The Knicks are pursuing Steve Nash and at the same time, they are looking to re-sign Jeremy Lin
Obviously, it won't be that simple and its quite possible that if they get Nash, Lin will leave as a free agent.
So is this a good idea?
In my opinion, no
Nash was a great player and he's still good but he's 38 yrs old and at the tail end of his career.
Jeremy Lin is a decent player and has the potential to e a great player and is 23 yrs old.
In theory, the Knicks expect Nash to come in, immediately bond with Carmelo and Stoudamire and suddenly, the Knicks will be a championship team and unseat the Miami Heat
It won't be that simple
For one, in the proposed sign and trade, the Knicks are trading Shumphert, Douglass and Gadzuric
Thus, trading for Nash will give them a weaker bench, which will be needed with Nash and Stoudamire
Jeremy Lin had a great run last season and if he hadn't been injured, the Knicks could have been more effective in the playoffs.
He's a young player and can potentially be a great point guard in the league. It doesn't make any sense for the Knicks to throw away his potential, by signing Steve Nash and pushing him out

I disagree with you on this for two reasons.
1) Lin really did not play THAT much last year. He is a good marketing ploy at the moment, but aside from that I'm not sure he can be a starting PG in the NBA. There's a reason he came out of nowhere, he's not that good.
2) Nash brought life to Stoudamire's career in Phoenix, why can't he revive it to its prime New York. I think Steve Nash is exactly what the Knicks need; a pass-first veteran that can get the REAL stars the ball and keep the locker room together.
Nash to NYC makes sense for all parties involved. The Suns get some players out of it, the Knicks get a PG that can help them make a run at a championship - say the next 3 years, and Nash himself is known to want to go to New York because he lives and skateboards in Manhattan and of course to reconnect with Amare.
Also remember that Nash will come cheaper than Lin. The Knicks will be in salary cap hell by 2014 if they follow through with Linsanity. Other teams like the Rockets are willing to bring Linsanity away from New York, and I think it's in the Knicks best interest to let that happen.
Nash over Lin any day of the week.

I'm holding out.. but I'm leaning right. Leftie better impress if he hopes to win this fan's vote.

Looking forward to the rest of these arguments. Initially, it didn't make sense but I like right's justification.

Lakers just got way too old. Westbrook will run circles and now figure eights around LA IMO.
