Couple things Harper did; I'll list his more famous transgressions first and then delve into my personal explanation for why folks dislike him.

First of all is the infamous kiss blowing episode. For those that don't know, Harper hit a HR while in the Minors. Nothing wrong so far, but wait... there's more. After smacking the long shot he took a few extra seconds in the batter's box, admiring his bomb. As he rounded the bases the opposing pitcher let Bryce know he didn't appreciate the histrionics. Harper responded by blowing a kiss at the pitcher as he reached home plate. The move was classless, crass and immature. Compounding the issue is the fact that earlier in the game Harper showed his inexperience by falling asleep on the base paths and being picked off. Twice. Can't show guys up when you can't even stand on first base safely...

There's also the bat-slamming incident, where Harper slammed his bat into the dugout wall only for the bat to ricochet back and drill him in the face, an injury which required 10 stitches.

Then there's his ridiculous mohawk and facial hair and the excess pine tar because "it looks cool" and the infamous bat pointing at Ozzie.

Alright, between your accusatory second argument and some of the comments I feel the need to switch tactics here and instead of focusing on more Harper stories right now I'm going to jump straight to the personal explanation I hinted at earlier. I wanted to do this a specific way but the direction of the TD has shifted and I need to adjust.

So here's my personal reason as to why Harper is disliked. Its because hes only 19 and hes already the next big thing in American sports. Its because grown men like you and me cant stand seeing a kid be touted so highly that a nationally respected publication like SI would "dare" to put him on their cover when he was just 16 years old.

Its because the first few weeks of his career featured a bunch of remarkable, game winning plays, and we don't like seeing guys half our age do things we have only dreamy of.

Its because when we were 19 we were flunking out of college or still living in our parents' houses.

Its because America has become a nation of whiners who cant stand other people finding success that outshines our own.

Its the same reason we hated LeBron James when he was a rookie.

Its because of jealousy, plain and simple.

I should've known to never accept one of your TDs. This was the lamest debate I've ever participated in.

Your arguments were all bogus accusations and no substance. Next time I'll leave your TDs to a noob or someone else who can argue and b8tch on hour level. This was a colossal waste of time. You cant even understand why I answered your question about what Harper "did", and now that its answered you veered away from any kind of actual debate to make this a prepubescent and childish squabble.

I'm ashamed of myself for TDing with you and now I need to go take a shower to wash off all the stupid.

Hopefully at some point you understand that the folks who dislike Harper are merely jealous. Its an easy and obvious concept so maybe with time it'll sink in for you. Doubtful, but stranger things have happened.
