I'm gonna go with Brian Scalabrine, everyone loves him. He gets a standing O whenever he gets in.
Also he has a deadly 3!
lol good luck...

I'm going to go with the Human Victory Cigar aka
Darko Milicic
Also widely loved. Played for an evil coach (Larry Brown) who held him back because he was a rookie (according to popular culture)
Any time the Pistons had a big lead, the crowd would shout to get Darko put in the game
When he finally got his chance................he still stunk
There's a popular blog named after him "Free Darko"
He's an international celebrity and the answer to numerous trivia questions: "Which NBA player was chosen after LeBron James but before Dwayne Wade and Carmelo Anthony"
Scalabrine was more of a novelty act. The crazy name, the hair color, his complexion.
Darko was the real deal.

Everyone loves Brian Scalabrine. Remember that game when he had the game against the Wizards and he was getting MVP chants??
That game was on the road by the way.
He has a GREAT nickname.

Darko Milicic actually had real fans.
There are real NBA fans out there who believe that if Larry Brown had given him some time as a rookie and helped to mold his game, he would have been a great player.
Darko himself believes it.
In fact, Darko is still in the league because some NBA GM's really believe that one day he'll unlock his "potential"
That championship season, Darko was as much as a story as the Pistons. Everyone wanted to see what he could do
Free Darko

During the Pistons championship season, even up until the last game against the Lakers, many fans thought that Darko would finally get his chance to shine.
But it wasn't to be.
Outside of LeBron, Darko was largely the biggest story out of that rookie class.
Carmelo was looked upon as a scorer, Wade was showing glimpses of being great but he was on a Miami team with only a few spare parts.
The rookie story was LeBron's play and Darko's lack of it.
Amongst a certain segment of the fan base, Darko was going to be the next great Euro center.
Point being, Darko's fans during his championship season, really believed that he was on the path to greatness. His popularity was based on him potentially being a very good NBA player.
Scalabrine was more or less a sideshow. A quirky, funny looking sideshow.
But a sideshow nonetheless

This is kind of a badly worded TD. The TD states:
''Most popular player on a championship team who rarely gets PT during the season or playoffs....''
To me that says that this is a player that may play in mop up time (the last 2-3 minute of a blowout if he is lucky). Scalabrine in the 5 years with Boston averaged almost 15 minutes/game. That's almost 25% of an NBA game. With that type of argument, you can include most anybody in this argument. I, like right, was under the understanding that you were to choose a player that rarely played for a championship team that won a championship in one particular year.

I didn't really notice. The Celtics only won one championship and the Pistons only won one championship. I think anything outside of that has to be irrelevant.

Everyone loves Brian Scalabrine.
This is true. I never really understood the almost cult-like following of the guy, but he has 'it', whatever 'it' is.
