Yes App. State is a Div. II school, but USC was ranked #2 and had been playing great football. This practically ruins their chances of competing for a national championship.
Browns Rule said 10/07, 12:54 AM
i think this is the biggest upset stanford beating usc but michigan lost to a no name school who the heck loses to a no name school
CaptainObvious* BS said 10/07, 12:56 AM
True, but Michigan was ranked #5 in the preseason polls and lost to Oregon the next week. They then beat Notre Dame, but barely beat Penn. Thus, they were overrated at #5. USC was ranked #2 and for a reason. This is a bigger upset. USC may now be out of a national championship run.
Browns Rule said 10/07, 01:01 AM
true but they can still probally come back and go to the bcs depending on where they are ranked at but michigan still lost to a no name school
CaptainObvious* BS said 10/07, 01:08 AM
And Stanford is a big time program right now? SI ranked them 95th in their power ranking. They lost 41-3 to Arizona State. They knocked off a national contender. App. State knocked off a team that was overranked, proof by their loss to Oregon the following week. If USC comes back and still threatens LSU, they lost to one of the worst DIV I schools right now.

USC playing great football? Are you sure? Tell me you didn't watch the game last week where they should have lost. They were horrible against an average joe team. The only reason they won is because ya boy didn't fair catch that punt and fumbled at the end.

Not to mention App St couldn't even win out at their own level. Mich was #5, USC shouldn't have even been ranked #2.

Yeah, but they beat Nebraska and Washinton State decisively. And they were expected to battle LSU for the Nation Championship. Michigan wasn't.

Who's to say they weren't expected to get to the championship game? They were only #5 before they even played, they had a hell of a recruiting class, and they are better then USC, especially with Booty injured now.

Ohio or Cal... Either will be a hell of a game, not to mention LSU will have a good game with Auburn coming up soon

They were ranked #5 and expected to contend, but everyone thought it would be between USC and LSU.

That is a close one. Stanford is pretty horrible this season. I thought App. St. won their title a couple of times lately?? Michigan and USC must have been a wee bit overrated this year. But Ill go with USC losing as the biggest upset. Rough weekend for Socal football.

Yeah but Oregon is also another top team, I wouldn't overlook them.

I agree, Oregon is a good team. But to me it showed that their #5 ranking was a little high.

Sorry Josh, but App St IS the 2-time defending nat'l champ at their level. If you know college football, you know there's more teams than the 112 Div. I teams. They lost this year but all that stuff means nothing until they get to the playoffs.

I never said App wasn't good, I said for them to beat a top div I team you would think they could run the table in their own div. I do know football and I also know a div II school beating a div I school is on par with a college team beating an NFL team.

Standford is in the Pac-10, they have stiff competion every year; App does not.
App/Mich is a bigger upset.

Josh, that analogy is ridiculous. Just because a school has more students doesn't mean they have better athletes. If you're gonna use that kind of logic, I see I'm way to advanced to discuss this futhermore...Do you even know how they decide which schools are Div I & Div II? If so, you wouldn't have made an asinine statement like that.

I LOVE that USC beating a #14 Nebraska and Wash St decisively is somehow something to brag about. Isnt a number one team SUPPOSED to do that? Get off the bandwagon... Stanford just showed USC for what they really are. OVERRATED!!!!!
