THE MUNICH MASSACRE, no explanation needed, and this is not debateable.

Now the rest, in no particular order.

Dale Earnhardt Sr. dying in a wreck at Daytona on the last lap in 2001.

The Marshall Plane Crash

Todd Bertuzzi attacking Steve Moore on the ice and breaking his neck.

Mike Tyson biting Holyfield's ear off

The Black Sox Scandal

The Mitchell Report being released

Pacers/Pistons Brawl

Pete Rose (agree)

Lou Gehrig benching himself, ending his streak, then being diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (now known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Those are my choices.

Lou gehrig?
i guess it depends on how you look at things..
we are all going to die..
technically we all lead a tragic life..
that one moment at yankee stadium, was one of the most beautiful moments,
not just in sports but in life..
i still get goose bumps watching that old black and white footage..
"today I consider myself.. One of the luckiest men in the world"..
the whole time yankee fans cheered like no other..
but I could see how some people would take a half empty approach..

I personaly think my closer story is worse than your dale..
Dale died doing somethin he loved..
my closer suffered years of nightmares and depression..
Not to mention, suicide can destroy a family..
cause, the people left over, of they go through a rough patch,
start to think maybe suicide aint a bad option..

Pacers brawl was bad..
but was it artest fault?
some idiot threw a beer bottle at him..
i think alot of people would react in a similar manner..

"my closer suffered years of nightmares and depression.."

Ok, so the depression was to blame. Not the blown save. Closers blow saves every year. It's nothing new. His depression was the underlying issue. Not blowing a save.

With proper psychological treatment, it could have been avoided.

Earnhardt, one of the most beloved racers in NASCAR at the time, died DURING a race. The world was shocked and heartbroken. I still remember watching that race when it happened. It was awful.

Yes, the brawl was Artest's fault. Sure, the fan shouldn't have thrown beer at him, but he has to react in a calm manner like an adult, not attack the fan in the stands. Athletes have beverages thrown at them all the time. Artest took it way too far, and it was an awful moment for the franchise.

With the exception of the Pete Rose scandal, you literally left EVERY single major bad moment in sports off of your list. How do you miss the Munich Massacre? The Black Sox Scandal? The Marshall Plane Crash?

Tyson biting a man's ear off is worse than saying he would eat his children. Disturbing smack talk is not the same as biting a man's ear off.

Im down by sooo much..
its going to haunt me more than the closer..
i will give ya this..
im doing alot of TDs tommorrow..
we will meet again..
i promise..

I don't think 2 and 3 classify as moments, those are more like a period of years.
