Sergio Martinez is so fast, he hardly plays defense.

This guy's for real. If you havn't seen 'em, get on it!

Sergio Martinez is right behind Manny and Floyd in the pound for pound rankings.

Chavez Jr. has turned out to be a very nice boxer, I'm not going to lie. But, Martinez, lol, he's **** insane.

no age talk here, it's irrelevant. Martinez is in tip top condition, doesn't matter.

Bring your A game, cuz i've seen Sergio drop someone like a sack of pennies.

I have been a fan of Sergio for a long time. Had money on him for both Williams fights but he is a tad over rated. Not only that, he isn't very young anymore which is bad for the style he fights with. Ask Jones Jr.

#3 P4P is a bit much for a guy who has really only beaten a drunk Pavlik and I can't block a left to save my life Paul Williams [See Lara fight in which he landed it so much it was comical]. Good victories yes but J. Marquez and Cotto are easily better boxers not to mentioned more accomplished. I would also argue Ward all day and I can't stand him.

Can't hate on Chavez Jr. anymore. His last two victories have earned my respect. Rubio is a pros' pro. A gatekeeper, yes, but a gatekeeper you have to pass to be an elite at middleweight. Andy Lee has been Stewards protege and Chavez whooped him. Since joining Roach this 26 year old with 46 professional fights has become a true contender.

He will not get knocked out. He will out weight Martinez by 20lbs come fight night. Martinez will have to outbox him and not get in a slug match. Chavez is the much bigger fighter and brings the pressure with a body attach that makes his father proud. Chavez by KO.

You are seriously going to compare Sergio vs Roy Jonees.. lmao Are you f'n kidding me?

Sergio blossomed old in the sport. You and I both know that.

Sergio is a very dominant fighter, he's only a hair behind Mayweather and Pacquaio, like i stated earlier. #P4P

Anyways, Chavez Jr. is impressive, true. But, Sergio's speed will kill. Chavez Jr. does have a nice record, and has two wins over two credible fighters in his last. I just don't see those two "credible" fighters being good launch up pads for Martinez.

Martinez laid Paul Williams out like corono's on cinco de mayo.

Martinez does even play defense, that's how fast he is. Roy Jones Jr. lol he's 43, and he should be JUST commentating.

Sergio's a monster, literally. Sergio will show the young buck, no love.

Sergio and Jones Jr fight in a similar style as you even said yourself so yes they are comparable. And because they fight in such a similar style it is easier to predict the downfall of an the younger of the two. It was 8 years ago that Jones' reflexes showed they weren't what they used to be, he was 35 at the time. Sergio who hasn't looked that great vs Macklin and Barker is not 37. Once the reflexes start to slow on these kind of fighters they no longer are the fighter you think they are.

If you look at Sergio's last two fights would see his speed doesn't carry him like it used to. Had he been in tougher I am not so sure he gets out of those fights with a win. They simply are poor opponents, set up guys while Sergio waited on this payday.

The Williams victory was a long time ago and since than we have seen Paul isn't that great. As I said to have Sergio as #3 P4P fighter is ridiculous. He isn't better than several other guys and doesn't have the victories to put him there.

Sergio isn't a monster at middleweight. Has speed but that isn't what it was just a few years ago. Chavez is much bigger and will make this a very close fight.

close fight?

yeah, prolly, but he aint goin to win.

Sergio's a beast. Too bad you don't make the pound for pound listings, eh?

I'd like to see Chavez go up against at least one more contender before Martinez. Chavez still has a chance if he takes his training seriously with Roach.

DOESN'T EVEN PLAY DEFENSE

excuse me, correction

Chavez Jr, too big for Sergio.

I feel yah, kinda. But nah. Chavez Jr. has fought 44 tomotoe cans, then gets two wins off C+ fighters, then everybody's going nutso. Is Chavez Jr. starting to look somewhat polished? YES.. Bu Sergio is a cold blooded killer. Sergio is a league ahead of the last two opponents Chavez Jr. has faced. It's fun to be on the Chavez bandwagon, but a fight with the Red-headed Mexican would be more intriguing, at this POINT in time.

Agree with right. Chavez Jr too big, too strong for Sergio. And I think he wins by KO. Will wait for further args before I vote though.

KO? wow.. how many fights of sergio have you seen again?

Andy Lee is the future gatekeeper and Rubio is that. just let it marinate

Most of Sergio's opponents are tomato cans as well which is why is P4P ranking is a joke. If you just take their last two fights Chavez has the better victories and has looked better in those fights.

As I said the fight can go ether way but this is no easy fight for Sergio, not how he has looked as of late.

July 4, 2012  06:04 PM ET

Wrote that 2nd argument pretty high. Grammar errors all over the place.

Chavez will try to bully like he always does. If Sergio monitors his distance, he'll peck him (Jr.) to death.

Seriously right about all of the ketchup (tomato cans, on both sides), lately, though. Who knows right now with these two? Martinez better keep his damn hands up.

What a great TD - I should venture outside of the NFL on these things more often.
