I have plenty explanation for this rant, i saw something on facebook, saying, "Floyd's the best ever". Lets just say this made me sick to my stomach. haha
Ali, playboi.. lmao
I got COTTO
I would just like to tell everyone that i could care less for Mayweather, great fighter, just not a fan.
anywho, with that being said.
I went down an hour away and watched this bad boy at the movie theaters. Lets just say i got lost for about an hour and half getting there, but we won't talk about that. I Knew and have known that Cotto was pretty bad ass, but boy, what a showing this guy put on. He made Mayweather's nose bleed, I've never seen any fighter do that to 'em. lol Cotto shouldn't have been a 7-1 underdog, that's laughable.
Anywho, I'll cut to the chase..
top 3 in the welterweight, super weilterweight or junior middle weight, whatever division they call home, the top 3 bad boys down there are pac, floyd, and cotto.
With the 4th being the winner of Berto vs Ortiz.. or even the "red headed" mexican
I don't know, I think Cotto put up a hella of fight, with Manny probably not fighting Floyd, for whatever frkn reason, I think Cotto should fill that void.

Call me a sucker for versatility, but if Floyd and his fans are TRULY interested in declaring him the "greatest ever", he needs to make his next move up the weight-class charts...
With a reach (72") that belies his 5'8" frame, he has the ability to fight bigger fighters without getting stretched out beyond his range. If he has any interest in writing a larger history, it's time for Mayweather to remake himself as a middleweight and unify the title in that fractious division.
Who should he fight first? There's IBF champ Daniel Geale from Australia, or WBO champ Dmitry Pirog of Russia. Felix Sturm is the "super champion" of the WBA, while Gennady Golovkin is the regular WBA champ as well as the IBO's middleweight title holder.
But for sheer name recognition, the next big fight for Mayweather should be against Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr., his father a boxing legend who for a time was the best pound-for-pound pugilist in the world and he himself an undefeated WBC middleweight champion.
If a fight against the best competition in his weight class is unavailable, as Pacquiao has proven to be, it's time for Floyd to seek out a bigger challenge...

ahahahhahahah
are you serious?
the same Chavez that's been running scared from SErgio Martinez?
the same Chavez Jr. that's fought all cans?
wow, no way, jose.
THE ONLY reason it would be slightly cool is because they're both undefeated.
Floyd, he's fought some great deceased fighters already, Chavez Jr, he just took his first shot of tequillia
Bigalke said 05/09, 01:12 AM
The problem is that you're discussing the NEXT fight. Would you really expect Floyd to jump weight class and immediately take on the most dangerous fighter off the bat?!
No, you'd expect him to take on a big name, somebody that can draw additional dollars with his name. A battle of undefeated champions and the sons of boxing legends... if we're not going to get a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight, this would be a big consolation prize.
Think about it... Mayweather jumps up in class, Chavez sees dollar signs that Martinez could never bring to the table, and next thing we know Floyd is going down as an undefeated six-division champion.
Laugh all you want, but if we're talking logical and lucrative, this could be one hell of a draw simply because of the names emblazoned on the pre-fight promotional material. And, since we're taking this from Floyd's perspective, it would behoove him to fight somebody legitimate but not too legitimate right off the bat moving up a weight class.
Your laughter does nothing to show how this is less logical or legacy-building than a freakin' REMATCH... give me something novel, something new, thank you.

YES, he sure is full of himself to see he's the best ever.. lol..
Plus, if Chavez is scared of Martinez, what you thnk he is of money may may? lmao
Laugh all you want, but if we're talking logical and lucrative, this could be one hell of a draw simply
I'm still laughing to be exact.. Yes, i see how it would generate money, but i don't see this being a fun fight..
Cotto vs Mayweather, we know, would be a crunk fight..
IF Cotto wouldn't have let off the pedal in the 9th to finish, we might be seeing mr. unstoppable with an L on his unblemished record..
Cotto deserves a rematch, deserves more than 8 million, when Floyd gets 32, and deserves a little cred here, over someone you picked, that simply hasn't fought anybody worth 2 ****'s..
Cotto>Chavez Jr..
I know Cotto has 3 losses, but still..
At least with Cotto, he brings another huge name in the mix,and most importantly, we know he's going to frkn FIGHT... bottom line
Bigalke said 05/09, 10:30 AM
"The problem is that you're discussing the NEXT fight."
OF COURSE I'm discussing the next fight... the topic, which YOU posted, was "Who should Floyd fight next?" Because of that, I was pragmatic in NOT taking on the MOST dangerous fighter right away in a weight-class jump.
Don't get me wrong, Cotto is a great fighter. He deserves respect... but respect & a rematch are 2 very different things. Besides, you asked who Mayweather should fight NEXT... not AGAIN.
Whereas you simply propose what everyone else already saw this past weekend, I gave you something novel to think about. It provides a logical path toward a rise to another weight, offers the ability to test himself against a competent (if not the MOST dangerous) challenger at the higher weight, and brings two historic monikers together to duel for a big payday.
You deigned to waste your 2nd argument, doing nothing more than laughing to refute logic. You rant about Cotto without telling us why FLOYD should fight him again. Remember? That's the question. What's best for Floyd... not for fans, but for Floyd.
Laugh about Chavez, but fighting Cotto again is counter to Floyd's best interests.

I did see that Zab and Juan Manual Marquez are throwing down @ Cowboy stadium. (JULY 14)
This fight will be a good one. I think Zab, stylistically, could might sneak a W. No hate on Marquez, I just like Zab's size advantage, and probably reach at that.
Zab haters, the Khan sh8t was below the belt. #jus sayin'

I disagree.
I think Cotto was only behind a couple rounds, remember it went to a decision?

Zach,
You named all the MWs except the only one that could actually give Floyd a run for his money...#3 pound for pound overall, Sergio Martinez (although Chavez Jr. makes a good option due to name recognition).

not a "close" decision though....AND, Mayweather was starting to do more as the fight came to a close....

Sergio Martinez is trying to fight the winner of the J. C. Chavez Jr/Andy Lee fight that is scheduled for June. That would effectively lock up Martinez and either Lee or Chavez for the rest of the year.

Martinez would gladly drop that fight if he had a chance at fighting Floyd. Chavez represents his biggest payday which is why he is pursuing that and knows Floyd doesn't want none of him.

If not Pac, Martinez is the only fight left. No rematch. Floyd could have ended the fight and it wasn't that close.

If it wasn't for the crowd Cotto might have won just one round..... I'll give Cotto this, he sure can take a punch. Bayweather was connecting repeatedly with the right over the top but Cotto took it like a trooper....

"Floyd doesn't want none of him" for good reason. To fight the much bigger Martinez at 154 would be a bad decision by Mayweather. This weekend's fight was Floyd at his heaviest. Couple that with having to wear the heavier gloves and you have a less effective Floyd Mayweather.

Floyd would be wearing the same gloves as he did vs Cotto and in this fight would probably prefer the bigger gloves vs the bigger man.
I don't blame Floyd or Pac for not wanting any of Martinez. They are a lot smaller, I am just saying out side of each other that is the only match for them.
Not sure if I would say it is a bad decision. Martinez hasn't looked all that great as of late and I think his #3 P4P rankings was a bit premature. To me it would be a no lose situation for both guys. If you win and do the fight at 155 or above you have now not just added another weight division title to your collection but you have added the middleweight championship to your legacy. If you lose well you lost to a much bigger man, at least you tried. I understand it would hurt their marketing a little but it shouldn't.

I think the image of an unconscious Paul Williams on the canvas is plenty of a deterrent for naturally smaller fighters like Mayweather to avoid the likes of Sergio Martinez. The biggest thing that Mayweather has and wants to protect is the "and oh" portion of his record. Retiring an undefeated champion would put him in truly rarefied air.
