A chav called Book of Tebow took my other throw down and ruined it, just mocking rugby and soccer, and this is a redo. Thank you to HighwayCrossingFrog for doing this.
My arguments will be that the rugby world cup is better.
For soccer, the top teams often play negative soccer. This means is they play not to lose instead of playing to win.
So much is at stake, they play SAFE instead of EXCITING.
The last 2 winners, Spain and Italy werent exactly scoring goals in bunches.
Everyone knows champions league soccer is where its at.
Rugby world cup is sport played at the peak level.
There are 6 power houses.
New Zealand, Ireland, England, Australia, South Africa, France
There are also 4 teams that can hold their own and spark upsets.
Argentina, Wales, Scotland, Samoa
There are also up and coming teams to make a great field.
Italy, America, Tonga, Canada, Fiji
In the world cup of soccer, too many teams collapse into defensive traps and just play for a draw so they can aim for a cheap shoot out victory.
That type of weak play never happens in rugby. You get mouthwatering matches almost every single time!
I have more reasons after.
Rugby all the way!!

While Im a huge fan of rugby..
Rugby only applies to a small select following around the world..
SOCCER WORLD CUP.. The trophy is the holy grail..
There is something special about that trophy..
And when you win it.. Its one of the few sports where you feel like a true world champion..
Maybe tennis is something similar, cause those 2 sports, maybe the only real international sports..
In a sense, there were only 7 decent teams this yeaR..
AUSSIES, SOUTH AFRICANS, NZ, England, Wales, Ireland and france..
All the other teams were essentially bums, making up the numbers..

Thank you again for doing this throw down.
Your right about soccer being more widely popular overall.
Rugby has alot of variations if combined make a wide number of countries also such as rugby sevens, rugby union a.k.a rugger and aussie rules football.
My main attraction to rugby is the full contact sport. It some ways its like the National Football League in america.........but without all the equipment. XD!
i think we humans like the violence and its a release. its why we like action movies and car chases.
Rugby players are beasts!
you can always tell a rugby player from there nose not being in the middle of there face anymore....or from the ears all mangled up!
i do admire them
The rugby world cup doesnt have as much history as soccer but each event is growing in popularity.
Theres alot of strategy in rugby about when to conserve energy and when to sprint. that aspect happens in soccer to but its a lower extent. you dont have to scrum in soccer and deplete your muscles!!!
in rugby world cup, the coaches play to win not to draw.
there is so much pride in rugby players. soccer players fake injuries alot.

Negative tactics do occur in rugby too..
England vs south africa 2007, WC finals.. It felt like both teams were kicking it 90% of their possession.. It was kind of sad really..
This years final of france vs NZ, also failed to live up to all the hype..
The best and most eXciting game was probably france vs tonga..
ENGLAND WAS REALLY DISAPPOINTING..
And the whole tournament got messed up, after ireland beat aussies.. It put all the good teams on one side of the draw..
While rugby WC aint bad..
There has never been a rugby WC, where one man managed to completely take over the event, like maradonna did back in 1986 for soccer..
That was truly romantic, one person taking on 11 guys all by himself..
It may have been one of the most impressive feats in any sport of all time..
Everyone is still dreaming of one person to do it..
A Ronaldo or a messi.. we will see..

You sound like a fellow fan. of course I agree about England being a major disappointment.
well, ur right about no one standout in rugby historically. its the nature of the game with so many styles and positions and roles.
my final argument about rubgy........
The shape of the ball makes it wobbly in the scrum or on a long pass, so we get more unpredictable plays and that equal excitement.
Rugby players are gladiators!! The would bleed to death before leaving the pitch!! if you dived, i think ur own team would be disown you! XD
There is a band of brothers mentality. If a lock forward from one team picks a fight with the scrummie on the other team, the scrummie???s forwards pile in like they are protecting their first born child!
On the world cup level, i like the level of scoring better. there is alot of 30 point matches just like in club play. as opposed to soccer when world cup scoring drops soooo much from champions league or other club level play.
Last but not least, i love the HAKA! Dont call me a traitor! I just think its one of those indesctibable sports moments that makes international play so eventful.
thank you for the throw down..

Another problem with rugby..
All the tight matches come down to penalty kicks..
In the last 2 world cup finals..
There have been a total of 3 tries!!! 4 teams scoring 3 tries!!!
So rugby players played scared too.. Its not just soccer players..
Lets not forget that the rugby World cup coverage is awful..
I think I shelled out over $300!! Cause it was something like $25 a game..
I know, I am a sports junkie.. I was even waking up at 3.30am to watch samoa vs south africa, crazy..
At least with the soccer WC and the Euro WC, we get free coverage on espn..
cant beat free entertainment, I am afraid..
Good to see a fellow international sports lover out there:)
