I think it has to be Tim McCarver. I listened to him on the radio the other day and just about ran my truck into a hitchhiker! Have you ever heard a man saying so much infuriatingly obvious and yet incredibly lame things? He talks soooo much and yet rarely says something coherently intellegent. Do you all have a favorite example of dumb things he says?
McCarver says things that in no way whatsoever have anything to do with the present game, or is the 50th time he has said something in the last 5 minutes!
All i want in a commentator is to commentate with discernment, and intellegent insight, but let people enjoy the game!

Joe Morgan ---- knows nothing --- say stupid things --- pumps his armpits when he speaks --- and talks as though he was some sort of analyst with actual baseball knowledge. Joe also never does his homework on a team. I listened to him doing a Sox - CHicago game and he did not know Coco Crisp's name --- and when the the fans started chanting "Yooooooooouk YoooooooooooouK Yooooooooouk" for Youkilis, Joe remarked that they were booing him for striking out his first time up ----- He is a complete joke

Joe pumps his pits? thats really funny!

McCarver has orange hair? and at his age? come on! I heard him say for the divisional game, "this is a pivitol series..." uh, mega-DUH! it's the playoffs! A series late in september is pivotol.
Don't make fun of Joe because he is african-american, he is a good commentator. So he needs hearing aid, thats different.

Amanda take your race card and shove it. It has no place here - Shame on you.
Morgan is a joke. Not because he is black, but because he is just bad.

Joe Morgan uttered the following words about Jose Reyes after slipping on the lip of the outfield and still making the throw in time to first: "Now that's what you call arm strength. His arm was strong enough to still make an accurate throw even though he slipped. Gee!

Luis Castillo almost lost a pop-up in the wind at Wrigley, Morgan blurted out something to the effect that Castillo is not familiar with the wind at Wrigley because he has played his whole career in the AL DUH

On July 15, as ESPN was televising the Phils' first-to-10,000-losses game, Morgan gave a detailed account about how, in his first game, he played a significant role - a game-ending hit - in extending the Phils' infamous 10-game, late-season losing streak, a collapse that cost them the 1964 pennant. But Morgan's first hit was in ???63, when he ended a game against a Phils' team that was not in the hunt. His historic first hit that furthered the Phils' '64 calamity never happened. The Phils didn't even play Houston during that losing streak.

I just can't beat pit-pumping, i did not know about that! So are you saying Joe lied about his hit?

Also, I do now know all local announcers and had to use a national figure. Tim just drove me crazy that day and i couldn't exactly listen to the game on mute.

But once you notice a terrible commentator it can be sickening! everything he says just seems to get more and more dumb.

Adios and goodnight. out.

Judge for yourself. Here are a few musings from Sunday Night Baseball with Joe

You know I think wins are the most important stat to judge a pitcher by. Theres a big difference between pitching just well enough to win and pitching just bad enough to lose.
Ive always believed that an ERA is like a batting average. Its a personal thing. For instance, a guy could hit .300, but not be as valuable as a guy that hits .270.
Batting average and earned run average and this OPS stuff they do are the most overrated stats in baseball.?OPS doesnt tell you anything except about the individual. The same as the other stats. It doesn???t tell you anything about the team. A .300 average doesnt help you win games, run production does
Theres a big difference between pitching just well enough to win and pitching just bad enough to lose.???

Alright...I'll drop it. I was gonna go with Tom Seaver. He was so funny. When the topic was pitching, he was a genius. When it was about anything else, he was just...so funny. He said some crazy ****.

October 10, 2007  04:06 PM ET

Wow. I totally forgot about Morgan. Haven't listened to him in a while. Vote to Larry.

October 10, 2007  04:08 PM ET

Duane Kuiper; he does the Giants games. The "its deeeeeeeeep its faaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrr its outt-a-here" is pretty bad.

October 10, 2007  04:11 PM ET

Joe Morgan annoys me for the same reason Tim McCarver annoys me--he's an ex-player who thinks he knows everything about the game but in reality, knows nothing at all.

October 10, 2007  04:12 PM ET

Michael Kay, and pretty much anyone associated with Yankees broadcasting, save for Joe Girardi, is horrible as well. John Flaherty isn't too bad, either. the rest of them suck, though. i missed the smooth pimp that is Jim Katt this year.
