Not exactly sure what 'delicate' means so I'm going to assume you mean some version of non athletic or non contact position.
If RBs is referring to running backs, you're insane. This position gets hit more than any other skill position in football.
What in the hell is a 'serve and volleyer'? You talking Tennis? Volleyball? Bartenders? Eh, they're all more athletic than these:
1. Place Kicker
2. Punter
3. Designated hitter
4. Bowler
5. Ping pong player
6. Badminton player
7. Pool player
8. Fisherman
9. Hunter
10. Golfer
I'm not turning this into a what is or is not a sport debate. Everything on my list is considered a sport by a large contingent of people and fits the basic definition of sport by being an athletic competition.

Ill tell ya what scotty..
When I said delicate..
i meant someone,
who one year can be phenomenal..
and the next year suck..
to me, those people are in "delicate" positions..
i apologise, ican see why the title is vague..
i got 8 free beers at the bar,
cause I went to the manager and said
" I was publicly humiliated,
when the bar tender told 10 people I was a bad tipper"
my girlfriend also got 8 free beers..
i hope I get publicly humiliated again!!!!! Ha ha..
Relievers are delicate..
cause they burn out quicker than nobody..
RBs
how many times have we seen a guy rush for 2000 yards..
and the next year barely breaks a 1000?
Batters
they can get .600 in april,
then look like an NL pitcher for 3 months..
big papi was horrendous 2 yrs ago..
but
last year he just.. TOOK THE PITCHERS..
Pitchers..
never build your team around starters..
see red sox..
sooo many big names and its a total train wreck..
beckett destroys my sanity..
Golfers..
"its all psycological"
woods shows us the lord giveth and taketh away..

That is the craziest use of the word 'delicate' I've ever seen. :) And it describes every position in sport.
In the entire history of the NFL there have been six 2000 yard rushers. The following season:
OJ - 1125 (remember this was a 14 game season)
Dickerson - 1234 (only played 14 games)
Sanders - 1491
Davis - 211 (only played 4 games)
Lewis - 1006 (only played 12 games)
Johnson - 1047
So, to answer your question, the only player who meets your criteria for reasons other than injury is Chris Johnson. Hardly a regular occurrence.
Some hitters are streaky, so what? You said you meant "who one year can be phenomenal..and the next year suck" but you are arguing month to month? How many times are you going to move the goal posts in one TD?
Philly might disagree with you on the starters theory.
Under the revised (but not the re-revised) definition of "delicate", Golfers don't belong on the list. The best Golfers tend to remain the best for many years. Woods actually supports MY position on that. He didn't just start sucking one day, it was a combination of factors, but mostly age and injuries. Every athlete loses it with age.
HighwayCrossingFrog said 04/14, 02:46 PM
Damn..
that was the best 2nd argument I have seen in a long time..
But unfortunatly....................
Strikers
Rooney, torres, owen, berba flop etc etc
these guys can get colder, faster than champagne on ice..
there is no logical explanation for this..
Serve and volleyers, tennis baby..
they dont get good till 25,
and like RBs, the kiss of death for any tennis players is 30..
agassi and connors being lone exceptions, baseliners..
Point guards
Age badly..
once they lose a step and a half..
they lost their mojo..
big men do well old
lebron, jordan and kobe, can/will be a force to be reckoned with in late 30s..
not point guards..
Soccer coaches
Seems like the average shelf life is 3 years these days..
owners are the ultimate:
"win trophies or else.."
its not fair!
Womens tennis
Major sport where early 20s dominates..
venus is a great example.. Deep down she knows she is finished..
and she is only 31..
the last girl to do well in her 30s was graf..
only cause monica got stabbed..
seles would have dropped graf like a stone..

If you are talking about a soccer Forward, David Villa has been successful for quite a while. Luis Fabiano. Not sure what you mean by 'cold'.
Federer will be 31 in 5 months and is ranked #3 in the world. Someone needs to tell him he's done...I don't think he got the memo.
Steve Nash is 38 and just made his 8th All Star game, his 6th after turning 30. On top of that, BOTH of his MVP's came post 30.
Soccer coaches? Damn you for making me research this!
Shakhtar Donetsk coach has been Mircea Lucescu since 2004
There are a lot more, but I'm not going to list a bunch of names and cites most people on FN can't pronounce or find on a map. 'Soccer' encompasses a whole lot of teams worldwide.
If what you are getting at is that most athletes in most sports start declining in their 30's, well, we aren't breaking any news with this TD. If you are making the statement that ALL athletes in sports/positions (the ones you listed) decline at 30, and it appears you are to some extent, that is demonstrably inaccurate.
But frankly, I'm about to hit submit on the final argument of this TD and I'm still unclear on what we are even debating.

I hope that RB stands for right back in soccer and not runningbacks.

Unsure to drop this or not. Would be fun. But unsure if my debate will post. Was going to add Swimming, cycling and I think skiing.

True, but was trying to decipher ther term |delicate| in the heading. Injuries occur in these sports more than what are known.

Let's see...you have pitchers, batters and relievers (which are also pitchers, at least last time I checked). Why not just say "baseball players"? Was there a particularly durable occasional pinch-runner you wanted to exclude from the discussion?
