If he was still available in the 5th round, I'd snag 'em.
brief answer up front, thanx.

There is most definitely a scenario in which Peyton Manning should be drafted before the 5th round.
Since you didn't mention league rules/ specifics, I'll go ahead with Yahoo! rules. There can be a maximum of ten teams per league- meaning each round there are ten picks per round.
That means that in order for your logic to be proven false, I just have to simply prove that Peyton is worth the 49th pick of the draft.
In my experience, QB's, RB and WR generally go first as they are the positions that produce the most amount of points. In recent years, I personally think Fantasy Football has changed from a RB to QB league making Peyton just that much more valuable.
Obviously, each of the ten teams are going to want to snag a QB that's valuable.
(not in any specific order)
8. Eli Manning
11. Peyton Manning
12. Big Ben
These 12 QB's are who I consider to be the cream of the crop. Now of those 12, I would gamble on Peyton over Big Ben and Matt Ryan, making him the 10th most valuable QB. With each team needing a QB, he would easily be drafted in the 4th.

yqhoo's fine, lets run with it.
gamble on Big Ben and Matt Ryan, I doubt this year bro..
Demayrius Thomas can't run routes, I mean the dude's from an option attack at Georgia Tech.
Decker, he's good, but how good? Superstar good? umm maybe not.
Is boy Knowshon gonna get back to his old self? honestly dunno..
Can Willis McGhee hold uup...
That's ALL big factors I have with the Broncos. Peyton is a hall of fame qb, but he's coming into a team not that suited for him.Peyton needs balance to produce big numbers. I would most def. take Matt Ryan over him, but hear me out. Matt Ryan has a new offensive coordinator, because old buddy went to Jacksonville. Anyways, supposedly this season they are bashing the old style of conservative, and horrible 3down packages. Matt Ryan has roddy white probowler, Julio Jones, guy had a td tonight, and is a deep threat in the open field, and did Gonzalez retire? Falcons have balance, have a chance to score more than the broncos. Peyton's neck is a big question too.. wait till he gets blindsided. I'll take Matt Ryan over Big Ben as well. Big Ben's best receiver is being a b8tch, just my opinion.

Sorry PCHY, but you just lost all credibility when you said you would take Matt Ryan over Peyton.
I'm not saying Matt Ryan is a bad QB. It's just he has such a low ceiling. He's a facilitator. He just isn't going to put up numbers that you would see from Peyton.
And exactly... Matt had all those players you mentioned for years and years. Why is he suddenly going to produce now? One new coordinator is going to make him as viable as the rest of the pack?
I would take my chances on Peyton any day. I saw him play in the preseason game and boy was he dead accurate. He's back and he's back to prove Indy wrong.
Peyton is definitely a risk worth taking. If he's 70% of the his old self, he's going to put up great numbers. Numbers beyond Big Ben and Matt.
Also, I would personally take him over Vick as well. But that's for another argument.
To say he will last to the 5th round is a stretch. Plenty of people are willing to take chances on him.
