5) USC vs Notre Dame
Two of the storied programs in football history, they've had some intense meetings. Not as long standing but just as good.
4) Texas vs Oklahoma
The Red River Rivalry started in 1900, and the schools have met 106 times. The meeting typically has national as well as conference implications.
3) Auburn vs Alabama
In a state lacking a major sports franchise and driven by a love for football, these two play an incredibly talented and heated rivalry. Even a 40 year break couldn't weaken this intense rivalry.
2) Army vs Navy
In the early days of college football, this game decided much more than just who would win the commander in chief trophy. The tradition behind this rivalry is one that even Ohio State and Michigan cannot match, however the huge drop in terms of national relevance makes me place them second.
1) Ohio State vs Michigan
They've met 108 times, 22 with it deciding the Big Ten conference title between the two schools. They first played in 1897, and have met all but five years since 1900. The two schools are some of the most storied in the history of the sport, and share a strong dislike for each other.

SO wrong on the order
1. Army/Navy - rivalry with respect and carries through generations. Tell a person in the military that this game isn't relevant.
Part of the reason I dock Ohio/Michigan is SO many of the players and families cross the lines, plus basketball is important there.
Auburn/Alabama- there is nothing else in that state- and they have even taken to killing TREES
Much like the Bama/Auburn game, these two states LOVE football. You ask a Texan if he wants to give up football or BBQ, and the only question he asks is "how good are my seats?"
4. Ohio State/Michigan
5. The SEC gets 2 members to the BCS list- I'm going to give them 2 here.
Ask yourself this:
Who is ND's biggest rival? Might be USC, might be Navy to some people. The this Irishman, I'll take a loss to USC to beat Michigan. Some might even hate Army or Purdue.
USC? Might be ND, or even UCLA.
LSU might hate Bama NOW, but Arkansas has been hated for decades
And vice versa

Our differences are you having a manufactured, not intense rivalry in the top 5 and moved down Ohio State-Michigan.
Basketball is NOT more important to anyone at Michigan or Ohio State. The two schools dislike each other passionately, and the rivalry is without a doubt one of the most intense in the nation. They have just as much history as Army-Navy, except the games have consistently been better and more nationally relevant. To have them at 4 is a joke.
How do you have LSU-Arkansas here? This rivalry has little to no history, and wasn't even considered a major rivalry until the SEC created it for them, complete with an awful trophy. There's some history sure, but the two played games as solid opponents in the past, not hated rivals. Each team has much bigger concerns as rivals, as do the fans.
I find it ironic you challenge ND-USC based on having other rivals but include two teams who don't consider each other their main rivals. ND-USC is absolutely the main rivalry between the two. They have others, yes. What team doesn't? ND-USC is a heated rivalry between two of the most historic programs. It's real and natural; not faked like Arkansas-LSU.

I'm trying to recall the last time OSU and Michigan won a BCS title game
Oh, that would be 2003. OSU beat the #12 ranked Michigan
Michigan won the 2000 Orange Bowl, and last years Sugar Bowl
Each time beating a HIGHLY relevant UNRANKED Ohio State team.
Oh yeah- HIGHLY nationally relevant
2009 - OSU Beat an unranked Michigan
2008 - Michigan, UNRANKED
Man, what a RELEVANT Game you have
I could care LESS about Navy's record, or if they are ranked. I want the school to lose, lose badly, and for the school to burn to the ground
For three whole hours (longer if we lose) You have people AROUND THE WORD doing pushups during a game when Army/Navy play. There IS no better rivalry in Football. Both teams could be winless, and this is the only game we care about. Win this game and the season is successful. Army could be undefeated, and losing to Navy makes us want to tar and feather the coach
Don't bring me National Championships- Harvard and Yale have 54 combined- and no Sub in Guam is stopping everything to watch
