Thanks to all.

Now, excellent plan to improve the Big East, but here's the problem.

What if Notre Dame says no? True, they are low paid, but the last few years of a contract is ALWAYS the least paid. When NBC reups, the monies will increase.

Notre Dame HAS THEIR OWN NETWORK why would they give that up to try and get ND/Purdue on ESPN when they are looking at either Bama/Auburn/Florida/Texas A&M etc etc etc.

ND can be 2-5 and their home games are STILL going to be on national TV on a big network.

No team in the NATION can say that. Not even ESPNTexas.

My Plan even will put the 2-5 ND team's ROAD game on a Mid-tier Sat or Cable package. I can still drink my Irish Lager and watch 2 teams with 4 wins in November play it out.

Another thing, the ACC has raided the BE twice now, taking the best, you are going to lose WVA and other teams soon. Will adding TULSA really solidify a BCS bid? ND has a solid shot at a BCS game already, but but does a 10-2 ND team with a BIG EAST SCHEDULE really get a second spot over the SEC?

My Plan removes the Big 12 as a BCS slot- meaning OU or WVA has to beat out the ACC/Pac12 or Big 10 for a second BCS Spot

Okay, so the two plans are in. Mine requires one team, already affiliated in every other sport, to bring its football team over and reap the benefits of collective negotiation. While Notre Dame is still a solid commodity, NBC knows all too well the diminishing returns of its football telecasts of the Irish. The problem isn't the last few years of their current deal. The problem is that declining TV ratings & recent on-field irrelevance make them less attractive at a higher price... sure, "ND can be 2-5 and their home games are STILL going to be on national TV on a big network", but if fewer & fewer people watch it's moot.

Now your plan, on the other hand, requires an entire conference of teams to defect from one beleaguered league to another. What in your plan makes the Big East more attractive than the Big XII for Oklahoma, or TCU? The Horned Frogs turned away once... why would they accept again?

The Big XII is raiding teams from the Big East. What in your plan would compel that trend to suddenly reverse?

My plan requires incremental change. You're blowing up the entire system on a prayer. And remember, it's in an environment when BCS bids GO AWAY.

NBC has publicly stated they have NO DESIRE to let ND go to another network. The rating have fluctuated, but NBC has stated their ad revenue has more than paid for the contract.

So ND is still looking to stay on the Peacock.

Next. the SEC has looked to create a Rose-Bowl level game. If that happens not only is the Big East going to be frozen out, but the ACC as well and the other mid-Majors.

Does this save the Big 12? No, not really. The SEC is so dominant that they are going to lose this game almost as much as the ACC lost in their VS series in basketball.

But ESPNTexas still holds the advantages. They will still make more money, have more exposure, and as we all know 80% of winning in football is the talent on the field, add more TV time to potentials, and you will get better kids.

A Big East network does that.

The Big 10 network gave their schools 6.5 million in 2011.

That is MORE than the Big East has gotten
( $3.18 million for football schools, $1.56 million for non-football schools)

I'm giving you a network with Texas, Florida and the Big NE schools.

You can try your damnedest, but if Notre Dame is a reach then the Longhorns offer a mirage of a chance to pry them away... especially now that the SEC & Big XII have combined forces with their new "Champions Bowl".

Texas would bring no value; you're not going to convince them to give up Longhorn Network material for a Big East Network. There's NO way to make Texas more money in the Big East. As YOU said, "ESPNTexas still holds the advantages." At no time did you explain WHY they would cede those advantages to the Big East with a smile...

But there IS, as I've shown, incredible growth potential for the Fighting Irish if they shed independence finally. Twice the money... &, if NBC is smart, they know that the ND contract is what has kept them from nabbing a whole league. More content is better than less.

A Big East Network, at this point, would risk being a money drain rather than a money maker. The Big Ten Network has been successful... but a Big East Network risks being more like the Mtn. than like the BTN.

I'm not going to waste money broadcasting. I'm going to draw money from broadcasters, with a rejuvenated football league & a new-look basketball setup...

Interesting TD format, by the way. I like the whole "thinking outside the box" style.I actually have an idea for an alternate sort of TD, myself, where the participants record their arguments on video and post them to YouTube, which would provide a way of spoken TD arguments with limitless character counts. Just waiting for someone who's down to argue a TD in that style.

Interesting idea... I assume you'd have a time limit on the video arguments. We'll have to talk it out more, because I'm definitely interested by the concept.

If I have to go to another website to read arguments...I am out. I have enough going with work, real life, and this damn addiction of mine, that I don't need some other site to read..

Why can't you copy and paste the text here for the arguments?

Longer form.

My arg is over 3K characters, might be hard to break it up into TD part 1,2 etc

All for it. Get your name in the news, endear yourself to old farts (80% of baseballs fanbase) and not even miss a start?

Done.

Most of the "old farts" weren't impressed.

But maybe they don't know he is also a fetus-whisperer.

Because they are promoting blogs on their site, not really doing a TD.

It is a throwdown, but just in a different way where they post their opening statement someone else so they can go w/o limit for their first throwdown argument. The rest of the arguments, from what I can tell, will be in argument 2 & 3 & will be actually hear in the argument box.

Yeah, I know what they are doing. Any way you slice it, it's to promote their site. I'm not complaining, but it is what it is. The question was asked why they can't just copy/paste the arguments here, and that is the reason.
