I say thee NAY!
Bendo needs to get some new blood into the title picture, Let Frankie fight at LEAST Once before getting another title shot
Since April 2010 until last weekend-
There have been THREE guys who have fought for the title
Penn
Maynard
Edgar
In the most competitive division in MMA.
Jon Jones was JUST coming off his FIRST Headline fight on VERSUS vs Brandon VERA
Anderson Silva has beat FOUR different guys for the 185 title in a MUCH shallower division
Give someone else a shot, Dana- Pettis, Guida, Diaz, Pat Miletich - Anyone!

I say yes.
So, here's my thing. The President of the UFC, Dana White, has stated that Edgar deserves a rematch. I'm not saying this reasoning is the be all, end all of the discussion at hand, but its a factor.
Other factors to consider. Precedent. Penn lost the 1st fight to Edgar, and got an immediate rematch. Maynard had a draw against Edgar, and got an immediate rematch. Both of those fights were close fights, and many felt a rematch would help end the debate. In fact both ended the debate as Edgar dominated each guy in the rematch fight.
I thought Edgar won the fight vs Henderson. Many other fans, Dana White, Sherdog, Bloody Elbow, and many fighters thought Edgar won.
Because of the controversial nature of the fight, I think there should be a rematch and end the debate.
The other question I have is, who do you feel is a better fight for Henderson. Pettis? Thats a rematch. Guida? Coming off a loss. Diaz? Has a fight with Miller first.
IMO, I believe the winner of the Miller-Diaz fight should fight Pettis for the #1 contender match while Henderson and Edgar square off 1 more time.
This scenario makes the most sense for the UFC at this point.

I also scored the fight for Frankie, but there are a ton of guys at 155 that should get the opportunity to carry the title.
Frankie got his shot because he strung a bunch of wins together and Penn was a dominant champion who needed an opponent.
In those TWO WHOLE YEARS, the WEC guys have come in, and the best division in MMA has gotten even better.
And Deeper.
But another problem another rematch brings us is-
What if the same great fight happens- but the judges get it right?
We get YET ANOTHER REMATCH, meaning it will be THREE years before someone else gets a shot. Heck, Maynard might have beat Pettis and Diaz popped by pot by then and looking for ANOTHER Frankie/Maynard 25 minute fight.
Did having to EARN another title shot temper the love for Silve/Sonnen II?
JimJ77 Best in the World! said 03/03, 11:49 AM
My point is there aren't a ton of guys that deserve a shot. In fact there are only 4 guys that do. Miller, Diaz, Pettis, and Edgar.
The problem? Diaz and Miller are tied up fighting one another, and Pettis is coming off two wins, but two wins over guys not even ranked in the top 10.
My solution is to have the winner of Miller-Diaz fight Pettis for the #1 contender match while Edgar fights Henderson again.
Logistically this makes sense for the LW division. It seems you'd rather have anyone else fight for the title, whether its deserving or not because you feel the belt has been tied up for many years? This confuses me because in the last 23 months we have had 3 different LW champs now. So in fact the belt has not been tied up but changing hands.
I'm not going to get into the what if game. I can't concern myself with what if Edgar-Henderson rematch is another close fight. Hell, what if Henderson fights Pettis and thats another close fight like their first fight? Will you be crying about a rematch at that point?
I'd really like to know what your solution is instead of just complaining about a rematch. Because it makes the most sense at this current point.
Bloggers Needed said 03/04, 10:56 AM
My Solution?
Give Frankie to Melvin or Siver or SOMEONE, and let Bendo fight the winner and of Miller/Diaz
Since when did Dana have to do anything logically or make sense? Like I said, even Edgar getting the title shot wasn't logic.
You have missed something, Edgar has a broken nose.
So how long is he going to be on the shelf? Think a 100% Bendo can't go in a few months?
I just want to see some fresh blood at the title level, and piling rematch after rematch is getting old.
Why cant Edgar get a new opponent? He's done nothing but train for the same guys for a couple of years? Then what happens if he loses to Bendo?
Unless its close, in such case we get ANOTHER rematch, then Edgar is stuck in Florianville, and pretty much will HAVE to move to 145 to get ANY type of title shot- Edgar doesn't want to do that- and what happens if he loses to Aldo? Then he is stuck and isn't going to sniff gold for a LONG time.
And he's not a good enough talker to co-host MMA Tonight.
Frankie can go back to the drawing board, work on some muscle, beat a 4-8 top10 guy then get his title shot PREPARED

The Miller-Diaz fight is not until May. Assuming both fighters come out of the fight healthy, we're looking at the earliest, an August fight for the winner and Henderson. Why hold the belt hostage for 7-9 months when there's no need to? That's tiresome.
Edgar broke his nose, but those typically heal up in a couple of weeks. No big deal. Get Edgar and Henderson to rematch in June or even July. Currently there is no main event for UFC 149. Make Edgar-Henderson II and problem solved.
Another issue I have is Jim Miller is a 2.5 to 1 favorite over Diaz, so there is a sold chance we could have Miller fight Henderson using your proposal. Again, that's another rematch fight, and in the 1st fight, Henderson absolutely mauled Miller.
Hey, if you like to see one sided beatdown then that's fine with me, I would rather see another high paced, competitive fight. And Edgar-Henderson was just that. HIGHLY competitive.
If Edgar loses the rematch at least we'll know if the move down to 145 is necessary. At this point, its just a guessing game as to if he should or not. Lets find out for sure. Make the Edgar-Henderson fight, and all questions will be answered at that point.
Good TD.

If I have to watch another rematch for the belt, I'd rather watch Pettis-Henderson II instead of another Edgar fight. I like Frankie, but I think he'd be much more exciting and at home fighting Aldo than Henderson who walks around as a welterweight on fight day.

Voted right. I won't read the SPAM let alone vote for it.

Frankie has basically earned a rematch (and it's odd to deny him one after he granted one to BJ).
But my preference is that he fight Aldo since Aldo has so few legitimate challengers right now. Hioki looked good, but Hioki admitted after his fight that he's still a fight or two away from a title shot.

They were great fights, but bottom line is frankie is outsized most of the time.. Imagine what he could do with his scrapper mentality in a division where he's not regularly outweighed by 15 lbs come fight time.
