No depth at any position and their point guard and center positions are fairly weak. Paul Pierce and Ray Allen also are injury prone. When teams add too many players, the chemisty is screwed up because these players aren't really used to sharing the ball a lot.

The Celtics will not only get out of the first round but they have the talent to challenge in the East. They'll end up as one of the top 3 seeds in the East which means they'll play a 6, 7 or 8 seed and in the East that doesn't present much of a challenge. Pierce and Allen are not injury prone, but they did have nagging ankle injuries to deal with last season. As for the chemistry-- Allen, Pierce and Garnett are three All-NBA caliber players who will have 82 games to gel with each other before the playoffs.

Allen Iverson and Carmello Anthony had half a season to get to play with each other before the playoffs. Even with all the talent on the Nuggets, they still lost in the first round because of chemistry problems.

they played in the West and lost to the best team in the league. Half a season isn't equivalent to a whole offseason and an entire regular season. Plus three All-STars is better than 2.

Garnett, Allen and Pierce??? And a bunch of midgets cld win the East....They wont, Miami will beat them in East Finals

In 09 Boston gets to the NBA Finals....

Forget the "chemistry problems" nonsense. Pierce and Allen grew up together and both have been friends with Garnett since he came into the league. This wasn't a case of just taking 3 random stars and throwing them together. Most importantly they are 3 stars who all have an entirely different game from the others. Their respective skills compliment each other perfectly.

As for "no depth", Eddie House, Scott Pollard, and James Posey is "no depth"? Do you know anything about basketball beyond the superstars? All are excellent role players who can sub in reliably. And the the Celts stole Glen Davis in the 2nd round. Rajon Rondo and Tony Allen are both capable youngsters who can play D.

On paper no other team in the East is close to the Celtics.

"Miami will beat them in East Finals "

Miami likely isn't even top 5 in the East, anymore. Their only true superstar these days is going to miss a month and a half, at least. Shaq treats the regular season like it's one long training camp, plays when he feels like it, and isn't very effective without Wade in the lineup. And they lost Posey to the Celtics. That was huge.

Chicago, Detroit, and NJ are all considerably better teams than Miami at this point. None compare to Boston, on paper, unless the Bulls somehow manage to get Kobe without giving up half their roster in the trade.
