this is a tribute to drogba..
boy am i going to miss him:(
for all intents and purposes, drogba has retired from ultra competitive futbol:(
he will now go to china, collect one last fat paycheck, and goof off with his buddy anelka..
i dont blame him..
its better to go out as a legend, scoring an amazing goal and the winning penalty..
Drogba is smart..
6th place chelsea is no longer an empire.. Its a freakin bus boy!
leave now, before things get really ugly..
and
the icing on the cake?
looks like my boy torres gets his old starting job back!
a chance for him to get his career on track..
drogba stays and torres wists away into oblivion..
Ok, enough with the love fest!
I will let you pick first..
and then i will argue drogba vs henry in my 2nd + 3rd..
But if you want to spend one argument to add to the lovefest..
thats fine by me:)
My eyes are watery..
i hate seeing soccer legends go..
you think they are going to play forever..
and when it happens, part of you is happy for them..
but, to me, how can you not be a fan of futbol, and not get upset?

I love Drogba too, hate to see him go an play in some soft league. I thought he was going to go play in the MLS which is somewhat better than whatever team he is going to in Shang-Hi. But I agree go out while he was on top. But there is no comparison between Drogba and Henry. I would choose Drogba any day over him, and Drogba isn't even my favorite soccer player but I know talent and Drogba to me is definitely my favorite over Henry.

Ill take thierry henry in a heartbeat..
(being a gunner fan, i was hoping you pick drogba)..
They both have eeirly similar careers..
both played in london for 8 years..
both top quality strikers..
drogba played for a better club..
henry had a better supporting cast for country..
drogba had a better work rate..
drogba was probably better at headers too..
i personally believe henry could create more magic, maybe thats just me..
also, henry has a cooler trademark.. That little flick shot, to tbw far post..
henry made an incredibly difficult shot look easy..
We could go on and on about comparisons..
BUT
if you could only have one for your team,
henry has to be the man..
drogba was too much of a liability..p

You see for me its hard to compare two players that are almost equal to me. On one hand you have Henry which you are correct with his little flick shot. And on the other hand you have drogba who can nail it from anywhere on the pitch. When he shot that long shot from about 40+ out against Bayern I thought was sick. Because it shows how much leg strength he has.
your right about drogba not being as flashy/magical, but i will tell you this the dude is one of the most clutch players i have seen in a good while. i mean i know that was his first European Championship, but he single handedly put Chelsea on his back and say come on lets win this bad boy. And i still have goosebumps from what i saw him do against Bayern.
And by what liability do you mean? all he does is go out on the pitch match after match and leaves everything out on the field.
HighwayCrossingFrog said 05/24, 06:56 AM
Damn.. I do a tribute to drogba..
and drogba doesnt even win his own tribute, ha ha..
c"est la vie..
Liability?
he gave up 2 stupid penalties vs barca and bayern,
that should have cost his team a tragic loss..
but the post and cech, bailed drogba out..
Theres a million other examples of drogba acting like a monkey..
drogba was not as bad as balotelli, but we are talkin same ballpark..
costing your team a chance of victory, by making a mistake a 12year old would not make..
its beyond criminal..
Drogba is not a bad guy..
he is not a thug..
he just suffers from mental lapses of concentration,
and
sometimes, he plays with such passion and emotion,
it affects his ability to think straight..
havin said all that..
yes i will miss him dearly..
he is one of those special players, we will tell our grandkids about..
chelseas job at replacing him is virtually impossible..
maybe they can get a man chitty reject striker?
someone who can compete vs torres to become THE MAN..
But
i dont see alot of quality at striker position available durin offseason..
neymar? Brazilian 19er..

no, he tied it up in the 89th minute to force extra time and then scored the game winning kick in the shootout.

I was lucky enough to have been busy that morning and didn't turn the game on until the 80th minute....was good from there...

I think Drogba is great and all, but when comparing career peaks Henry is a cut above. His strike rate at Arsenal was pretty good.

Materazzi is a gutless punk. If Zidane had headed him into the goal, it should've counted.
