Yes, if you like international sports.
summer starts monday may 28..
and
goes on for 3 and a half freakin months..
life doesnt get better:)

I could literally change every one of your choices. However, in the interest of brevity and in deference to my current state of intoxication, I shall limit my changes to three.

1.) Remove the French Open and replace it with Wednesday, September 5, 2012. That date marks the glorious return of the NFL into our sporting lives. Eli Manning and the defending NFL Champion New York Giants take on the Dallas Cowboys in the 2012 NFL Kickoff Game.

As a side note, please place "almanac" on your Christmas list. Summer runs from June 20 - September 21. In addition to the NFL being the clearly better choice, the French Open occurs entirely in the Spring.

2.) Remove the Euro Cup and replace it with the start of College Football. There are few sports that bring the weekly excitement of college football.

3.) Remove the Tour De France and replace it with the Little League World Series. This one is a no-brainer. Both are international events, but one features a bunch of dopers and one features young, wide-eyed twelve year olds playing the game they love.

I will go into greater detail for all of my choices in the subsequent arguments. Until then, good luck.

Cowboys vs gmen..
right..
doesnt get my juices flowing, sorry..
everyone knows that eli doesnt show up till the playoffs anyway.
Plus the cowboys have consistently underachieved under romo..
this is not a big game, sorry..
the US open is going on then..
if its a great match involving the big three..
im going to watch mostly tennis, and then switch over, when eli wakes up in the 4th quarter..
regular season eli, is not must see tv, sorry..

Little league world series is more of a cute event..
it will be competiting vs the olympics time slot..
im pretty sure the olympics will get way higher viewership..

Start of college football, again has to compete vs US open..
who knows?
maybe at that stage, djoker will be going after a calendar grand slam..
i would rather see history vs amateurs..

Froggie, Froggie, Froggie...you poor misguided soul.

The specific teams playing in the Kickoff Game aren't the important part, although the Giants and Cowboys almost always put on a good show. The important thing is after a seven month absence, NFL football will be back. It's the opening day for America's favorite sport. Every team is in first place and even the Browns haven't been mathematically eliminated yet. It's the hope and promise of a new season.

The return of NFL football is far more exciting to the average sports fan than anything the US Open has to offer.

As if saying that sports fans would rather look forward to the US Open than NFL football wasn't enough, you went and said that the US Open would be a better draw than college football as well. If I didn't already know you weren't American, I'd lobby to have your citizenship revoked.

Let's take a look at the fans of these various events:

Tennis fans:

College football fans:

I don't know about you, but I'd much rather be with the coeds. Maybe that's just me...

I'll discuss the merits of the LLWS in the third argument.

I said top sporting events in the title..
not mickeymouse nonsense!

If the opening game was:
pats vs green bay..
denver vs jets..
seattle vs 49ers..

FINE, that would get my juices flowing..

College futbol was a triffle disappointing last year..
lsu vs alabama, in the regular season, sucked..

LLWS..
I admit, when im bored out of my mind..
i will watch parts of LLWS..
but not when the olympics are on..
i would lose my man card for sure..

I agree. We certainly wouldn't want to look forward to any "mickeymouse nonsense" like:

Tennis:

Or Soccer:

We look forward to real sports, like football and baseball. The beginnings of the NFL and College Football seasons are events that real sports fans look forward to the minute the previous seasons end. Nothing Mickey Mouse about them at all.

The final change I made from your list was the LLWS versus the Tour De France, which I note you didn't bother to defend. I don't know what it is about the French, but at the first sign of conflict, they're nowhere to be seen. Despite the all-too-predictable French surrender, I shall soldier on to defend the LLWS.

There is something very endearing about watching these twelve year old kids play their hearts out. There are no million-dollar contracts; no agents; no syringes filled with magic elixirs. They're just kids, playing a kids game while their nervous parents watch on. Most will never go much farther in the sport than those ten special days in Williamsport and that's ok. It's just a pure form of the game and it's a treat to watch.

Sifu says Frog-san lost his man card a very long time ago, may budha be merciful upon him.

May 26, 2012  04:42 PM ET

i would lose my man card for sure..

Dude!!

You chose TENNIS over football!

You have no man card. No Y chromosome. No testes. Your body is obviously overflowing with estrogen! In short, you are a typical soccer fan.

Do we really need too? Hell yeah...*

Left picked the events I would have picked (except French Open, obviously, since it is a spring event)... the right argued the topic better, though aiming more for the pithy than the contentious. I'm going to refrain from voting this time, but this was a fun read...

I must say, though, that I find the assumption that one sport is inherently more "masculine" than another, or that enjoying a particular sport is an indication of the absence or presence of specific genitalia, to be more revealing about the people uttering the insinuations than the people about whom they are being uttered.

May 27, 2012  02:17 PM ET

I like the changes by right. The counter arguments were pretty awesome also.
