What if the Heat lost? I think the big question is....

Would Erik Spoelstra get fired?

I say yes.

Think about it, he gathered up "The Big Three" to win a championship, but fail to win two times in a row. Think about all the **** the team had to go through all off-season with being made fun of. That would've doubled and Spoelstra would've been involved in the talk.

If they lost, a change would have to be made. It would have the start with the coach. What else would they do? They have a near-perfect team and if you can't win with them, something's not working.

You saw the control Spoelstra had over his team last year when LeBron James bumped into Spoelstra walking past him on the sideline (same thing he did to Mike Brown in Cleveland). And in the ECSF, you saw D-Wade get into a heated argument with Spo.

Not only does/did he have no control over his team, but he would be criticized until Pat Riley would be forced to let him go as head coach and start anew.

Good Luck! MTC

No.

1. The Heat have a built in "excuse" in the fact that Bosh was hurt, and Wade was hit by that sniper a few weeks back they are still looking for.

Not to mention that crazy divorce he's going through.

2. Dwayne and the Bron love Spo. They both have repeatedly stated he is their coach and no matter what, they want to keep him in charge. Pat Riley has total control of this franchise, and he's not going to go through another 2006 hit on his reputation.

Do you think he's going to bring in Philbo? Lenny Wilkins? Who is he going to bring in that can manage these egos? The Van Gundy twins?

Bosh has repeatedly spoken how much Spo has pushed his game. You think Quinn Snyder or Phil Ford are going to improve them over a guy they love?

Chuck Daly isn't walking through that door.

Yes.

First off, just some crazy suggestions for the coaching job in Larry Brown, or Dr. Phil Jackson.

"Dwayne and the Bron love Spo."

That's what every team member would say about the head coach. That's so there won't be drama. You can't act like nothings wrong when your star players are arguing with you/intentionally bumping into you. The chemistry between the players and the coach isn't there.

Spoelstra's not the perfect coach.

Here's an example: He doesn't use Chris Bosh correctly.

Last year, he averaged 19/8 a game (pts/rbds) and then had 2 30 point outings in 5 games against the Bulls. This year, Bosh is only averaging 18 points on 49% from the floor.

"Chris Bosh is the most important player on this team. Without Bosh, the Heat are nothing. They lose out on their best midrange shooter, someone who can shoot and put the ball on the floor and a player who can make some sort of impact on the boards."

Bosh is getting paid more than Wade and almost the same as LeBron. Stop treating him like a third choice. He can easily go for 20 a game. Take advantage of the quickest PF. Stop relying on driving and 3 pt. shooting and use his terrific midrange stroke.

Shaq had to be dragged off the court because people were scared he was going to punch Riley.

Zo and Riley got face to face one time and the team swarmed ZO because they thought they would kill Pat.

Isiah threatened to find Chuck Daly in the parking lot one day and Daly tossed him his keys.

Maxwell almost got into a fight with Hakeem when he threatened to rearrainge Rudy Ts face.

Man, amazing how none of those players won titles.

Jordan PUNCHED Steve Kerr, then later that season won a ring diming Kerr.

Players get mad, then most move on, not every player is Bill Russell (who threatened Wilt with an arseewhuppin if he talked to Red again) or Spree-well

The talking heads almost universally claim Spo is a VERY good coach and is/was doing an exceptional job. They stated this both before and during the Boston and OKC series.

Making the Finals in back to back years- with limited help from the 4-12 guys looks pretty good on a resume.

On LeBron James', Chris Bosh's, and Dwayne Wade's resume maybe. Not on Erik Spoelstra's. The only thing good on Spo's resume is that he made back to back finals and went 1-1.

But, I'd like to go back to what Spo does wrong:

Flawed defensive strategy- They double-team at least 90% of the time on defense, so at least 90% of the time, there's an open man ready to make the bucket when given the ball. For the Heat, it's go big or go home on defense. Double-team and get a turnover, or double-team and let up easy buckets.

Ineffective Lineups- They have a great roster. Only the dumbest coaches can **** that up. What does Spoelstra do? He **** it up. Substitutions need to be a hybrid between situations and fatigue. Spoelstra doesn't do any of it. In some games, you never see the Big 3 on the court at the same time after the tip. If you want max results, have them on the court at the same time more. Maximize the team's potential. Don't have your frontcourt consist of James Jones, Joel Anthony, and Udonis Haslem.

Offense- The Heat's playbook looks like a high-school, in-town basketball league. There's 5 guys on a court, and we'll pass the ball to the star.

Holy Cripe this things got no eyeballs.

Geez.

Anyway, thanks 809, I appeciate your OOB thinking.

- anywhoo

You may see holes in the Heat's offensive game, But let's not ignore the Heat defense, it is top-notch and to me, was the key to the title run.

Let's also nit forget that Spo was given a MONSTER job, with all the media commitments and egos that go with it, plus no offseason this year.

At game 5 by the way, FOUR players went for over 20

By lost, of course I mean the NBA Finals, not just this game.

June 22, 2012  02:41 AM ET

Most likely would, I agree.

I'm thinking he'd be gone. Dave says that LeBron and DWade love Spoelstra. Only because they can blame him for ineptitude when they don't rise to the occasion. I honestly think that winning was the only thing that keeps him employed and that if they don't repeat he may be job hunting next year.

People do not give Spoelstra the credit he deserves. He is a very good coach. Anybody who dis agrees does not know basketball. He did the same thing KC Jones (another underrated coach), Riley, and Jackson among many others did, make sure great talent plays together in a winning fashion without having egos play a role.

Guys, most of the stuff in my second and third arguments are from bleacherreport. Just giving them credit.

They'd probably trade Bosh in an attempt to shore up their bench depth

I didn't have anymore room to say this, but good TD Twitter! And it really doesn't get views. Oh well.
