Amobi Okoye was the best defensive player in this draft. He has the speed to stop the run, and is a decent pass rusher. He is only 19, and he has a bright future. This is his year that he will make teams like the Falcons, Vikings, and Redskins mad that they passed him.

I think it' s gonna be LaRon Landry for the Redskins. Landry was the most polished, NFL-ready defensive player in the draft. He's got speed, he's big, and he's a really hard hitter. Putting him in the same secondary as Sean Taylor give Washington one of the best safety tandems in the league. Landry will get a handful of picks this season, plenty of huge highlight hits, and maybe even a TD or two.

The thing is that Washington has to play against quarterbacks like McNabb, Romo, and Manning with wide receivers that are hard to cover and good running backs like Westbrook, Jones, and Barber. Okoye gets to play Leftwich twice, Brady Quinn, and the horrible O-line of Oakland. Okoye also isn't the only person on that line. They have Williams which should draw the attention of some guards. That could free up gaps in the line.

That's true, but with little to nothing in the secondary behind him, Okoye will have to get to a QB awfully fast to get any sacks. He plays for a team that has no offense and will most likely be at the bottom of the league, which won't win him any ROY voters. I found it hard to believe that the Texans would pass on Brady Quinn to take another defensive lineman.

I don't think that how good a team is determines who wins Rookie of the Year. DeMeco Ryans won it last year and the Texans were terrible. Okoye just looks like he will have a major impact fast. Although he is 19, he should be able to make a an impact just on raw talent.

The difference there is that Ryans played for a bad team but was a linebacker, where you can rack up tackles regardless of the talent around you. As a defensive lineman, you have to have a secondary that can make a QB hold onto the ball long enough
