I'm confused. How does beating the Pacers get them a ring? And how does winning a championship ring change the fact that the man is hated? Kurt Busch won a NASCAR championship in 2004, and was at the time in the top 5 of most hated athletes. His championship changed nothing. He's still a **********. Kobe Bryant is despised here in Colorado, and in many places around the country, but he's a winner. Period. Same with Shaq. How many people still can't stand him? And all his rings? Brett Favre, wow, there's a hated man. As he holds up his MVPs and lets his Super Bowl ring for all the world to see.
Meanwhile, Tim Tebow, who was last year the most popular NFL player in the league has zero Super Bowl wins.
Winning rings doesn't stop you from being hated. And it never will. LeBron will hold up the trophy, and boos will ring out around the country, especially in Cleveland.

That's the key to properly conducting a throwdown, it would appear. Tell a good story.
I once played on a high school football team that beat the crosstown rivals 48-0 in the season opener. The newspaper had headlines proclaiming us to be the next state champions. And we finished the season 2-9. That's how much it means to beat any one team.
In the end LeBron has another MVP trophy, and his team has a chance at a ring, but that's all he has. If he plays like he did last year in the finals, he'll be watching the Lakers hoist another banner to their ceiling.
But, and it is as of yet an unproven but....if he can put it all together, keep his mind on the game....he can be a champion.
It remains to be seen.
