Grady Sizemore is the best CF for three main reasons

1. He is very very fast stealing 33 bases, he always hustles down the line and is a great baserunner who gets good jumps (reads pitchers well)

2.He has power and the ability to hit to all parts of the field, he had 24 homeruns that he hit to all parts of the field, he can get the key hit with runners on and is very good at defense.

3. He is young and later in his carrer he can carry his team with Travis Hafner even more then he is now, as he becomes a better player he will get better at all of these categorys + he also is very positive and never gets down on his team mates

I'm taking the field on this one. There are a lot of centerfielders just as good as or better than Sizemore.

1. The under appreciated Curtis Granderson. Granderson has just about as much power (23 HRs, vs. 24 for Grady), and slugged a sizzing .552 this past year, 90 points higher than Grady.

Also, Granderson had 26 steals and got caught ONLY ONCE.

Sizemore had 33 steals, but was caught 10 times.

2. Ichiro Suzuki- Ichiro led all CFs in batting average and OBP. In just 7 seasons, he's already more than halfway to 3000 hits. Wow. Don't forget, he's been a gold glove OF each year in the majors.

3. Carlos Beltran

Beltran is a threat on the basepaths, and a great power hitter as well. 2 years ago, he hit over 40 homers, and he's had at least 15 steals for 7 of the past 8 years. He won a gold glove last year as well.

The list goes on...Aaron Rowand...Torii Hunter...BJ Upton...

My point isn't that all of these centerfielders are better. It's that Grady Sizemore isn't better than all of them.

please no Beltran, leave it at Ichiro

i feel bad for Sizemore and Granderson as both of them are being horribly misused. neither one should be batting leadoff.

I'll take Ee chee row.

Vote to Jesus.

Maglio

October 10, 2007  11:16 PM ET

1. Granderson does not walk enough and strikes out way too much to be a leadoff guy. his career OBP is .343 and i don't expect him to stay at a .361 or better clip for the rest of his career. even if he does that, it's still not high enough for a leadoff guy.

2. if his high slg. this year is any indication or what he can do, he should be behind people with runners on base. he can be much more effective that way.

October 10, 2007  11:16 PM ET

Magglio plays RF. I'd take Granderson. He's a better all around hitter than any other CF.

October 10, 2007  11:18 PM ET

He's right. Granderson should be batting in the 2 or 3 spot, BUT you have Polanco 2nd, which is perfect for him, and the Tigers have no one that can hit leadoff.

October 10, 2007  11:19 PM ET

I didnt even read where it said CF. I thought it was just OF.

October 10, 2007  11:26 PM ET

The Tigers lineup is a little bit clogged, can't really blame them for shoving Curtis to the top of the order (even though he doesn't fit). Polanco gets on base but lacks the speed, and the 3 and 4 spots in the lineup are taken up by Sheff and Ordonez. Guillen's at the 5 spot, and should remain there.

October 10, 2007  11:41 PM ET

top 3 defensive CF
1. tori hunter
2. jim edmonds
3. grady sizemore

October 10, 2007  11:47 PM ET

Ichiro without a question.

October 10, 2007  11:48 PM ET

I agree with Hunter, but Edmonds simply isn't that durable anymore, and injuries have really slowed him down. He's still good defensively, but not top 3.

Sizemore is a great fielder, but I'd much rather have Ichiro, who has an absolute cannon for an arm. Andruw Jones deserves consideration as well.

October 10, 2007  11:49 PM ET

....not Juan Pierre

October 10, 2007  11:57 PM ET

Well, Ive always been a HUGE Edmonds fan. Favorite player, and I really like Rajai Davis. Edmonds should come off for Ichiro, but top 3 all time I would put him in. Im a big time Indians homer, but Sizemore makes pheonominal plays and what you said with Edmonds could be said about Jones, since he had his career low in outfield assists.

October 11, 2007  01:20 AM ET

I must agree. Granderson.

October 11, 2007  03:34 AM ET

Sizemore couldn't carry Ichiros jock.
