I am saying its the Saints. Better QB-Brees over Ferrotte/Bulger, Bush is better than the guy who is filling in for an injured Stephen Jackson.
The Saints have more offensive potential, and unlike the Rams, have the ability to still win their division, as 0-4 start to NFC South isnt as catastrophic as 0-5 behind Seattle's 3-2 in the NFC West.

At this point in the season, neither one of these teams have a shot at their own division or a playoff berth.
The Saints lost their main run producer in Deuce McCalister. Without him, that leaves Reggie Bush. And we know Reggie Bush hasn't shown that he can carry the load like McCalister. The Saints offense is yet to put up over 17 points. They had everything pointing their way against the Panthers, and still couldnt score enough and get the win. Brees is yet to have an efficient game. And the defense is still dismal. The Saints are bad on both sides of the ball STILL.
The Rams just came off of a loss, but in that loss they actually got something out of the offense. The offense had been stagant, and then suddenly vs Arizona it awoke for 31 points. They did that WITHOUT Bulger and Jackson. That guy behind Jackson, Brian Leonard, rushed for 102 Yds. The Rams showed they are capable of putting up some point and moving on. They will get Jackson and Bulger back from injuries eventually. The Rams have a little bit of hope.
Cassidy's House: Smoke>Fire said 10/09, 03:01 PM
The Saints STILL have Atlanta, Carolina, and Tampa in their division, all of which can be caught for the division title if they Saints can catch just half of the magic they had last year.
Duece McCallister was actually not one of the main components that drove them to the NFC Championship last year, but while his loss is significant, its not critical. The Saints are NOT an offense that needs a RB to carry the load. The Saints are as West Coast as it gets, and they live off play actioin, swing/sceen passes to their backs along with the quick slants.
The Saints are a high scoring game away from everyone thinking that maybe they are back, so lets not hit panic mode when they have only played four games.
The Rams however, are terrible. Anytime you lose 3 straight games at home to start the season to all VERY beatable teams in Carolina, SF, and Arizona, IT IS TIME TO HIT THE PANIC BUTTON. The only reason their offense "woke up for 31 points" is because they were going with Gus Ferrote and Arizona obviously watched old Bulger tapes all week.
THE RAMS PLAY IN BALTIMORE NEXT WEEK! CAN YA'LL SAY 0-6?
The Rams little bit of hope < sum of the expectations from 12 games left for Saints.

The Saints DO need a run game to score. You said they are as west coast as it gets and they live off of the play action. Well, YOU NEED A RUN GAME FOR THAT. Play action doesn't do jack squat for an offense if they aren't doing anything on the ground. Bush is averaging a WHOPPING 2.9 YPC so far this season. That doesnt open up the play action to help Drew Brees. He'll continue to toss INT's as long as his running backs aren't breaking 70 yds. Thats right, not one of the Saints RB's have broken 70 yds in any of their games.
Seriously, the hopes of a division crown for NO is DEAD. Their hopes for .500 is DEAD.
The Rams are terrible, just like the Saints. The difference is, they have the hope of returning Pro-Bowl starters: Marc Bulger and Steven Jackson. Then are still sitting with Holt, Bruce, and McMichael.
While the Rams MIGHT end up 0-6 vs the Ravens who aren't the 2006 team we knew them for, the Saints will definately be losing their 5th game in Seattle.

The Packers have no run game and they score just fine, so that argument doesnt hold water. Actually, as long as you play action to Bush, even though he only gets 15+ carries, any one of those could go to the house if you let him bounce outside.
Those mighty probowl starters that the Rams have "hope" for their return were the same guys that had them at 0-2 coming out of the gate, so Bulger+Jackson formula doesnt mean diddly if we go off what happened to them against Carolina and SF to start the season.
My points could not be made clearer. The Saints going on a five game winning streak could have them tied or leading their division. The same can not be said of the Rams in their much tougher division w/Seattle(the Rams wont win two in a row, less five).

Report Offensive CommentEven so I feel he's right, the Saints lost their best hope at winning in deuce. The Rams still have good weapons in every aspect of the game, and Reggie "too hyped" bush may have talent with makign people miss in the open field, but through the tackles he get crunched like a bowl of capn crunch.

Report Offensive Commentreggie bush better then brian leonard.... take any two starts from reggie bush this year and press them up against brian's and compare.... you dont even have to take in mind that brian is running behind a college level offensive line and the fact that the rams are always down hence anyways passing

Report Offensive CommentWithout Deuce, the Saints will have a tough time or no chance at all. but i do agree, though horrific, a 0-4 start in the NFC South is not as bad as a 0-5 start in the West. Zach, Drew Brees is having an aweful year, but he is 100 times better then Frerrotte will ever be. also, Cardftb, same goes for your comment about Bush and Leonard. apparantly for you guys, current stats determines who is good and who is bad. Jamal Lewis, Derrick Ward and Sammie Morris are outperforming LT and LJ right now...obviously im hoping you dont think these backs are better then those 2 correct?

Report Offensive Commentif we are going off past season guru then i guess Kurt Warner is still the number one quarterback in the NFL. Comparing Drew Brees to Gus Frerrotte is like conparing a horse to a rabbit. I didnt see anything comparing Bulger to Brees. Reggie Bush is yet to have an amazing year and with the number of carries and the situation brian leaonard is in with the offensive line trouble how can you conpare.... Reggie bush was good in college i havent seen much in NFL in his 2 seasons

Report Offensive CommentVery close, you both made points I like a lot and some I disagree with. I'm going with Cassidy, because I especially liked her response about Bush and setting up the play action - yes, Bush is easy to contain, but you have to devote guys to it nonetheless or he'll break it. He's an easy threat to stop, but you still have to stop it. He's like a poorly made bomb. All you have to do is clip the wire and it's defused, but you still can't ignore it or it's going to do some damage.

Report Offensive CommentBoth teams suck right now but I can see the Saints get rolling against the Panthers and Falcons. Even the Bucs don't look as strong with the #1 and #2 RB's being out for the season. The Rams might only win one game this year against SF.
