2. derek fischers shot vs spurs..

3. willie mays catch

4. gonzalez game winning hit vs great rivera..
5. aaron freakin boone

You're arguing that all the skill, practice, time, effort, etc... that athletes put into their training/craft is just luck?
Obviously any/every sport has some element of luck to it... but it's mostly skill. I'll go a different route here.
1. The Hand of God
Truly lucky that goal didn't get called for what it was.
2. Randy Johnson vs a bird
Bad luck for the exploding bird. Good luck for internet and TV highlights until the end of time.
3. Aaron Rodgers falling to GB at #24. Michael Jordan "falling" to Chicago. etc...
4. Shaq hitting two 3 pointers in 1 game. Let's face it, dude can't shoot to save his life.
5. Bouncing hail mary in football.
This one is generic, because it happens every once in a while for various teams. I'm talking the play where the defender gets a hand on it, it bats around in the air and an offensive player manages to find it eventually for the TD.
6.
7. Hitting your 1% chance river card (poker)
8. Catching a record setting baseball as a fan
9.
10. Betting on a longshot and winning BIG

ok..
I will start off defending 2 of my picks..
eli
1. lucky his dad was high profile..
2. lucky he didnt go to SD
3. lucky gmen present all sorts of probs to pats..
its all about match up probs..
willie mays catch
he was LUCKY..
he had a vague idea where the ball was..
but it was blind luck.. LITERALLY..
but that one play will mortalize him forever..
he had a great career..
but ask 100 people, willie mays?
they will all say, noice catch..
randy johnsons bird play is more of a gimmick..
yeah, luck is involved..
but its not exactly going into the history books of excellence..
the hand of god was skill..
diego knew the ref was in a bad position..
look at the replay, he glances at the ref right before..
it was diegos awareness/soccer knowledge that we should be in awe of..
and it was an awesome impersonation of a header..

Johnson hitting a bird with a fastball and making it explode is a gimmick? What the hell are you talking about.
The odds of that happening are astronomical. If it happens, that's luck. Who said anything about the playing having to be in the history books or a performance of excellence? You said incidents of luck. If this isn't an "incident" what would you call it?
Willie Mays is regarded as one of the best players in baseball history. Over the head catches are hard... but done a couple times a year. Why is it lucky that one of the best players of all time pulls of this move?
You're brain dead. You think a guy cheating and the refs missing it is skill... but Eli Manning performing well in game after game after game and then winning TWO superbowls is lucky? Come on dude.
I could eat a bowl of Alphabet Soup and then crap out a better argument than this.

I disagree with your #3 Froggie, Willie made an awful lot of very similar plays, the circumstance of the catch made it more dramatic, but he routinely made plays other center fielders dreamed of doing someday

Kyle Petty's first career win. First like 6 drivers ahead of him crashed on the last lap, Kyle Petty squeezed through and went from 7th to first. Pretty much the highlight of his career. Much like Dale Jr not living up to his last name, Kyle Petty has done even less for his famous last name.

Mays catch wasn't luck. He had the ball in line and knew he could catch it, the signal was he tapped his glove. The more amazing part of the catch was the turn and throw.

How was Torres goal pure luck? He has a breakaway and beats the keeper. And by no means does he suck

Ya, I don't understand. Plus his hate for Eli is silly. You don't win 2 Superbowls with simply "luck"

can you imagine how many times Mickelson practiced that "flop" chip shot before he had the nerve to use it out on the course in a tournament?

How about a child stalker that lands a job as a teacher when he can't even write a legible sentence? He gets to hang out with kids and destroy their learning environment at the same time.
I'd say HCF fits the bill there!
One more loss... coming UP. Way to go HCF! Voting right because it's my job!

I can only support item 1 on left's first argument....if not for one of the best D's of all time, Pats go 19-0....BUT, right's first point is missing a key factor...for every bit of skill, practice, time, effort, etc, you have, your opponent has working against you as well....when all is said and done, a LOT of what happens is a result of luck....when a WR catches a pass, it isn't skill(it's just catching something that is right there)...a lot of times it is simply luck that the DB didn't intercept it or knock it down....a RB is generally relying on luck that the hole will be open when he gets there....for every brain that is plotting how to open a hole, there is an equal brain plotting to fill it....on any given play, it's a roll of the dice that the hole will be open....sometimes it is gaping and the RB can go for 30 yds...other times it's filled and even the best RBs get stuffed for a loss...

when GB could fall on a fumble and run out the clock but a lineman tries to pick it up and gives the ball back to the gints in the NFC playoffs, it's LUCK....NOTHING the gints did made the Packer's player make a poor decision...in fact, the decision was there only because the gints fumbled in the first place...then you get to the SB and win because of Tyree trapping the ball between his helmet and hand(you can't exactly say that was practiced)....it was all luck!
