DJ is the first to say no, accept and defend yourself please.

How can you even suggest that Penn State be shut down. What happened there was awful and the cover-up is worse, but you cannot shut down a university for this reason alone.

I agree that EVERYONE involved in this mess needs to be held accountable, but you cannot punish the 30,000 plus students who go there for academics. It is still an academically prestigious institution.

I applied there and got in this winter, and was considering going there, ultimately I chose Temple University because of cost, but I would have no problem going to Penn State, it is still a great school.

By no means am I condoning what happened there and as I said EVERYONE needs to be held accountable.

This is an institution partially funded by tax dollars. For example; If you work for, participate, or in any way contribute funds to an organization who preys on the weak you are part of the problem. If you are still affiliated with the Catholic church in any way you are funding the cover up. If you are affiliated with the funding of this University in any way you are part of the cover up. Tax dollars fund this University. It is a largely Catholic institution and there is no basis to believe that these sorts of issues wont continue to happen. This institution should be shut down. The Government cant shut down the Catholic Church but it dang sure can Penn State and it should.

So are you trying to tell me that because I am a Pennsylvania resident and pay state taxes that I am part of the problem and that I am responsible for helping Penn State attempt To cover that up? Frankly, I am insulted and that argument is absurd.

You cannot punish students for why has happened. You coul make an argument over suspending or penalizing the football program but that's it as the university stands. Many many individuals need to be held accountable that's for sure. But sir, the PSU students are not in that group.

Yes, but not by your choice. Thats why the institution should be shut down.

You know what, I pay PA taxes, and I 100% SUPPORT PENNSYLVANIA STATE UNIVERSITY. Not for the actions of their figure heads and not for what has recently happened, but because of the fine education many people have received and will continue to give people a solid education.

You gotta be kidding or just trying to get somebody spun up. It's a ridiculous idea to shut it down.

Aminkoff, go for it. I almost overstepped comments and started arguing down here. I'm hoping he's taking the devil's advocate purely for the sake of arguing it.

Death penalty for the PSU football program? Maybe

Purge Paterno's records? Maybe.

Shut down PSU? AYFKM?

Penn State has to stay in business so that all the lawyers and plaintiffs can get paid.

You want tax $ to fund the cover up? Its bad enough that people still pay their dues in Catholic churches to fund it.... But Tax $$?

There's no cover up anymore. Sandusky is in jail, Paterno is dead and Curley and Schultz are just looking to cover their **** and on their way to FMUTA federal prison. The gig's up.

But why close the school? The institution is probably a cash cow for the Commonwealth.

"If you are still affiliated with the Catholic church in any way you are funding the cover up."

No. Not even close.
