1. Who will get the 2nd wild card spot in AL?
red sox OR rangers?
having 2 wild cards in the AL, wont hurt this year,
mainly cause of the emergence of new powerhouse angels and feast pitchin galore rays..
3 exciting new all stars.. Can the marlins have a winning team?
plus will the new stadium in excellent location, bring bigger crowds?
the marlins had 40,000 at a firsta yesterday.. Promising..
3. Bobby valentine.. I dont think he can right our ship..
but maybe I am wrong..
4. Jaimie moyer.. At 49, wow..
can he still get the job done?
ii say yes.. He is a crafty lefty, that throws slow junk..
5. Will braun get booed everywhere he goes?
6. Opening day.. Always magical..
7. Can fielder make the lions a powerhouse?
8. Will the cardinals sink?
can they get over ast seasons collapse?
i say yes!
10. Ortiz and manny?
who will have the better season?

Here's my top ten:
10. Seeing Luke Scott hit below the Mendoza line after running his mouth about Red Sox Nation.
9. Seeing Florida finally fill their seats again.
8. Bryce Harper playing in the bigs.
7. Seeing Yu Darvish tank.
6. Seeing Varitek and Wakefield get proper sendoffs.
5. Seeing Ryan "The Cheat" Braun get booed everywhere.
4. Having another steroid cheat get caught.
3. The return of the Red Sox to relevance.
2. The real opening day, not that silly opening day in Japan.
1. The new powerful AL West.
Now I will use this remaining space to debate the addition of the new wild card.
This will complicate things greatly. First, there will be less deadline deals as more teams will feel they are in contention. A 1 game playoff is not playoffs to me. 3 games would be a better choice. I see what MLB is trying to do. They are trying to recreate the magical last night like last year. If there is a tie for the second wild card spot, there will be a playoff to get in the playoffs. What if there is a 3 way tie? There will most certainly be November baseball.

I like your list..
so we will just debate the wild card EXTRA..
you have to love it..
there is clearly enough depth to add 2 more extra spots..
plus it puts the wild cards at a disadvantage..
the way it should be..
it also puts the al east in a better position,
and gives teams like blue jays and orioles a chance to shine..
with the 2 powerhouses sox and yanks in their division..
therr is finally hope for minnows..

There is a very slim chance for the Orioles or Blue Jays to snag a wild card spot. The Yankees are perennial favorites to win the division. I see the Red Sox and Rays fighting for a WC spot. I wouldn't think that 3 teams from the AL East would snag spots since they have to play each other so often during the regular season. The AL West has gotten much stronger as of late, (Texas and LA Angels).
As I've said in the comment section, there isn't really an easy way to have a better playoff structure. Personally, I'd like to see more teams make the playoffs than 5 per league but that will never happen due to weather requirements. The season is a long marathon followed by a sprint. In baseball, it takes 11 wins to be world champs. In hockey it takes 16.

Ok.. I guess we are on the same page, ha ha..
I do dear it will reduce september drama..
sox would have costed to playoffs last year..
but im willing to take that risk,
cause it gives more fans hope,
and teams that get 90 wins deserve a shot..
Gary The Sox Fan said 03/07, 09:03 AM
It could reduce September drama, or it could complicate the drama more. Say you have one clear wildcard winner, and there are 3 other teams tied for the last spot. They'd need 2 tiebreaker games to get into the wildcard playoff. The pink-hatters would love this. The lifelong fans see it as being watered down drama. MLB will never be able to manufacture the last day of the 2011 season. The Sox in the lead until Papelblown comes in to hand over the game, Tampa Bay with their big comeback the last month of the season and the last game of the year.
