If the Lakers have to decide who to trade for: Who should it be? Dwight Howard or Chris Paul?

Dwight Howard.

Andrew Bynum is a good player, but the Lakers need some help in the frontcourt. He still has a bright future, but he isn't the dominant post player they need. Pau Gasol would be better off as a 3rd option behind Kobe Bryant and Howard.

Howard would give them a dominant defensive center to implement in Mike Brown's defense. Brown had an excellent defense during his tenure in Cleveland. Offensively, it would give the Lakers a very good option as Kobe starts to slow down.

I say they trade Bynum, a future 1st round pick, and a

Disagree???

Throwdown!!!

Chris Paul..

easy answer.. sure, Dwight pulling the Kazaam would be cool, but CP3 would benefit the team more..

You think they need an upgrade from Bynum, I say Bynums' durable, I say Derek Fisher needs to be upgraded.

no joke..

hats off to D-fish, but Cp3 is too young, too explosive, and would re-energize a lot of players on that team.

Also, think of Cp3 and Kobe running the show, insane.

"Chris Paul..

easy answer.. sure, Dwight pulling the Kazaam would be cool, but CP3 would benefit the team more.."

How would he benefit the team more?

Andrew Bynum averaged just 14.4ppg and 9.6rpg while Pau Gasol struggled in the postseason. Dealing for Howard would give them a capable 22-25ppg (on just 12-13 shots per game) scorer next to Kobe. Whatever they get from Gasol would be gravy.

Sounds good in theory, doesn't it? But....you said made a key statement. CP and Kobe running the show. Kobe will not let anyone run the show while he is in Los Angeles. The Lakers will upgrade to an elite PG when he retires in 2-3 years.

With a trio of Kobe, Howard, and Gasol? The Lakers would be favorites in the West. They would make it back to the NBA Finals.

Kobe will not let anyone run the show while he is in Los Angeles.

He'll have to eventually, Cp3's legs arn't butt dragging like Kobe's. I'm sorry, but nobody saw a decrease in performance this past year?

it's very relevant Kobe's leaned a smidgen away from slashing to the goal as well.

Kobe and Shaq didn't work, how the hel* you think Superman and the black mamba will coincide?

i mean, for real..

Cp3 is a HUGE upgrade from Fisher, i'm sorry.

And Dwight, he's a beast, best center in the league, but the man that makes the team move, the man that is the admiral of the attack, has more significance on this laker team. And lets be real, Cp3's suing the leage for this veto, or says he is. Why wouldn't he pick a tantrum, he wants to be there.

So glad the trade was nixed.

Pau Gasol and Lmar Odom was way too much for Chris Paul.

"He'll have to eventually, Cp3's legs arn't butt dragging like Kobe's."

Ebentually? Yes, when Kobe is retired they will get an elite PG.

"I'm sorry, but nobody saw a decrease in performance this past year?"

25.3ppg, 5.1rpg, 4.7apg, 1.2spg are still excellent numbers, boi!!!!

it's very relevant Kobe's leaned a smidgen away from slashing to the goal as well."

"i mean, for real..

"Cp3 is a HUGE upgrade from Fisher, i'm sorry."

Again, you just don't seem to get the point. Kobe handles the ball, like you handle Kwame Brown's nuts, because you are Captain of the Kwame Brown Fan Club. He brings the ball up, he iniates the offense, CP and him would be like oil and water.

They don't mix very well.

"And Dwight, he's a beast, best center in the league"

Yes, he is. CP isn't clearly the best PG in the League. I say the Lakers offer Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom and a future 1st to bring Dwight to Los Angeles. The Magic aren't League owned so this trade should go through.

Dude, the only nuts you're holding, are supermans.

I highly doubt I'll ever do that..

Sure, Dwight locks down the center position, but who's best fit to distribute the ball in L.A? I have an answer, how about Cp3?

Derek Fisher is like old news.

Fisher isn't hitting anymore .04 second game winners, boi!

Chris Paul is a huge addition, and a big weight in the nba, he's arguably the best point guard in the league..

I mean, come on, Cp3 couldn't even make it to the Lake show, Stern thought it was injust..

Bynum isn't Dwight, but Derek DEFINETELY aint Cp3, all i'm saying..

If the new CBA makes this scenario possible, it's a colossal failure. The entire purpose of the new deal was supposedly to prevent teams from being able to stockpile top talent in this fashion. The Lakers stealing Gasol a few years back for a bag of peanuts exposed the biggest problem with the NBA. This deal would expose the new CBA as a joke not worth the paper it's written on.

You 100% trade for Dwight Howard. He will be the best center in the league for the next 10 years. CP3 may not even be the top PG right now, especially with his durability issues.

The only possible problem with Gasol being the 3rd option is that he tends to disappear already, so with fewer touches he may be even less of a force, but with Howard inside opening up things and grabbing rebounds, Gasol could get a lot of easy junk points inside.

This was debated on ESPN First Take. Skip said Paul, Stephen A Smith said Howard. I agree with Howard being the one that you want. The Lakers cannot be a force unless they have a big man, and let's be honest, Bynum is not getting the job done. Paul would be a good pick, don't get me wrong, but Howard's presence is more of a need for the Lakers.
