Chris Carter, great receiver, dumb comment..

"Eli is the best Manning"..

I beg to differ..

Look at the defensive line the Giants have had, they deserve some BIG DUE, all i'm saying.. You have the "prince", Pierre Paul, and Justin " i don't give a ****" Tuck..

Look at the last SB team, Mr. Strahan, prince, and Tuck..

I mean, lets be real. Did Eli play a great superbowl game? YES The guy won a black on black corvette for his perfomance.. Has Eli won two titles? SURE...

Is Eli Hall of Fame bound? YUS SUR

but is Eli better than Peyton???

NO

Bring the heat, because daddy's got a fire extinguisher..

I think it's a lot closer than you make it out to be.

Peyton Manning has started in 208 games and has
141 wins
64.9% completion
399 touchdowns
54,828 yds

Eli Manning has played in 119 games and has
69 wins
58.4 % completion
185 touchdowns
27,579yds

Peyton Manning has 10 playoff wins and 1 Super Bowl ring

Eli Manning has 8 playoff wins and 2 Super Bowl rings

In just about half the seasons, Eli Manning has close to half the numbers as Peyton in just about every major category

On top of that he has 2 less playoff wins having played less than in 90 less NFL games
He has one more Super Bowl ring than Peyton Manning and is still in his prime.

Peyton Manning's career is basically over and even if he plays another year or two, it most likely won't be a contender

It reminds me of the question: Is Joe Montana better than Dan Marino?
Most people will say yes because he won when it counted

Peyton has been popular throughout his career but when it's all said and done, Eli Manning will be considered his equal and by many as the better of the Manning quarterbacks

bahahahahahahahhahahahaha

What's close about that?

look at the damn numbers..

here's the deal, the ONLY thing Eli has over Peyton, is ONE more superbowl ring. Which is significant, but look at Peyton, if he's healthy and playing, he's a top 3 quarterback... Eli, healthy, might not even crack top 5..

Yes, Eli threw a GREAT pass to Manningham, but his defensive line needs some mother **** credit here.

Substitute Pierre Paul for Strahan, here we go AGAIN..

check this analogy..

Trent Dilfer has one ring, Dan Marino has zero rings. Does that one extra ring make Dilfer better?

answer.. HELL NO

Has Eli ever had a running back as good as Edgerrin James or a wide receiver as good as Marvin Harrison let alone Reggie Wayne?
No

It's pointless getting into who each player had on their team

Eli Manning just went thru the previous Super Bowl team in the playoffs and beat a very good NE team to win it

So he deserves the respect to be in the argument

Let's say we put Eli at 208 games and predict his numbers as
60% completion
350 touchdowns
49,000 yds

In those extra seasons, he'd easily eclipse Peyton in playoff wins and it's possible he'll go to a Super Bowl and maybe win.

Are you trying to compare Trent Dilfer to Eli Manning?
I don't think its even close

What I'm saying is that when it's all said and done
Eli's passing numbers may not be as great but they won't pale in comparison

However, he'll have more playoff wins and more Super Bowl rings than Peyton.
Thus when the hoopla dies down and people look back at their careers, it will be said that Eli Manning was the more successful brother

Has Eli ever had a running back as good as Edgerrin James or a wide receiver as good as Marvin Harrison let alone Reggie Wayne?
No

Has Peyton every had a defensive line like NY? answer: no..

Now I know Freeney and Mathis are beasts, but the Giants, they've had at least 3 studs coming off the end, in both title runs..

Like i keep saying, like a broken record, the ONLY thing Eli has over Peyton, is ONE more superbow ring, that's it..

what you could've brought up, is that Eli's beat Peyton's nemesis, Brady, on the biggest stage, but you didn't.

battah battah swing

Nobody in their right mind would put Dilfer against Eli, i said "analogy", I love how people twist your words on these td's here..

Manning holds NFL records for consecutive seasons with 4,000 or more yards passing (6) and the most total seasons with 4,000 or more yards passing in a career. Peyton also has 4 league MVP awards!

Eli Manning went into 1st first Super Bowl with a 10-6 record and beat 3 straight teams and then won the Super Bowl against a team that was 16-0

He won his second Super Bowl with a team that was 9-7, beat 3 straight teams including the best team in the NFL and then went on to beat the top seed out of the AFC

When Peyton Manning had similar opportunities, his team lost

Eli Manning did not have a great defense on either of those teams. They had a good defense and they played well.

As an offensive QB, Eli isn't a slouch
He passed for 5,000 yds w/ a pair of unproven young wideouts

I mentioned the numbers because it shows that Eli's numbers aren't that far behind Peyton's

He's set to put up very good career numbers and he'll have more playoff wins

More importantly, he'll have more Super Bowl wins and on top of that he was the game's MVP in both wins

So no, you can't compare him to other QB's who just managed the game. They won they SB because Eli played great

A QB's ultimate validation is in rings

Peyton will be remembered for what he should have done (multiple rings), whereas Eli will be remembered for what he did do:
Win multiple rings

Eli is better in the post season and seems to take the pressure of the post season better.

Where Peyton starts to hang his head and gets frustrated when things aren't going his way [look at the playoff loss to the Steelers] Eli shakes it off and plays the next play like the last one never happened. Something to say for that.

Peyton can march down the field at ease, Eli can't..

Peyton's more intellectual than Eli, Peyton could be an nfl offensive coordinator right now, while Eli, he could juggle peanuts, or better yet, ride off into the sunset in his new black on black corvette..hahaha

Eli can't march down the field?

Did you turn off every Giants game at the end of the 3rd quarter?

No doubt at this point big brother is the better QB , but they are both going to be in the Hall of Fame when all is said and done. Eli's football IQ is quite high, he's just not as intense and loud as his brother so he uses it more subtly.

I'm saying "marching down the field" in general, of course not the sb last night. Hats off to Eli, but i'm not praising him as the son of God. haha

take that defense off Eli, bet he would be under .500

I wouldn't go that far, but it would be interesting as hell to see him on a team with a bad defense.

You are making a ton of assumption here. 1st we have no idea what Peyton would be like as a coach or that Eli wouldn't be any better. I could argue that Eli would make the much better coach because he hasn't had the easy route. Being a coach is being able to relate to players that weren't always the best and making them better. A lot of great players make poor coaches because they can't relate to average players struggles.

Just because Manning is making all sorts of hand motions pre-snap doesn't make him any smarter than any other QB. That notion is just stupid. All QBs that have been in a system long enough have full control over their offense. This nut hugging on Manning for over doing it is just plain stupid.

Eli marches down the field when it matters most. That is what separates players. When Manning needed a drive in the SB vs the Saints he threw a pick. Eli has done it twice in the Super Bowl.

It is far closer than you think.

Take away Peyton's weapons and he isn't as good either. Both benefit from their team, its football not baseball.

Didn't Eli throw for almost 5000 yds this year? I think the can drive the field just fine.

Oh, Eli is 8-3 in the postseason, while Peyton is 9-10.

Also has Peyton ever won a post season game where he wasn't the favorite? This notion that Eli has had better teams only stems from the fact that Eli has won and Peyton hasn't. Eli has been the underdog in most of his big games. He elevated his team and didn't get overwhelmed by the situation. Peyton has only won when he has had the superior team. Eli has won several times when his team was the underdog. Not so sure you can tell me Peyton wins with less.
