AL Pitcher: Justin Verlander
NL Pitcher: Matt Cain

NL Fielder: Carlos Beltran
AL Fielder: Josh Hamilton

Justin Verlander

He can throw 130+ pitches per game, and be hitting 100+ MPH at the end of the game. He easily leads the league in Innings Pitched and CG this year, and he also he will be the leader in strikeouts after tonight. His ERA, and AVG is 4th in the AL and he has the second best WHIP in the AL.

Matt Cain

He and RA Dickey are neck in neck as the best pitcher in the NL and I picked Matt Cain because of this. Though RA Dickey has more wins, in the same amount of starts, Matt Cain has more Innings pitched, ERA, WHIP, strikeouts, and Average.

Josh Hamilton

Enough said in my opinion. He leads the AL in SLG, OPS, RBI's, and has a decent number of steals with 6. He is second in the league in HR's and has a batting average over .310. His season is unreal so far, and I think he is still number one in the AL.

Carlos Beltran

Him and Ryan Braun are pretty close at this point but I have to go with Beltran. He has more RBI's, less strikeouts, and more walks. He also has a better BA and a better OBP then Braun.

My Changes.....

NL Pitcher: RA Dickey

Dickey leads in Wins (11 to 9), Winning percentage (917 vs. 818), less hits (by 2), less runs (by 2), complete games (by 1).

Cain has been very good, but Dickey has been great!

NL Fielder (hitter): Joey Votto

Votto leads Beltran in AVG (349 vs. 312), hits (90 vs. 82), doubles (32 vs. 9), and has been a more consistant hitter through the first 75 games of the 2012 season.

Argument 2: AL Hitter and supporting stats for NL hitter and fielder (hitter).....

Dickey vs Cain

Ok, so RA Dickey leads Cain in Wins and winning percentage. This is a horrible stat to judge a pitcher on since your hitting decides if you win games or not. Also, Cain leads in ERA, WHIP, AVG, and strikeouts, and even though he has less CG, he still has more inning pitched then RA Dickey in the same amount of starts.

Plus in 2 inning, its not that bad to have two more hits when the Dickey has 2 more walks so it pretty much evens out. All the stats that Dickey leads in our either misleading or not important, Cain leads in everything else.

Votto vs Beltran

Though Votto has better AVG, OBP, Doubles, and Slugging. Beltran has more speed and has better power numbers this year. Beltran also has less strikeouts then Votto. The thing IMO that pulls Beltran away is that he has 6 more HR's and 12 more RBI's while their percentages are not very far away.

I think its just a matter of opinion here. Beltran has the better power and has driven in more runs then Votto, and also has more speed. Votto has gotten on base more and has been in position to score. IMO getting the runs across are more important then just getting on base.

"Ok, so RA Dickey leads Cain in Wins and winning percentage."

Yes he does.

"Though Votto has better AVG, OBP, Doubles, and Slugging.

Yes he does.

"Votto has gotten on base more and has been in position to score"

Yes he has.

Dickey has won more and won with a better percentage, and Votto has a better average, has a higher OBP, more doubles, and a higher slugging percentage. Plus Cincinnati is in first place and St. Louis is in 3rd place (1.5 games behind). Cincinnati and NY Mets are doing better in the standings because of Dickey and Votto.

Dickey and Votto are the frontrunners for the CY and the MVP in the National League.

Argument 3: Closing arguments.....

Ok, wow. Cain's team has a BETTER RECORD then RA Dickey's team so you can't say that Cain isn't carrying his team more then RA Dickey is. Plus, I already said winning percentage is not a fair statistic to judge a pitcher on, if you get one run in run support and only give up 2, thats a good start but you still don't get the win.

Cain leads in ERA, AVG, WHIP, more strikeouts, and more innings. RA Dickey has been good this year but all the supporting stats point to Cain.

Also, for the wins for Votto, its not like it makes that much more of a difference, they are only up by 1.5 games and it won't be long before St Louis catches up to them.

Votto has the better percentages and such, but during a game, getting stranded on base after a good hit is pointless.

Beltran creates 108 runs with either runs he scored or RBI's
Votto creates 97 runs

Obviously scoring runs is the point of the game and when Beltran is scoring more runs a game for his team, he is putting them in a better position to win this Votto is by just getting on base.

OK, final argument time.....

"Votto has the better percentages and such, but during a game, getting stranded on base after a good hit is pointless."

So your argument is that because he is not getting driven in that he's not the best hitter in the NL?

Votto has the better AVG (354 vs. 311), more extra base hits (47 vs. 30), better OB% (476 vs. 398), better slugging percentage (639 vs. 577), higher OPS (1.114 vs. 975) and you still think Beltran is the better hitter?

Dickey vs. Cain: (after last nights games)

Wins: 12 to 9....................Advantage: Dickey
ERA: 2.15 vs. 2.53............Advantage: Dickey
WHIP: .88 vs. .95..............Advantage Dickey
K's: 116 vs. 114...............Advantage Dickey
BA against: 190 vs. 207...Advantage Dickey
Runs against: 29 vs. 36...Advantage Dickey
ER....27 vs. 29.................Advantage Dickey
Hits allowed: 75 vs. 85....Advantage Dickey

There are 8 different stats which represent why Dickey is the better pitcher this season.

Pleasure to TD with you. Best of luck in the future.....

Not bad, but you should define your categories a little better. You say "fielder", but your argument focuses mainly on power numbers. You going to stick around for three arguments even if it takes a few days?

Yah, I kinda meant both fielding and hitting so thats why I put hitting at the top and fielding at the bottom. Yah, I will probably finish this TD by tomorrow

Your opponent has 24 hours to make an argument. It could last three or four days. I ask because a lot of people will be wary of accepting your TD out of fear you'll abandon it before it's done. Nothing personal, but it happens a lot with new guys.

Or not...looks like Maim is your huckleberry.

Not gonna lie... Melky has been shockingly good.Dude has carried the Giants' offense so far, and that's a pretty amazing accomplishment when you consider SF is either in first or tied for first or a game back, or whatever... not sure about the specifics but the point remains the same: Cabrera HAS to be looked at as an MVP candidate right now.

His power numbers aren't good enough to be a serious contender, but I love what he's done so far.

Darth Maim, before I make a last argument, your not making a AL hitter change now, rite?
