1. Hamilton for Sucky sucky Volquez
2. Reds trade 2 .300 batters, Lopez and Kearns for 2 bum relievers, (one immediately going on the DL! no less)..
3. Perkins, the core of our defence, for 2 bums!! arrrrggggg!!! Why? Why damn it! why?
Why?
Why? Why are the innocent punished? Why the sacrifice? Why the pain? There aren't any promises. Nothing certain. Only that some get called, some get saved. Perkins won't ever know the hardship and grief for those of us left behind. We commit these oklahoma Bums to the void with a glad heart. For within each seed, there is a promise of a flower, and within each death, no matter how small, there's always a new life. A new beginning. Amen. :)
4. Bronson Arroyo for Reds slugger willy mo pena..
This is more of a loyalty thing that destroyed my sanity..
We get Bronson for a hometown discount, with our word that we wont trade him..
But we stab him in the back..
He would have been a noice 5th starter these days, wouldnt he?
5. Hanley Ramirez and Mike Lowell for the bum josh Beckett..
Boy wouldnt it be noice to have a great shortstop..
We havent had one since 2003!

Um, yeah
Comment 2 for my rebuttal.
Cringe.
Lebron James to Miami.
You did know he was traded, right? James was given away for a pair of picks. True he would have left anyway, but the Cavs let him make a little more money on the way out and fix his contract a little better. Had Danny held his guns, the summer of 2014 would be MUCH more interesting for a ringless Lebron
Gasol to LA
Yup. Hated it then, hated it now. Giftwrapped a title for Kobe.
Perkins to OKC
No arguments here.
Willie Roaf to KC
Hall of Famer, for a FOURTH rounder? To save Joe Horn?
Roaf only made FOUR more pro-bowls in KC (upgraded pick to a third)
Cutler to Bears.

nuh-uh
Not a baseball guy, but the comments have KILLED you for the picks.

Josh Beckett helped the Sox win a World Series. As did Mike Lowell. So while the Sox gave up the best prospect in the deal, they didn't get fleeced. Your hatred of Beckett clouds your objectivity.

Braves trade Adam Wainwright and Jason Marquis for JD Drew, Eli Marrero and Ray King, Marrero and King did nothing as a Brave and we only kept Drew for one season
Braves trade Neftali Feliz, Elvis Andrus, Matt Harrison and Jarrod Saltalamacchia for Mark Teixeira and Ron Mahay.
Doesn't hurt as bad now since we have decent starting pitching and an exciting prospect at short stop, but Mark teixeira only spent a year with the Braves, and Mahay only stayed half a season.

And I cringed when the Braves traded Jeff Francoeur to the Mets for Ryan Church.

This is completely non-sensical. Boston got Beckett AND Lowell for Hanley, and won the 2007 World Series. Lowell and Beckett were the keys to that win.

You must not be much of a Celtics fan if you don't know the answer to this.
-The Celtics offered Perk a 4 year extension at more than $5mil per year. He refused and was going to be a free agent after last season. You don't give the 5th most important player on the team more than that.
-Perk was NOT "the core of the defense". Not even close. That would be KG. Boston had the #2 scoring defense in the NBA this year without Perk, clearly he wasn't the catalyst behind the D.
-Jeff Green isn't a "bum". They had no idea he'd miss this season when they made the trade. Boston also received a first round pick in this years draft as part of the swap so it's far too early to judge the trade to begin with.
I'm no fan of Danny Ainge, but basically he had no choice but to trade Perk for what they could get and Green wasn't a bad option at all. Solid scorer off the bench to spell both Forward positions. Boston knew what they were getting in Green considering they drafted him #5 overall in '07. He was actually the key player in the trade that brought Ray Allen to Boston.

OH, and the Celtics were 33-10 while Perk was out last year rehabbing after knee surgery. That extrapolates out to 63-19 over a full season. Clearly they didn't miss him. When Rondo got hurt in the playoffs the season was done, Perk would have made no difference and they'd have lost him in free agency.
I'd rather have Jeff Green and a first rounder right now as the team prepares to tweak the roster, than an empty hand.

I couldn't have said it better. I will concede that Beckett has been issue-laden lately but you're foolish if you're going to cast an opinion on that trade only taking Beckett circa 2011 & 2012 into account. If you were paying attention, you know that Hanley Ramirez was no choir boy coming up and has had his 'moments' with the Marlins, too. The bottom line here is that this trade was win/win for both clubs. If you're going to bang on this trade, you might as well go all the way and dump on Nomar for Cabrerra and Mientkiewicz. The Sox gave up the most talent in that deal but nobody could possibly argue with the outcome.

I have always wondered about these two.
Imagine an Atlanta team right now with Wainwright, Harrison and Feliz on the pitching staff and Andrus at short. Plus, Salty as trade bait.
