The bucs will Finally have a Winning season

The bucs have a new coach with a great heart. Example: He filled up his last roster spot for a kid that was paralyzed.


First I must applaud Greg Schiano for a stand up move. The guy has shown absolute class in the signing of Eric LeGrand. Legrand, a former player of Schiano's during his time at Rutgers, was paralized on a special teams play while playing against Army. (for those of you who don't know)

Now on to the actual TD.

First, what exactly do you mean by "Finally" have a winning season? Is 2010 just to far back for you? Sure in 2011 the Tampa Bay buccaneers had a dissapointing season at 4-12, but the main reason this was as dissapointing as it was, is because in the year prior Tampa Bay finished a respectable 10-6.

So to say that the Bucs will "Finally" have a winning season after a mere 1 year seperation from said feat is really no statement at all.

Second. While I absolutely believe that Schiano's signing of Eric LeGrand was a true gesture of leadership, what I do not believe is that the addition of a quadriplegic Defensive lineman will increase the probability of the Bucs winning games. Now I don't mean to sound heartless here, but it's the truth.

Yes you are correct they had a winning season last year but they haven't made it to the playoffs since what 2006? And it wasn't to have Legrand play but rather to show that he cares and to inspire his team. So while I agree with you that they had a wining
season in 2010 and that they should take pride in that I still say they will have a wining season.


Sure the Bucs haven't made the playoffs since 2006, but again that is not what your statement is. Your statement remains that they would Finnally have a winning season. Are you now saying that the addition of Eric LeGrand will help Tampa Bay reach the playoffs somehow? Perhaps you could breakdown the schedule with W/L and show how you believe they will have a chance at the playoffs, and maybe tie in how LeGrand will help the team achieve that.

Not to mention he isn't going to take up any "roster spot". He isn't going to actually make the team...but if he did, the coach should be fired immediately.

So if they want to use one of those spots on a heartwarming publicity stunt, let em.

They're likely getting more off-the-field benefits from this (sales, marketing, etc) than they ever would have gotten on-the-field production with an able-bodied player.

That's actually a great point. With the camp expansion, the practice squads could become much more relevant in the last half of season than they already are. From that standpoint, anything, maybe like this LeGrand kid, could very well have guys coming in hot off the bench all year.
