Don't get me wrong; Eli played very, very well this season. The argument could be made that over the last half of the season, Eli played as well as any QB in the League. And there is no question that Eli was the NFL's absolute best in terms of fourth quarter play.
But he is not a Hall of Famer at this point, not by any stretch of the imagination.
He is just too inconsistent and he has had only one truly great season (2011) over the course of his career.
As sports fans we tend to be victims of the moment. Case in point, the Giants won the Super Bowl over the Patriots, so now Eli is allegedly better than Brady and allegedly the younger Manning is already a Hall of Famer. Bologna.
Just last year Eli led the NFL with 25 interceptions.
Only twice has he had a QB rating of over 86.5. (I know the argument against QB rating, but whatever. It makes a point in this context)
Sure, he has two Super Bowl rings on his fingers. But winning championships is more of a team accomplishment than anything else, and they don't enshrine players based strictly off team achievements.
Eli's a great QB. He might even make the Hall some day.
But he's not worthy yet.

if JOE NAMATH can get in.... why not ELI right now?!?
joe -13yrs---27663yds 173tds 220ints 65.5 RATING (3 yrs over 25 INTS)
eli -8yrs ---27,579yds 185tds 129ints. 82.1 RATING
compare him to
JIM KELLY 11yrs ---35467yds 237tds 175ints 84.4 RATING (zero SB wins) **25 and 33int seasons**
TROY AIKMAN---12yrs 32,942yds 165tds 141ints 81.6 RATING
BOB GRIESE---13yrs 25092yds 192tds 172ints 77.1 RATING
so u gonna go by QB rating? overall stats? just cause u hate him and the giants?
if u say ratings big part of it he has a better over all rating then JOHN ELWAY whos at 79.9
is he in ELWAYS,young, montana, moon and others league NOOO!... but as a current NFL player playing after 2000... YES!.... so for this ERA he goes in as of now.. unless he does a total melt down next 5yrs!
since 2000 who is HOF worthy? rivers, peyton, brees, brady, ben, farve, kurt
anyone says rogers KISS MY BLEEP! hes only done it 4yrs so far yes hes been really good but only 4yrs as a starter! thats like jet fans who said sanchez next broadway joe before he played a full yr!

First of all, Namath-Manning is an absurd comparison considering the two QBs played in completely different eras.
Comparing Manning to Jim Kelly or Troy Aikman is a little better, although not perfect considering even those two greats also played in a different era.
In case you haven't noticed, the NFL has changed over the past few years. Instead of being a run-heavy League the NFL now is all pass-happy and MANY QBs are going to put up some stats that compare favorably to the stats of yesteryear's QBs.
Stats are not the only prerequisite here, QB rating included.
(And for the record, I like Eli. I hate the Giants, but I like Eli. But either way it has nothing to do with whether or not he should be in the HoF, right now)
Here's the dealio: Eli has one great season under his belt. One great season and seven mediocre-to-decent seasons.
So no, his numbers aren't good enough to autopmatically put him in the Hall.
Let me ask you this: at what point has Eli even been considered the best at his position?
Are you able to look back on his career as a whole and come to the conclusion that he was consistently great, or even consistently good?

ok let me make this short and quick F the nfl ratings.. i dont talk to friends yooo he had a 95rating last yr! i said he threw for how many yds TDs and ints!
ratings dont do **** for me look any fantasy football fans voting does rating help u get points?? NO so enough with rating ****
look who eli has as weapons over the yrs!! last yr steve smith and a make up squad of WRS and yet still threw for 4000yds... eli does more with less! nyg are a run 1st team always have always will but this yr was different... so he still has better stats in yds and tds then rivers and ben! who came out same time he did!
why is it BEN is ok for HOF when he won SB but eli aint? eli stats are better! INTs ok 25 so he had a bad yr with INTS.. like i said make up group of WRS... nicks was hurt, hixon was hurt, cruz was hurt!!

I'm not sure if you're aware or not, but QB rating actually is basically a summary of stats.
Anyhoo, I don't even know how to argue this now. I can't tell if you're ****-ing with me or trying to post a serious argument, but you basically just compared Eli to Ben Roethlisberger.
I don't get it. Ben's not in the Hall of Fame either, so what was the point of that?
Wish I had more to say here but you really didn't give me much to work with.
In summary, Eli shouldn't deserve the Hall of Fame at this point in his career and that is all.
HEYuILLGETu said 02/10, 12:09 AM
since YOU already said about players i mentioned earlier "played in a different era"
so who compare him too brady, peyton and brees?!?
not counting INTs....was eli weakness we all know this BUT
eli with his for 1st 8yrs ahead of in some stats
eli -185tds 27579yds- 2SBs
brady -197tds 26446- 3SBs
peyton -244tds 33189yds- 1SB
brees -168tds 26258yds- 1SB
2 SB wins vs the great brady
2 SB MVPS
beat rogers and farve in playoff games in lambeau
has never missed a game!
ROAD PLAYOFF WINS!
so why is it brady is IN AFTER his SB wins, ben hof talk after his SB wins, peyton is just a BEAST!..but eli NO...
eli does what he does with less weapons!! SO **** the QB ratings.. statistics do not reflect leadership, play-calling, and other intangible factors that go into making a successful professional quarterback!! so F ratings!
look at the WRs they have had peyton, brees and brady has had compared to eli...
peyton--wayne & harrison
brady--welker ,moss, branch
eli--plax and nobody else till this yr that needed to be doubled team or feared!!
and the last thing i gotta say who cares if ELI looks like gomer pyle LOL
