad QB, (Un). He has some offensive talent in Roddy White, Julio Jones, Harry Douglas and Tony Gonzalez.
Joe Flacco threw for almost 400 yards and 3 TD's against the Rams in Baltimore's 37-7 win.
Good luck, (Un).

The problem with pointing the finger at Ken Flajole is the fact that the Rams head coach, Steve Spagnuolo, is a former defensive coordinator himself - and likely has his hands heavily into Flajole's work. It's impossible to say where Spagnuolo's decisions end and Flajole's responsibilities begin.
Whereas in Philadelphia, Andy Reid wants almost nothing to do with the defense. He's an offensive minded head coach, and leaves everyone on the defense to answer to Juan Castillo.
Flajole has coached defensive football since 1994 (17 years). He's been coaching defense, with an emphasis on LB and DB in the NFL since 1998 (13 years).
I'm pretty sure he knows a lot more about NFL defenses than Juan Castillo - a guy who hasn't coached defense since he was a high school defensive coordinator in 1989. Castillo's entire NFL career has been spent on the offensive side of the ball until this year.
With St Louis' roster, it really shouldn't be a surprise that the defense is struggling.
However, Juan Castillo has Nnamdi Asomugha, Asante Samuel, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Trent Cole, Cullen Jenkins and Jason Babin.

Andy Reid was the genius that promoted an offensive linemen coach to DC. He might actually figure it out by the end of the season. You don't think he should have someone helping him?
The Eagles pass defense isn't doing all that badly, they are 7th in passing yardage allowed, 211.8ypg.
The Rams are 13th and both are god awful against the run.
Philly's defense isn't that bad. You know what is hurting the Eagles defense a lot? Michael Vick's 7 INT's and 6 fumbles. Putting the defense t a serious disadvantage.
His 1st series vs Buffalo, he threw an INT. Buffalo took over on their own 46 yard line. They pronptly scored a TD. In the 2nd quarter, Nick Barnett picked off a Vick pass and returned it for a TD.
That is the Eagles season so far in a nutshell. How is that the D's fault?
That is putting the defense in a very bad place. 13 turnovers in 5 games. That is horrendous.
The Rams have some defensive talent in DE's Chris Long and James Hall, DT Fred Robbins, MLB James Laurinaitis, WLB Ben Leber, FS Quintin Mikell, and CB's Bradley Fletcher and Justin King.
(Un) said 10/10, 11:36 PM
Did you just list Bradley Fletcher and Justin King as comparable talent to Asante Samuel and your boi (PCH's words) Nnamdi Asomugha? Let's be serious now.
The biggest problem with Juan Castillo's defense can't be measured quantitatively. It's pure flawed defensive theory.
1. Castillo insists on spreading out his four man defensive line in the controversial "wide nine" stance. The formation leaves extra large gaps between each lineman, creating huge running lanes for the opposing offense. Castillo is leaving his young linebackers in position to get exploited.
2. Asomugha is arguably the best man-to-man cover corner in the NFL. Subsequently, he's terrible in zone coverage - which is exactly where Castillo insists on using him. Now Asomugha is getting burned by relative unknowns like Victor Cruz. Try blaming that on Vick.
3. In Week 3, Castillo thought it would be a good idea to reshuffle his entire linebacking corp. Every single linebacker played a new and different LB position - which they all stunk at.
These are a mere sample of Castillo's moves. He's inexperienced, failing with highly touted talent, and just plain bad **** crazy bad.

They are capable CB's. I never compard them. Please don't put words in my mouth. And lets not act like the Rams have no defensive talent. They do, there is a reason their pass defense is not that far off Philly's.
I noticed how you didn't comment on Mister Vick.
What can a DC do to prevent an INT being returned for a TD?
In the 3rd quarter of the Buffalo game, Jason Avant fumbled. The Bills recovered the ball at Philly's 37 yard line. In this case, Philly managed to hold the Bills to a FG. But Buffalo had excellent field position.
In the 4th quartter, Vick was intercepted by Barnett again, stopping a drive at the Buffalo 26. They lost by 7 points. I don't think the defense can be blamed too much for this loss. Not when Ryan Fitzpatrick was limited to 193 yards (on 21 of 31 passing) with 1 TD. This is not the only game where this has been an issue, just the latest example.
Castillo is learning on the job. As you pointed out, Ken Flajole has been a DC much longer. The Rams DC is worse.
